1 Hezekiah began to reign when he was five and twenty years old, and he reigned nine and twenty years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Abijah, the daughter of Zechariah.	1 Ezéchias commença donc à régner à l'âge de vingt-cinq ans, et il en régna vingt-neuf à Jérusalem. Sa mère s'appelait Abie, et était fille de Zacharie.
2 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father had done.	2 Il fit ce qui était agréable aux yeux du Seigneur, selon tout ce qu'avait fait David, son père.
3 He in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of the house of the LORD, and repaired them.	3 Au premier mois de la première année de son régne, il ouvrit les portes de la maison du Seigneur, et il les répara.
4 And he brought in the priests and the Levites, and gathered them together into the east street,	4 Et il fit venir les prêtres et les lévites, et les assembla dans la place orientale,
5 And said unto them, Hear me, ye Levites, sanctify now yourselves, and sanctify the house of the LORD God of your fathers, and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy place.	5 et il leur dit : Ecoutez-moi, lévites, et purifiez-vous; nettoyez la maison du Seigneur, le Dieu de vos pères, et ôtez toutes les immondices du sanctuaire.
6 For our fathers have trespassed, and done that which was evil in the eyes of the LORD our God, and have forsaken him, and have turned away their faces from the habitation of the LORD, and turned their backs.	6 Nos pères ont péché, et ils ont commis le mal devant le Seigneur notre Dieu, en L'abandonnant. Ils ont détourné leur visage de Son tabernacle, et Lui ont tourné le dos.
7 Also they have shut up the doors of the porch, and put out the lamps, and have not burned incense nor offered burnt offerings in the holy place unto the God of Israel.	7 Ils ont fermé les portes du vestibule, et ont éteint les lampes; ils n'ont plus brûlé d'encens, et n'ont plus offert de victimes dans le sanctuaire au Dieu d'Israël.
8 Wherefore the wrath of the LORD was upon Judah and Jerusalem, and he hath delivered them to trouble, to astonishment, and to hissing, as ye see with your eyes.	8 Aussi la colère de Dieu s'est-elle enflammée contre Juda et Jérusalem; Il les a livrés à la destruction, à la ruine et à la moquerie, comme vous le voyez vous-mêmes de vos propres yeux.
9 For, lo, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity for this.	9 Voici que nos pères ont péri par l'épée, et nos fils, nos filles et nos femmes ont été emmenés captifs en punition de ce crime.
10 Now it is in mine heart to make a covenant with the LORD God of Israel, that his fierce wrath may turn away from us.	10 Je désire donc que nous renouvelions l'alliance avec le Seigneur Dieu d'Israël, et Il détournera de dessus nous la fureur de Sa colère.
11 My sons, be not now negligent: for the LORD hath chosen you to stand before him, to serve him, and that ye should minister unto him, and burn incense.	11 Mes fils, ne soyez pas négligents. Dieu vous a choisis pour paraître devant Lui, pour Le servir, pour Lui rendre le culte qui Lui est dû, et pour Lui brûler de l'encens.
12 Then the Levites arose, Mahath the son of Amasai, and Joel the son of Azariah, of the sons of the Kohathites: and of the sons of Merari, Kish the son of Abdi, and Azariah the son of Jehalelel: and of the Gershonites; Joah the son of Zimmah, and Eden the son of Joah:	12 Alors plusieurs lévites se levèrent: d'entre les descendants de Caath, Mahath, fils d'Amasaï, et Joël, fils d'Azarias; des descendants de Mérari, Cis, fils d'Abdi, et Azarias, fils de Jalaléel; des descendants de Gerson, Joah, fils de Zemma, et Eden, fils de Joah;
13 And of the sons of Elizaphan; Shimri, and Jeiel: and of the sons of Asaph; Zechariah, and Mattaniah:	13 des descendants d'Elisaphan, Samri et Jahiel; des descendants d'Asaph, Zacharie et Mathanias;
14 And of the sons of Heman; Jehiel, and Shimei: and of the sons of Jeduthun; Shemaiah, and Uzziel.	14 des descendants d'Héman, Jahiel et Séméi; des descendants d'Idithun, Séméias et Oziel.
15 And they gathered their brethren, and sanctified themselves, and came, according to the commandment of the king, by the words of the LORD, to cleanse the house of the LORD.	15 Ils assemblèrent leurs frères, et s'étant sanctifiés, ils entrèrent dans le temple, suivant l'ordre du roi et le commandement du Seigneur, pour le purifier.
16 And the priests went into the inner part of the house of the LORD, to cleanse it, and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in the temple of the LORD into the court of the house of the LORD. And the Levites took it, to carry it out abroad into the brook Kidron.	16 Les prêtres entrèrent aussi dans le temple du Seigneur pour le sanctifier, et ils ôtèrent tout ce qu'ils trouvèrent d'impur au dedans, et le portèrent dans le vestibule de la maison du Seigneur, où les lévites le prirent pour le jeter dans le torrent de Cédron.
17 Now they began on the first day of the first month to sanctify, and on the eighth day of the month came they to the porch of the LORD: so they sanctified the house of the LORD in eight days; and in the sixteenth day of the first month they made an end.	17 Ils commencèrent le premier jour du premier mois à nettoyer; et le huitième jour du même mois, ils entrèrent dans le portique du temple du Seigneur. Ils employèrent encore huit jours à purifier le temple. Et le seizième jour du même mois, ils achevèrent ce qu'ils avaient commencé.
18 Then they went in to Hezekiah the king, and said, We have cleansed all the house of the LORD, and the altar of burnt offering, with all the vessels thereof, and the shewbread table, with all the vessels thereof.	18 Ils vinrent ensuite auprès du roi Ezéchias, et lui dirent : Nous avons sanctifié toute la maison du Seigneur, l'autel de l'holocauste et ses ustensiles, la table de proposition avec tous ses ustensiles,
19 Moreover all the vessels, which king Ahaz in his reign did cast away in his transgression, have we prepared and sanctified, and, behold, they are before the altar of the LORD.	19 et tous les ustensiles du temple, que le roi Achaz avait souillés durant son règne, depuis qu'il eut abandonné Dieu : et l'on a tout exposé devant l'autel du Seigneur.
20 Then Hezekiah the king rose early, and gathered the rulers of the city, and went up to the house of the LORD.	20 Et le roi Ezéchias, se levant de grand matin, assembla tous les princes de la ville, et monta à la maison du Seigneur.
21 And they brought seven bullocks, and seven rams, and seven lambs, and seven he goats, for a sin offering for the kingdom, and for the sanctuary, and for Judah. And he commanded the priests the sons of Aaron to offer them on the altar of the LORD.	21 Et ils offrirent ensemble sept taureaux et sept béliers, sept agneaux et sept boucs, pour l'expiation des péchés, pour le royaume, pour le sanctuaire et pour Juda; et il dit aux prêtres, fils d'Aaron, d'offrir tout cela sur l'autel du Seigneur.
22 So they killed the bullocks, and the priests received the blood, and sprinkled it on the altar: likewise, when they had killed the rams, they sprinkled the blood upon the altar: they killed also the lambs, and they sprinkled the blood upon the altar.	22 Les prêtres immolèrent donc les taureaux, et ils en prirent le sang, qu'ils répandirent sur l'autel. Ils immolèrent aussi les béliers, et en répandirent le sang sur l'autel. Ils immolèrent de même les agneaux, et en répandirent le sang sur l'autel.
23 And they brought forth the he goats for the sin offering before the king and the congregation; and they laid their hands upon them:	23 Ils firent amener devant le roi et devant toute la multitude les boucs qui étaient pour le péché, et ils leur imposèrent les mains.
24 And the priests killed them, and they made reconciliation with their blood upon the altar, to make an atonement for all Israel: for the king commanded that the burnt offering and the sin offering should be made for all Israel.	24 Les prêtres les immolèrent, et en répandirent le sang devant l'autel pour l'expiation des péchés de tout Israël. Car le roi avait commandé qu'on offrît l'holocauste pour tout Israël et pour le péché.
25 And he set the Levites in the house of the LORD with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the king's seer, and Nathan the prophet: for so was the commandment of the LORD by his prophets.	25 Il établit aussi les lévites dans la maison du Seigneur, avec les cymbales, les harpes et les guitares, selon ce que le roi David avait réglé par l'avis des prophètes Gad et Nathan; car c'était un ordre du Seigneur, transmis par Ses prophètes.
26 And the Levites stood with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets.	26 Les lévites se tinrent donc debout, tenant les instruments de David, et les prêtres avaient des trompettes.
27 And Hezekiah commanded to offer the burnt offering upon the altar. And when the burnt offering began, the song of the LORD began also with the trumpets, and with the instruments ordained by David king of Israel.	27 Et Ezéchias ordonna qu'on offrît les holocaustes sur l'autel; et pendant qu'on offrait les holocaustes, ils se mirent à chanter les louanges du Seigneur, et à sonner des trompettes, et à jouer des diverses sortes d'instruments que David, roi d'Israël, avait inventés.
28 And all the congregation worshipped, and the singers sang, and the trumpeters sounded: and all this continued until the burnt offering was finished.	28 Et tandis que le peuple adorait, les chantres et ceux qui tenaient des trompettes s'acquittairent de leur devoir, jusqu'à ce que l'holocauste fût achevé.
29 And when they had made an end of offering, the king and all that were present with him bowed themselves, and worshipped.	29 L'oblation finie, le roi se prosterna avec tous ceux qui étaient auprès de lui, et ils adorèrent.
30 Moreover Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praise unto the LORD with the words of David, and of Asaph the seer. And they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshipped.	30 Ezéchias et les princes ordonnèrent aux lévites de louer le Seigneur en employant les paroles de David et du prophète Asaph. Ils le firent avec une grande joie, et s'étant mis à genoux, ils adorèrent.
31 Then Hezekiah answered and said, Now ye have consecrated yourselves unto the LORD, come near and bring sacrifices and thank offerings into the house of the LORD. And the congregation brought in sacrifices and thank offerings; and as many as were of a free heart burnt offerings.	31 Ezéchias ajouta encore ces paroles : Vous avez rempli vos mains pour faire des offrandes au Seigneur; approchez-vous, et offrez des victimes et des louanges dans la maison du Seigneur. Toute la multitude offrit donc des victimes, des louanges et des holocaustes, avec un esprit rempli de dévotion.
32 And the number of the burnt offerings, which the congregation brought, was threescore and ten bullocks, an hundred rams, and two hundred lambs: all these were for a burnt offering to the LORD.	32 Voici le nombre des holocaustes qui furent offerts : soixante-dix taureaux, cent béliers et deux cents agneaux.
33 And the consecrated things were six hundred oxen and three thousand sheep.	33 Ils sanctifièrent encore au Seigneur six cents boeufs et trois mille moutons.
34 But the priests were too few, so that they could not flay all the burnt offerings: wherefore their brethren the Levites did help them, till the work was ended, and until the other priests had sanctified themselves: for the Levites were more upright in heart to sanctify themselves than the priests.	34 Or il y avait alors peu de prêtres, et ils ne pouvaient suffire à enlever la peau des victimes destinées aux holocaustes. C'est pourquoi leurs frères les lévites les aidèrent, jusqu'à ce que tout fût achevé et que l'on eût purifié des prêtres; car les lévites sont sanctifiés par un rite plus facile que les prêtres.
35 And also the burnt offerings were in abundance,with the fat of the peace offerings, and the drink offerings for every burnt offering. So the service of the house of the LORD was set in order.	35 Ainsi l'on offrit beaucoup d'holocaustes, de graisses des hosties pacifiques, et de libations des holocaustes, et l'on rétablit entièrement le culte de la maison du Seigneur.
36 And Hezekiah rejoiced, and all the people, that God had prepared the people: for the thing was done suddenly.	36 Et Ezéchias se réjouit avec tout son peuple de ce que le culte du Seigneur était rétabli; car il avait résolu subitement qu'il en serait ainsi.
