Philippians 4

1 Therefore, my dearly beloved brethren, and most desired, my joy and my crown; so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.	1 Ainsi donc, mes frères bien-aimés et tant désirés, ma joie et ma couronne, tenez bon de la sorte,dans le Seigneur, mes bien-aimés.
2 I beg of Evodia, and I beseech Syntyche, to be of one mind in the Lord.	2 J'exhorte Evodie comme j'exhorte Syntyche à vivre en bonne intelligence dans le Seigneur.
3 And I entreat thee also, my sincere companion, help those women who have laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement and the rest of my fellow labourers, whose names are in the book of life.	3 Et toi de ton côté, Syzyge, vrai "compagnon", je te demande de leur venir en aide: car ellesm'ont assisté dans la lutte pour l'Evangile, en même temps que Clément et mes autres collaborateurs, dont lesnoms sont écrits au livre de vie.
4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again, I say, rejoice.	4 Réjouissez-vous sans cesse dans le Seigneur, je le dis encore, réjouissez-vous.
5 Let your modesty be known to all men. The Lord is nigh.	5 Que votre modération soit connue de tous les hommes. Le Seigneur est proche.
6 Be nothing solicitous; but in every thing, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your petitions be made known to God.	6 N'entretenez aucun souci; mais en tout besoin recourez à l'oraison et à la prière, pénétréesd'action de grâces, pour présenter vos requêtes à Dieu.
7 And the peace of God, which surpasseth all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.	7 Alors la paix de Dieu, qui surpasse toute intelligence, prendra sous sa garde vos coeurs et vospensées, dans le Christ Jésus.
8 For the rest, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever modest, whatsoever just, whatsoever holy, whatsoever lovely, whatsoever of good fame, if there be any virtue, if any praise of discipline, think on these things.	8 Enfin, frères, tout ce qu'il y a de vrai, de noble, de juste, de pur, d'aimable, d'honorable, tout cequ'il peut y avoir de bon dans la vertu et la louange humaines, voilà ce qui doit vous préoccuper.
9 The things which you have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, these do ye, and the God of peace shall be with you.	9 Ce que vous avez appris, reçu, entendu de moi et constaté en moi, voilà ce que vous devezpratiquer. Alors le Dieu de la paix sera avec vous.
10 Now I rejoice in the Lord exceedingly, that now at length your thought for me hath flourished again, as you did also think; but you were busied.	10 J'ai eu grande joie dans le Seigneur à voir enfin refleurir votre intérêt pour moi; il était bientoujours vivant, mais vous ne trouviez pas d'occasion.
11 I speak not as it were for want. For I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, to be content therewith.	11 Ce n'est pas mon dénuement qui m'inspire ces paroles; j'ai appris en effet à me suffire en touteoccasion.
12 I know both how to be brought low, and I know how to abound: (everywhere, and in all things I am instructed) both to be full, and to be hungry; both to abound, and to suffer need.	12 Je sais me priver comme je sais être à l'aise. En tout temps et de toutes manières, je me suisinitié à la satiété comme à la faim, à l'abondance comme au dénuement.
13 I can do all these things in him who strengtheneth me.	13 Je puis tout en Celui qui me rend fort.
14 Nevertheless you have done well in communicating to my tribulation.	14 Cependant vous avez bien fait de prendre part à mon épreuve.
15 And you also know, O Philippians, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but you only:	15 Vous le savez vous-mêmes, Philippiens: dans les débuts de l'Evangile, quand je quittai laMacédoine, aucune Eglise ne m'assista par mode de contributions pécuniaires; vous fûtes les seuls,
16 For unto Thessalonica also you sent once and again for my use.	16 vous qui, dès mon séjour à Thessalonique, m'avez envoyé, et par deux fois, ce dont j'avaisbesoin.
17 Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that may abound to your account.	17 Ce n'est pas que je recherche les dons; ce que je recherche, c'est le bénéfice qui s'augmente àvotre actif.
18 But I have all, and abound: I am filled, having received from Epaphroditus the things you sent, an odour of sweetness, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.	18 Pour le moment j'ai tout ce qu'il faut, et même plus qu'il ne faut; je suis comblé, depuisqu'Epaphrodite m'a remis votre offrande, parfum de bonne odeur, sacrifice que Dieu reçoit et trouve agréable.
19 And may my God supply all your want, according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.	19 En retour mon Dieu comblera tous vos besoins, selon sa richesse, avec magnificence, dans leChrist Jésus.
20 Now to God and our Father be glory world without end. Amen.	20 Gloire à ce Dieu, notre Père, dans les siècles des siècles! Amen.
21 Salute ye every saint in Christ Jesus.	21 Saluez chacun des saints dans le Christ Jésus. Les frères qui sont avec moi vous saluent.
22 The brethren who are with me, salute you. All the saints salute you; especially they that are of Caesar's household.	22 Tous les saints vous saluent, surtout ceux de la Maison de César.
23 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.	23 La grâce du Seigneur Jésus Christ soit avec votre esprit!
