1 And having called his twelve disciples together, he gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of diseases, and all manner of infirmities.	1 Chiamati a sé i suoi dodici discepoli, diede loro potere sugli spiriti impuri per scacciarli e guarire ogni malattia e ogni infermità.
2 And the names of the twelve apostles are these: The first, Simon who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother,	2 I nomi dei dodici apostoli sono: primo, Simone, chiamato Pietro, e Andrea suo fratello; Giacomo, figlio di Zebedeo, e Giovanni suo fratello;
3 James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, Philip and Bartholomew, Thomas and Matthew the publican, and James the son of Alpheus, and Thaddeus,	3 Filippo e Bartolomeo; Tommaso e Matteo il pubblicano; Giacomo, figlio di Alfeo, e Taddeo;
4 Simon the Cananean, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.	4 Simone il Cananeo e Giuda l’Iscariota, colui che poi lo tradì.
5 These twelve Jesus sent: commanding them, saying: Go ye not into the way of the Gentiles, and into the city of the Samaritans enter ye not.	5 Questi sono i Dodici che Gesù inviò, ordinando loro: «Non andate fra i pagani e non entrate nelle città dei Samaritani;
6 But go ye rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.	6 rivolgetevi piuttosto alle pecore perdute della casa d’Israele.
7 And going, preach, saying: The kingdom of heaven is at hand.	7 Strada facendo, predicate, dicendo che il regno dei cieli è vicino.
8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out devils: freely have you received, freely give.	8 Guarite gli infermi, risuscitate i morti, purificate i lebbrosi, scacciate i demòni. Gratuitamente avete ricevuto, gratuitamente date.
9 Do not possess gold, nor silver, nor money in your purses:	9 Non procuratevi oro né argento né denaro nelle vostre cinture,
10 Nor scrip for your journey, nor two coats, nor shoes, nor a staff; for the workman is worthy of his meat.	10 né sacca da viaggio, né due tuniche, né sandali, né bastone, perché chi lavora ha diritto al suo nutrimento.
11 And into whatsoever city or town you shall enter, inquire who in it is worthy, and there abide till you go thence.	11 In qualunque città o villaggio entriate, domandate chi là sia degno e rimanetevi finché non sarete partiti.
12 And when you come into the house, salute it, saying: Peace be to this house.	12 Entrando nella casa, rivolgetele il saluto.
13 And if that house be worthy, your peace shall come upon it; but if it be not worthy, your peace shall return to you.	13 Se quella casa ne è degna, la vostra pace scenda su di essa; ma se non ne è degna, la vostra pace ritorni a voi.
14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words: going forth out of that house or city shake off the dust from your feet.	14 Se qualcuno poi non vi accoglie e non dà ascolto alle vostre parole, uscite da quella casa o da quella città e scuotete la polvere dei vostri piedi.
15 Amen I say to you, it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.	15 In verità io vi dico: nel giorno del giudizio la terra di Sòdoma e Gomorra sarà trattata meno duramente di quella città.
16 Behold I send you as sheep in the midst of wolves. Be ye therefore wise as serpents and simple as doves.	16 Ecco: io vi mando come pecore in mezzo a lupi; siate dunque prudenti come i serpenti e semplici come le colombe.
17 But beware of men. For they will deliver you up in councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues.	17 Guardatevi dagli uomini, perché vi consegneranno ai tribunali e vi flagelleranno nelle loro sinagoghe;
18 And you shall be brought before governors, and before kings for my sake, for a testimony to them and to the Gentiles:	18 e sarete condotti davanti a governatori e re per causa mia, per dare testimonianza a loro e ai pagani.
19 But when they shall deliver you up, take no thought how or what to speak: for it shall be given you in that hour what to speak.	19 Ma, quando vi consegneranno, non preoccupatevi di come o di che cosa direte, perché vi sarà dato in quell’ora ciò che dovrete dire:
20 For it is not you that speak, but the Spirit of your Father that speaketh in you.	20 infatti non siete voi a parlare, ma è lo Spirito del Padre vostro che parla in voi.
21 The brother also shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the son: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and shall put them to death.	21 Il fratello farà morire il fratello e il padre il figlio, e i figli si alzeranno ad accusare i genitori e li uccideranno.
22 And you shall be hated by all men for my name's sake: but he that shall persevere unto the end, he shall be saved.	22 Sarete odiati da tutti a causa del mio nome. Ma chi avrà perseverato fino alla fine sarà salvato.
23 And when they shall persecute you in this city, flee into another. Amen I say to you, you shall not finish all the cities of Israel, till the Son of man come.	23 Quando sarete perseguitati in una città, fuggite in un’altra; in verità io vi dico: non avrete finito di percorrere le città d’Israele, prima che venga il Figlio dell’uomo.
24 The disciple is not above the master, nor the servant above his lord.	24 Un discepolo non è più grande del maestro, né un servo è più grande del suo signore;
25 It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the goodman of the house Beelzebub, how much more them of his household?	25 è sufficiente per il discepolo diventare come il suo maestro e per il servo come il suo signore. Se hanno chiamato Beelzebùl il padrone di casa, quanto più quelli della sua famiglia!
26 Therefore fear them not. For nothing is covered that shall not be revealed: nor hid, that shall not be known.	26 Non abbiate dunque paura di loro, poiché nulla vi è di nascosto che non sarà svelato né di segreto che non sarà conosciuto.
27 That which I tell you in the dark, speak ye in the light: and that which you hear in the ear, preach ye upon the housetops.	27 Quello che io vi dico nelle tenebre voi ditelo nella luce, e quello che ascoltate all’orecchio voi annunciatelo dalle terrazze.
28 And fear ye not them that kill the body, and are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him that can destroy both soul and body in hell.	28 E non abbiate paura di quelli che uccidono il corpo, ma non hanno potere di uccidere l’anima; abbiate paura piuttosto di colui che ha il potere di far perire nella Geènna e l’anima e il corpo.
29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and not one of them shall fall on the ground without your Father.	29 Due passeri non si vendono forse per un soldo? Eppure nemmeno uno di essi cadrà a terra senza il volere del Padre vostro.
30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.	30 Perfino i capelli del vostro capo sono tutti contati.
31 Fear not therefore: better are you than many sparrows.	31 Non abbiate dunque paura: voi valete più di molti passeri!
32 Every one therefore that shall confess me before men, I will also confess him before my Father who is in heaven.	32 Perciò chiunque mi riconoscerà davanti agli uomini, anch’io lo riconoscerò davanti al Padre mio che è nei cieli;
33 But he that shall deny me before men, I will also deny him before my Father who is in heaven.	33 chi invece mi rinnegherà davanti agli uomini, anch’io lo rinnegherò davanti al Padre mio che è nei cieli.
34 Do not think that I came to send peace upon earth: I came not to send peace, but the sword.	34 Non crediate che io sia venuto a portare pace sulla terra; sono venuto a portare non pace, ma spada.
35 For I came to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.	35 Sono infatti venuto a separare l’uomo da suo padre e la figlia da sua madre e la nuora da sua suocera;
36 And as a man's enemies shall be they of his own household.	36 e nemici dell’uomo saranno quelli della sua casa.
37 He that loveth father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me, is not worthy of me.	37 Chi ama padre o madre più di me, non è degno di me; chi ama figlio o figlia più di me, non è degno di me;
38 And he that taketh not up his cross, and followeth me, is not worthy of me.	38 chi non prende la propria croce e non mi segue, non è degno di me.
39 He that findeth his life, shall lose it: and he that shall lose his life for me, shall find it.	39 Chi avrà tenuto per sé la propria vita, la perderà, e chi avrà perduto la propria vita per causa mia, la troverà.
40 He that receiveth you, receiveth me: and he that receiveth me, receiveth him that sent me.	40 Chi accoglie voi accoglie me, e chi accoglie me accoglie colui che mi ha mandato.
41 He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet, shall receive the reward of a prophet: and he that receiveth a just man in the name of a just man, shall receive the reward of a just man.	41 Chi accoglie un profeta perché è un profeta, avrà la ricompensa del profeta, e chi accoglie un giusto perché è un giusto, avrà la ricompensa del giusto.
42 And whosoever shall give to drink to one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, amen I say to you, he shall not lose his reward.	42 Chi avrà dato da bere anche un solo bicchiere d’acqua fresca a uno di questi piccoli perché è un discepolo, in verità io vi dico: non perderà la sua ricompensa».
