Isaiah 54

DOUAI-RHEIMS	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Give praise, O thou barren, that bearest not: sing forth praise, and make a joyful noise, thou that didst not travail with child: for many are the children of the desolate, more than of her that hath a husband, saith the Lord.	1 Giubila, o sterile, che non hai generato; prorompi in giubilo ed esulta, tu che non hai avuto le doglie! Perché i figli dell'abbandonata sono più numerosi dei figli della maritata, dice il Signore.
2 Enlarge the place of thy tent, and stretch out the skins of thy tabernacles, spare not: lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes.	2 Allarga lo spazio della tua tenda, distendi i teli delle tue dimore senza risparmio! Allunga le tue corde, fissa bene i tuoi pioli,
3 For thou shalt pass on to the right hand, and to the left: and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and shall inhabit the desolate cities.	3 perché ti espanderai a destra e a sinistra; la tua discendenza possederà le nazioni e popolerà le città abbandonate.
4 Fear not, for thou shalt not be confounded, nor blush: for thou shalt not be put to shame, because thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt remember no more the reproach of thy widowhood.	4 Non temere, perché non sarai confusa, non aver vergogna, perché non dovrai arrossire. Anzi dimenticherai l'onta della tua giovinezza, e non ricorderai più il disonore della tua vedovanza.
5 For he that made thee shall rule over thee, the Lord of hosts is his name: and thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, shall be called the God of all the earth.	5 Poiché tuo sposo è il tuo creatore, il cui nome è Signore degli eserciti; il tuo redentore è il Santo d'Israele, chiamato Dio di tutta la terra.
6 For the Lord hath called thee as woman forsaken and mourning in spirit, end se a wife cast off from her youth, said thy God.	6 Sì, come una donna abbandonata e afflitta di spirito, ti chiama il Signore; la donna sposata in gioventù viene forse ripudiata?, dice il tuo Dio.
7 For a, small moment have I forsaken thee, but with great mercies will I gather thee.	7 Ti ho abbandonata per un breve istante, ma ti riprenderò con grande compassione.
8 In a moment of indignation have I hid my face a little while from thee, but with everlasting kindness have I had mercy on thee, said the Lord thy Redeemer.	8 In un eccesso di collera ho nascosto per un istante la mia faccia da te, ma con eterno amore ho avuto pietà di te, dice il tuo redentore, il Signore.
9 This thing is to me as in the days of Noe, to whom I swore, that I would no more bring in the waters of Noe upon the earth: so have I sworn not to be angry with thee, and not to rebuke thee.	9 Faccio come ai giorni di Noè, quando giurai che le acque di Noè non avrebbero più inondato la terra; così giuro di non adirarmi più contro di te e di non inveire più contro di te.
10 For the mountains shall be moved, and the hills shall tremble; but my mercy shall not depart from thee, and the covenant of my peace shall not be moved: said the Lord that hath mercy on thee.	10 Poiché i monti possono spostarsi e i colli vacillare, ma la mia benevolenza non si allontanerà da te e il mio patto di pace non vacillerà, dice il Signore, che ha misericordia di te.
11 O poor little one, tossed with tempest, without all comfort, behold I will lay thy stones in order, and will lay thy foundations with sapphires,	11 Afflitta, battuta, sconsolata! Ecco, io pongo le tue pietre sulla malachite e ti fonderò sugli zaffiri.
12 And I will make thy bulwarks of jasper: and thy gates of graven stones, and all thy borders of desirable stones.	12 Farò di rubini le tue merlature, le tue porte di pietra di smeraldo e tutto il recinto di pietre preziose.
13 All thy children shall be taught of the Lord: and great shall be the peace of thy children.	13 Tutti i tuoi figli saranno istruiti dal Signore, grande sarà la pace dei tuoi figli.
14 And thou shalt be founded in justice: depart far from oppression, for thou shalt not fear; and from terror, for it shall not come near thee.	14 Tu sarai fondata sulla giustizia. Tienti lontana dalla violenza, perché non avrai più a temere, e dal terrore, perché non si avvicinerà più a te.
15 Behold, an inhabitant shall come, who was not with me, he that was a stranger to thee before, shall be joined to thee.	15 Ecco, non vi è chi attacca da parte mia; chi ti attacca, cadrà su di te.
16 Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and bringeth forth an instrument for his work, and I have created the killer to destroy.	16 Ecco, io ho creato il fabbro che soffia in un fuoco rovente, che trae uno strumento per il suo lavoro, e ho creato pure il guastatore per distruggere.
17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper: and every tongue that resisteth thee in judgment, thou shalt condemn. This is the inheritance of the servants of the Lord, and their justice with me, saith the Lord.	17 Ogni arma forgiata contro di te fallirà, e tu condannerai ogni lingua che sorga contro di te in giudizio. Questa è la sorte dei servitori del Signore e il loro buon diritto da parte mia. Oracolo del Signore.
