Lévitique 14

JERUSALEM	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Yahvé parla à Moïse et dit:	1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:
2 Voici la loi à appliquer au lépreux le jour de sa purification. On le conduira au prêtre,	2 'This is the law to be applied on the day of the purification of someone who has suffered from acontagious skin-disease. Such a person wil be taken to the priest,
3 et le prêtre sortira du camp. S'il constate, après examen, que le lépreux est guéri de sa lèpre,	3 and the priest wil go outside the camp. If he finds on examination that the person has recovered fromthe disease,
4 il ordonnera de prendre pour l'homme à purifier deux oiseaux vivants et purs, du bois de cèdre,du rouge de cochenille et de l'hysope.	4 he wil order the fol owing to be brought for his purification: two live birds that are clean, some cedar wood, scarlet material and hyssop.
5 Il ordonnera ensuite d'immoler un oiseau sur un pot d'argile au-dessus d'une eau vive.	5 He will then order one of the birds to be slaughtered in an earthenware pot over running water.
6 Quant à l'oiseau encore vivant, il le prendra ainsi que le bois de cèdre, le rouge de cochenille,l'hysope, et il plongera le tout (y compris l'oiseau vivant) dans le sang de l'oiseau immolé au-dessus de l'eaucourante.	6 He will then take the live bird, the cedar wood, the scarlet material and the hyssop and dip all this(including the live bird) into the blood of the bird slaughtered over running water.
7 Il fera alors sept aspersions sur l'homme à purifier de la lèpre et, l'ayant déclaré pur, il lâcheral'oiseau vivant dans la campagne.	7 He will then sprinkle the person to be purified of the skin-disease seven times, and having declared theperson clean, wil set the live bird free to fly off into the countryside.
8 Celui qui se purifie nettoiera ses vêtements, il se rasera tous les poils, il se lavera à l'eau et serapur. Après quoi il rentrera au camp, mais il restera sept jours hors de sa tente.	8 The person who is being purified will then wash al clothing, shave off al hair, and wash, and wil thenbe clean. After this he will return to the camp, although he wil remain outside his tent for seven days.
9 Le septième jour il se rasera tous les poils: cheveux, barbe, sourcils; il devra se raser tous lespoils. Après avoir nettoyé ses vêtements et s'être lavé à l'eau, il sera pur.	9 On the seventh day he wil shave off all his hair-head, beard and eyebrows; he wil shave off al hishair. After washing his clothing and his body he wil be clean.
10 Le huitième jour il prendra deux agneaux sans défaut, une agnelle d'un an sans défaut, troisdixièmes de fleur de farine pétrie à l'huile, pour l'oblation, et une pinte d'huile.	10 'On the eighth day he wil take two unblemished lambs, an unblemished ewe one year old, three-tenths of wheaten flour mixed with oil for the cereal offering, and one log of oil.
11 Le prêtre qui accomplit la purification placera l'homme à purifier, ainsi que ses offrandes, àl'entrée de la Tente du Rendez-vous, devant Yahvé.	11 The priest who is performing the purification will place the person who is being purified, with all hisofferings, at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, before Yahweh.
12 Puis il prendra l'un des agneaux. Il l'offrira en sacrifice de réparation ainsi que la pinte d'huile.Il fera avec eux le geste de présentation devant Yahvé.	12 He wil then take one of the lambs and offer it as a sacrifice of reparation, as also the log of oil. Withthese he wil make the gesture of offering before Yahweh.
13 Il immolera l'agneau à l'endroit du lieu saint où l'on immole les victimes du sacrifice pour lepéché et de l'holocauste. Cette victime de réparation reviendra au prêtre comme un sacrifice pour le péché, c'estune chose très sainte.	13 He wil then slaughter the lamb on that spot inside the holy place where the victims for the sacrificefor sin and for the burnt offering are slaughtered. This reparatory offering, like the sacrifice for sin, wil revert tothe priest: it is especially holy.
14 Le prêtre prendra du sang de ce sacrifice. Il le mettra sur le lobe de l'oreille droite de celui quise purifie, sur le pouce de sa main droite et sur le gros orteil de son pied droit.	14 The priest wil then take some blood of this sacrifice and put it on the lobe of the right ear, the thumbof the right hand, and the big toe of the right foot of the person who is being purified.
15 Il prendra ensuite la pinte d'huile et en versera un peu dans le creux de sa main gauche.	15 He wil then take the log of oil and pour a little into the hol ow of his left hand.
16 Il trempera un doigt de sa main droite dans l'huile qui est au creux de sa main gauche et de cettehuile il fera avec son doigt sept aspersions devant Yahvé.	16 He wil dip a finger of his right hand into the oil in the hollow of his left hand, and sprinkle the oil withhis finger seven times before Yahweh.
17 Puis il mettra un peu de l'huile qui lui reste dans le creux de la main sur le lobe de l'oreilledroite de celui qui se purifie, sur le pouce de sa main droite et sur le gros orteil de son pied droit, en plus du sangdu sacrifice de réparation.	17 He wil then take some of the oil left in the hollow of his hand and put it on the lobe of the right ear,the thumb of the right hand, and the big toe of the right foot of the person being purified, in addition to the bloodof the sacrifice of reparation.
18 Le reste d'huile qu'il a dans le creux de la main, il le mettra sur la tête de celui qui se purifie. Ilaura fait ainsi sur lui le rite d'expiation devant Yahvé.	18 The rest of the oil in the hol ow of his hand he will put on the head of the person who is being purified.This is how the priest wil perform the rite of expiation for such a person before Yahweh.
19 Le prêtre fera alors le sacrifice pour le péché et accomplira sur celui qui se purifie le rited'expiation de son impureté. Après quoi il immolera l'holocauste,	19 'The priest wil then offer the sacrifice for sin, and perform the rite of expiation for uncleanness for theperson who is being purified. After this, he wil slaughter the burnt offering
20 il fera monter à l'autel holocauste et oblation. Quand le prêtre aura ainsi accompli sur cethomme le rite d'expiation, il sera pur.	20 and offer this and the cereal offering on the altar. So, when the priest has performed the rite ofexpiation for him the person wil be clean.
21 S'il est pauvre et dépourvu des ressources suffisantes, il prendra un seul agneau, celui dusacrifice de réparation, et on l'offrira selon le geste de présentation pour accomplir sur cet homme le rited'expiation. Il ne prendra aussi qu'un dixième de fleur de farine pétrie à l'huile, pour l'oblation, et la pinte d'huile,	21 'If he is poor and cannot afford al this, he need take only one lamb, the one for the sacrifice ofreparation, and this will be presented with the gesture of offering to perform the rite of expiation for him. And forthe cereal offering he wil only take one-tenth of wheaten flour mixed with oil, and the log of oil,
22 enfin deux tourterelles ou deux pigeons -- s'il est en mesure de se les procurer -- dont l'un seradestiné au sacrifice pour le péché et l'autre à l'holocauste.	22 and two turtledoves or two young pigeons, whichever he can afford, one for a sacrifice for sin and theother for the burnt offering.
23 C'est le huitième jour qu'en vue de sa purification il les apportera au prêtre, à l'entrée de laTente du Rendez-vous, devant Yahvé.	23 He wil bring these on the eighth day to the priest at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting beforeYahweh, for his purification.
24 Le prêtre prendra l'agneau du sacrifice de réparation et la pinte d'huile. Il les offrira en geste deprésentation devant Yahvé.	24 The priest wil take the lamb for the sacrifice of reparation and the log of oil, and present them beforeYahweh with the gesture of offering.
25 Puis, ayant immolé cet agneau du sacrifice de réparation, il en prendra du sang et le mettra surle lobe de l'oreille droite de celui qui se purifie, sur le pouce de sa main droite et sur le gros orteil de son pieddroit.	25 He wil then slaughter the lamb for the sacrifice of reparation, take some of its blood and put it on thelobe of the right ear, the thumb of the right hand and the big toe of the right foot of the person who is beingpurified.
26 Il versera de l'huile dans le creux de sa main gauche	26 He wil pour the oil into the hol ow of his left hand,
27 et, de cette huile qui est dans le creux de sa main gauche, il fera avec son doigt sept aspersionsdevant Yahvé.	27 and with his finger sprinkle the oil in the hol ow of his left hand seven times before Yahweh.
28 Il en mettra sur le lobe de l'oreille droite de celui qui se purifie, sur le pouce de sa main droite,sur le gros orteil de son pied droit, à l'endroit où a été posé le sang du sacrifice de réparation.	28 He wil then put some of the oil on the lobe of the right ear, the thumb of the right hand and the bigtoe of the right foot of the person who is being purified, as he did with the blood of the sacrifice of reparation.
29 Ce qui lui reste d'huile dans le creux de la main, il le mettra sur la tête de celui qui se purifie enfaisant sur lui le rite d'expiation devant Yahvé.	29 The remainder of the oil in the hol ow of his hand he wil put on the head of the person who is beingpurified, thus performing the rite of expiation for him before Yahweh.
30 De l'une des deux tourterelles ou de l'un des deux pigeons -- de ce qu'il est en mesure de seprocurer -- il fera	30 Of the two turtledoves or two young pigeons -- whatever he has been able to afford -- he wil offer
31 un sacrifice pour le péché et, de l'autre, un holocauste accompagné d'oblation -- avec ce qu'ilaura été en mesure de se procurer. Le prêtre aura fait ainsi le rite d'expiation devant Yahvé sur celui qui sepurifie.	31 a sacrifice for sin with one, and with the other a burnt offering with a cereal offering -- whatever hehas been able to afford. This is how the priest will perform before Yahweh the rite of expiation for the person whois being purified.
32 Telle est la loi concernant celui qui est atteint de lèpre sans être à même de pourvoir à sapurification.	32 'Such is the law concerning someone with a contagious skin-disease who cannot afford the means ofpurification.'
33 Yahvé parla à Moïse et à Aaron et dit:	33 Yahweh spoke to Moses and Aaron and said:
34 Lorsque vous serez arrivés au pays de Canaan que je vous donne pour domaine, si je frappe dela lèpre une maison du pays que vous posséderez,	34 'When you reach Canaan, which I am giving you as your possession, if I infect a house with adisease in the country which you are to possess,
35 son propriétaire viendra avertir le prêtre et dira: "J'ai vu comme de la lèpre dans la maison."	35 the owner wil come and inform the priest and say, "I have seen something like a skin-disease in thehouse."
36 Le prêtre ordonnera de vider la maison avant qu'il ne vienne examiner le mal; ainsi rien nedeviendra impur de ce qui s'y trouve. Après quoi le prêtre viendra observer la maison,	36 The priest wil order the house to be emptied before he goes to examine the infection, or everything inthe house wil become unclean; after which, the priest wil go inside and examine the house;
37 et si, après examen, il constate sur les murs de la maison des cavités verdâtres ou rougeâtres quifont creux dans le mur,	37 and if on examination he finds the wal s of the house pitted with reddish or greenish depressionswhich appear to be eating away the wall,
38 le prêtre sortira de la maison, à la porte, et il la fera fermer sept jours.	38 the priest wil then go out of the house, to the door, and shut it up for seven days.
39 Il reviendra le septième jour et si, après examen, il constate que le mal s'est développé sur lesmurs de la maison,	39 On the seventh day, the priest will come back and if on examination he finds that the infection hasspread over the walls of the house,
40 il ordonnera que l'on retire les pierres attaquées par le mal et qu'on les jette hors de la ville enun lieu impur.	40 he wil order the infected stones to be removed and thrown into some unclean place outside the town.
41 Puis il fera gratter toutes les parois intérieures de la maison et l'on répandra le crépi ainsidétaché dans un lieu impur à l'extérieur de la ville.	41 He wil then have all the inside of the house scraped, and the plaster that comes off will be emptied inan unclean place outside the town.
42 On prendra d'autres pierres pour remplacer les premières et un autre enduit pour recrépir lamaison.	42 The stones wil then be replaced with new ones and the house given a new coat of plaster.
43 Si le mal prolifère à nouveau après l'enlèvement des pierres, le décapage et le crépissage de lamaison,	43 'If the infection spreads again after the stones have been removed and the house scraped andreplastered,
44 le prêtre viendra l'examiner; s'il constate que le mal s'est développé, c'est une lèpre contagieusedans la maison; celle-ci est impure.	44 the priest wil come and examine it. If he finds that the infection has spread, this means that there is acontagious disease in the house: it is unclean.
45 On la démolira, on portera dans un lieu impur, hors de la ville, ses pierres, ses charpentes et toutson crépi.	45 It must be pul ed down and the stones, woodwork and al the plaster be taken to an unclean placeoutside the town.
46 Quiconque entrera dans la maison, pendant tout le temps qu'on la tient fermée, sera impurjusqu'au soir.	46 'Anyone who enters the house while it is closed wil be unclean until evening.
47 Quiconque y couchera devra nettoyer ses vêtements. Quiconque y mangera devra nettoyer sesvêtements.	47 Anyone who sleeps there wil wash his clothes. Anyone who eats there will wash his clothes.
48 Mais si le prêtre, lorsqu'il vient examiner le mal, constate qu'il ne s'est pas développé dans lamaison après le crépissage, il déclarera pure la maison, car le mal est guéri.	48 But if the priest finds, when he comes to examine the infection, that it has not spread in the housesince it was plastered, he wil declare the house clean, for the infection is cured.
49 En vue d'un sacrifice pour le péché de la maison, il prendra deux oiseaux, du bois de cèdre, durouge de cochenille et de l'hysope.	49 'As a sacrifice for the defilement of the house, he wil take two birds, some cedar wood, scarletmaterial and hyssop.
50 Il immolera un des oiseaux sur un pot d'argile au-dessus d'une eau courante.	50 He wil slaughter one of the birds in an earthenware pot over running water.
51 Puis il prendra le bois de cèdre, l'hysope, le rouge de cochenille et l'oiseau encore vivant, pourles plonger dans le sang de l'oiseau immolé et dans l'eau courante. Il fera sept aspersions sur la maison	51 He wil then take the cedar wood, the hyssop, the scarlet material and the live bird, dip them into theblood of the slaughtered bird and into the running water and sprinkle the house seven times;
52 et, après avoir fait le sacrifice pour le péché de la maison par le sang de l'oiseau, l'eau courante,l'oiseau vivant, le bois de cèdre, l'hysope et le rouge de cochenille,	52 and after offering the sacrifice for the defilement of the house with the blood of the bird, the runningwater, the live bird, the cedar wood, the hyssop and the scarlet material,
53 il lâchera l'oiseau vivant hors de la ville, dans la campagne. Le rite d'expiation ainsi fait sur lamaison, elle sera pure.	53 he wil set the live bird free to fly out of the town into the countryside. Once the rite of expiation hasbeen performed for the house in this way it wil be clean.
54 Telle est la loi concernant tous cas de lèpre et de teigne,	54 'Such is the law governing all kinds of skin-disease and tinea,
55 la lèpre des vêtements et des maisons,	55 diseases of clothing and houses,
56 les tumeurs, dartres et taches.	56 swel ings, scabs and spots. It defines the occasions when things are unclean and when clean.
57 Elle fixe les temps d'impureté et de pureté. Telle est la loi sur la lèpre.	57 Such is the law on skin-diseases.'
