1 And he began to speak to them in parables: A certain man planted a vineyard and made a hedge about it, and dug a place for the winefat, and built a tower, and let it to husbandmen; and went into a far country.	1 Y se puso a hablarles en parábolas: «Un hombre plantó una viña, la rodeó de una cerca, cavó un lagar y edificó una torre; la arrendó a unos labradores, y se ausentó.
2 And at the season he sent to the husbandmen a servant to receive of the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard.	2 Envió un siervo a los labradores a su debido tiempo para recibir de ellos una parte de los frutos de la viña.
3 Who having laid hands on him, beat him, and sent him away empty.	3 Ellos le agarraron, le golpearon y le despacharon con las manos vacías.
4 And again he sent to them another servant; and him they wounded in the head, and used him reproachfully.	4 De nuevo les envió a otro siervo; también a éste le descalabraron y le insultaron.
5 And again he sent another, and him they killed: and many others, of whom some they beat, and others they killed.	5 Y envió a otro y a éste le mataron; y también a otros muchos, hiriendo a unos, matando a otros.
6 Therefore having yet one son, most dear to him; he also sent him unto them last of all, saying: They will reverence my son.	6 Todavía le quedaba un hijo querido; les envió a éste, el último, diciendo: “A mi hijo le respetarán”.
7 But the husbandmen said one to another: This is the heir; come let us kill him; and the inheritance shall be ours.	7 Pero aquellos labradores dijeron entre sí: “Este es el heredero. Vamos, matémosle, y será nuestra la herencia.”
8 And laying hold on him, they killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard.	8 Le agarraron, le mataron y le echaron fuera de la viña.
9 What therefore will the lord of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy those husbandmen; and will give the vineyard to others.	9 ¿Qué hará el dueño de la viña? Vendrá y dará muerte a los labradores y entregará la viña a otros.
10 And have you not read this scripture, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is made the head of the corner:	10 ¿No habéis leído esta Escritura: La piedra que los constructores desecharon, en piedra angular se ha convertido;
11 By the Lord has this been done, and it is wonderful in our eyes.	11 fue el Señor quien hizo esto y es maravilloso a nuestros ojos?»
12 And they sought to lay hands on him, but they feared the people. For they knew that he spoke this parable to them. And leaving him, they went their way.	12 Trataban de detenerle - pero tuvieron miedo a la gente - porque habían comprendido que la parábola la había dicho por ellos. Y dejándole, se fueron.
13 And they sent to him some of the Pharisees and of the Herodians; that they should catch him in his words.	13 Y envían donde él algunos fariseos y herodianos, para cazarle en alguna palabra.
14 Who coming, say to him: Master, we know that thou art a true speaker, and carest not for any man; for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth. Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar; or shall we not give it?	14 Vienen y le dicen: «Maestro, sabemos que eres veraz y que no te importa por nadie, porque no miras la condición de las personas, sino que enseñas con franqueza el camino de Dios: ¿Es lícito pagar tributo al César o no? ¿Pagamos o dejamos de pagar?»
15 Who knowing their wiliness, saith to them: Why tempt you me? bring me a penny that I may see it.	15 Mas él, dándose cuenta de su hipocresía, les dijo: «¿Por qué me tentáis? Traedme un denario, que lo vea».
16 And they brought it him. And he saith to them: Whose is this image and inscription? They say to him, Caesar's.	16 Se lo trajeron y les dice: «¿De quién es esta imagen y la inscripción?» Ellos le dijeron: «Del César».
17 And Jesus answering, said to them: Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at him.	17 Jesús les dijo: «Lo del César, devolvédselo al César, y lo de Dios, a Dios». Y se maravillaban de él.
18 And there came to him the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying:	18 Se le acercan unos saduceos, esos que niegan que haya resurrección, y le preguntaban:
19 Master, Moses wrote unto us, that if any man's brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed to his brother.	19 «Maestro, Moisés nos dejó escrito que si muere el hermano de alguno y deja mujer y no deja hijos, que su hermano tome a la mujer para dar descendencia a su hermano.
20 Now there were seven brethren; and the first took a wife, and died leaving no issue.	20 Eran siete hermanos: el primero tomó mujer, pero murió sin dejar descendencia;
21 And the second took her, and died: and neither did he leave any issue. And the third in like manner.	21 también el segundo la tomó y murió sin dejar descendencia; y el tercero lo mismo.
22 And the seven all took her in like manner; and did not leave issue. Last of all the woman also died.	22 Ninguno de los siete dejó descendencia. Después de todos, murió también la mujer.
23 In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise again, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife.	23 En la resurrección, cuando resuciten, ¿de cuál de ellos será mujer? Porque los siete la tuvieron por mujer».
24 And Jesus answering, saith to them: Do ye not therefore err, because you know not the scriptures, nor the power of God?	24 Jesús les contestó: «¿No estáis en un error precisamente por esto, por no entender las Escrituras ni el poder de Dios?
25 For when they shall rise again from the dead, they shall neither marry, nor be married, but are as the angels in heaven.	25 Pues cuando resuciten de entre los muertos, ni ellos tomarán mujer ni ellas marido, sino que serán como ángeles en los cielos.
26 And as concerning the dead that they rise again, have you not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spoke to him, saying: I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?	26 Y acerca de que los muertos resucitan, ¿no habéis leído en el libro de Moisés, en lo de la zarza, cómo Dios le dijo: Yo soy el Dios de Abraham, el Dios de Isaac y el Dios de Jacob?
27 He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You therefore do greatly err.	27 No es un Dios de muertos, sino de vivos. Estáis en un gran error».
28 And there came one of the scribes that had heard them reasoning together, and seeing that he had answered them well, asked him which was the first commandment of all.	28 Acercóse uno de los escribas que les había oído y, viendo que les había respondido muy bien, le preguntó: «¿Cuál es el primero de todos los mandamientos?»
29 And Jesus answered him: The first commandment of all is, Hear, O Israel: the Lord thy God is one God.	29 Jesús le contestó: «El primero es: Escucha, Israel: El Señor, nuestro Dios, es el único Señor,
30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God, with thy whole heart, and with thy whole soul, and with thy whole mind, and with thy whole strength. This is the first commandment.	30 y amarás al Señor, tu Dios, con todo tu corazón, con toda tu alma, con toda tu mente y con todas tus fuerzas.
31 And the second is like to it: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is no other commandment greater than these.	31 El segundo es: Amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo. No existe otro mandamiento mayor que éstos».
32 And the scribe said to him: Well, Master, thou hast said in truth, that there is one God, and there is no other besides him.	32 Le dijo el escriba: «Muy bien, Maestro; tienes razón al decir que El es único y que no hay otro fuera de El,
33 And that he should be loved with the whole heart, and with the whole understanding, and with the whole soul, and with the whole strength; and to love one's neighbour as one's self, is a greater thing than all holocausts and sacrifices.	33 y amarle con todo el corazón, con toda la inteligencia y con todas las fuerzas, y amar al prójimo como a si mismo vale más que todos los holocaustos y sacrificios».
34 And Jesus seeing that he had answered wisely, said to him: Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.	34 Y Jesús, viendo que le había contestado con sensatez, le dijo: «No estás lejos del Reino de Dios». Y nadie más se atrevía ya a hacerle preguntas.
35 And Jesus answering, said, teaching in the temple: How do the scribes say, that Christ is the son of David?	35 Jesús, tomando la palabra, decía mientras enseñaba en el Templo: «¿Cómo dicen los escribas que el Cristo es hijo de David?
36 For David himself saith by the Holy Ghost: The Lord said to my Lord, Sit on my right hand, until I make thy enemies thy footstool.	36 David mismo dijo, movido por el Espíritu Santo: Dijo el Señor a mi Señor: Siéntate a mi diestra hasta que ponga a tus enemigos debajo de tus pies.
37 David therefore himself calleth him Lord, and whence is he then his son? And a great multitude heard him gladly.	37 El mismo David le llama Señor; ¿cómo entonces puede ser hijo suyo?» La muchedumbre le oía con agrado.
38 And he said to them in his doctrine: Beware of the scribes, who love to walk in long robes, and to be saluted in the marketplace,	38 Decía también en su instrucción: «Guardaos de los escribas, que gustan pasear con amplio ropaje, ser saludados en las plazas,
39 And to sit in the first chairs, in the synagogues, and to have the highest places at suppers:	39 ocupar los primeros asientos en las sinagogas y los primeros puestos en los banquetes;
40 Who devour the houses of widows under the pretence of long prayer: these shall receive greater judgment.	40 y que devoran la hacienda de las viudas so capa de largas oraciones. Esos tendrán una sentencia más rigurosa.
41 And Jesus sitting over against the treasury, beheld how the people cast money into the treasury, and many that were rich cast in much.	41 Jesús se sentó frente al arca del Tesoro y miraba cómo echaba la gente monedas en el arca del Tesoro: muchos ricos echaban mucho.
42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she cast in two mites, which make a farthing.	42 Llegó también una viuda pobre y echó dos moneditas, o sea, una cuarta parte del as.
43 And calling his disciples together, he saith to them: Amen I say to you, this poor widow hath cast in more than all they who have cast into the treasury.	43 Entonces, llamando a sus discípulos, les dijo: «Os digo de verdad que esta viuda pobre ha echado más que todos los que echan en el arca del Tesoro.
44 For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want cast in all she had, even her whole living.	44 Pues todos han echado de los que les sobraba, ésta, en cambio, ha echado de lo que necesitaba todo cuanto poseía, todo lo que tenía para vivir.
