Sirach 42

DOUAI-RHEIMS	BIBLIA
1 Repeat not the word which thou hast heard, and disclose not the thing that is secret; so shalt thou be truly without confusion, and shah find favour before all men: be not ashamed of any of these things, and accept no person to sin thereby:	1 Pero de lo que sigue no te avergüences, y no peques por tener acepción de personas:
2 Of the law of the most High, and of his covenant, and of judgment to justify the ungodly:	2 de la ley del Altísimo y de su alianza, del juicio que justifica a los impíos,
3 Of the affair of companions and travellers, and of the gift of the inheritance of friends:	3 de contar con compañero de viaje, de dar la herencia a compañeros,
4 Of exactness of balance and weights, of getting much or little:	4 de la exactitud de balanzas y pesas, de obtener grandes y pequeñas ganancias,
5 Of the corruption of buying, and of merchants, and of much correction of children, and to make the side of a wicked slave to bleed.	5 de provecho en la venta a comerciantes, de la copiosa instrucción de los hijos, de ensangrentar las costillas de un mal siervo.
6 Sure keeping is good over a wicked wife.	6 Con mujer mala es bueno usar el sello, y, donde hay muchas manos, echa la llave.
7 Where there are many hands, shut up, and deliver all things in number, and weight: and put all in writing that thou givest out or receivest in.	7 Lo que entregues, hazlo con cuenta y medida, el haber y el debe, sea todo por escrito.
8 Be not ashamed to inform the unwise and foolish, and the aged, that are judged I by young men: and thou shalt be well instructed in all things, and well approved in the sight of all men living.	8 No te avergüences de enseñar al tonto y al necio, y al viejo acabado juzgado como joven. Serás entonces de verdad educado, y estimado de todo viviente.
9 The father waketh for the daughter when no man knoweth, and the care for her taketh away his sleep, when she is young, lest she pass away the flower of her age, and when she is married, lest she should be hateful:	9 Una hija es para el padre un secreto desvelo, aleja el sueño la inquietud por ella. En su juventud, miedo a que se le pase la edad, si está casada, a que sea aborrecida.
10 In her virginity, lest she should be corrupted, and be found with child in her father's house: and having a husband, lest she should misbehave herself, or at the least become barren.	10 Cuando virgen, no sea mancillada y en la casa paterna quede encinta. Cuando casada, a que sea infiel, cohabitando, a que sea estéril.
11 Keep a sure watch over a shameless daughter: lest at any time she make thee become a laughingstock to thy enemies, and a byword in the city, and a reproach among the people, and she make thee ashamed before all the multitude.	11 Sobre la hija desenvuelta refuerza la vigilancia, no sea que te haga la irrisión de tus enemigos, comidilla en la ciudad, corrillos en el pueblo, y ante el vulgo espeso te avergüence.
12 Behold not everybody's beauty: and tarry not among women.	12 De ningún hombre te quedes mirando la belleza, y entre mujeres no te sientes.
13 For from garments cometh a moth, end from a woman the iniquity of a man.	13 Porque de los vestidos sale la polilla, y de la mujer la malicia femenina.
14 For better is the iniquity of a man, than a woman doing a good turn, and a woman bringing shame and reproach.	14 Vale más maldad de hombre que bondad de mujer, la mujer cubre de vergüenza y oprobio.
15 I will now remember the works of the Lord, and I will declare the things I have seen. By the words of the Lord are his works.	15 Voy a evocar las obras del Señor, lo que tengo visto contaré. Por las palabras del Señor fueron hechas sus obras, y la creación está sometida a su voluntad.
16 The sun giving light hath looked upon all things, and full of the glory of the Lord is his work.	16 El sol mira a todo iluminándolo, de la gloria del Señor está llena su obra.
17 Hath not the Lord made the saints to declare all his wonderful works, which the Lord Almighty hath firmly settled to be established for his glory?	17 No son capaces los Santos del Señor de contar todas sus maravillas, que firmemente estableció el Señor omnipotente, para que en su gloria el universo subsistiera.
18 He hath searched out the deep, and the heart of men: and considered their crafty devices.	18 El sondea el abismo y el corazón humano, y sus secretos cálculos penetra. Pues el Altísimo todo saber conoce, y fija sus ojos en las señales de los tiempos.
19 For the Lord knoweth all knowledge, and hath beheld the signs of the world, he declareth the things that are past, and the things that are to come, and revealeth the traces of hidden things.	19 Anuncia lo pasado y lo futuro, y descubre las huellas de las cosas secretas.
20 No thought escapeth him, and no word can hide itself from him.	20 No se le escapa ningún pensamiento, ni una palabra se le oculta.
21 He hath beautified the glorious works of his wisdom: and he Is from eternity to eternity, and to him nothing may be added,	21 Las grandezas de su sabiduría las puso en orden, porque él es antes de la eternidad y por la eternidad; nada le ha sido añadido ni quitado, y de ningún consejero necesita.
22 Nor can he be diminished, and he hath no need of any counsellor.	22 ¡Qué amables son todas sus obras!: como una centella hay que contemplarlas.
23 O how desirable are all his works, and what we can know is but as a spark!	23 Todo esto vive y permanece eternamente, para cualquier menester todo obedece.
24 All these things live, and remain for ever, and for every use all things obey him.	24 Todas las cosas de dos en dos, una frente a otra, y nada ha hecho deficiente.
25 All things are double, one against another, and he hath made nothing defective.	25 Cada cosa afirma la excelencia de la otra, ¿quién se hartará de contemplar su gloria?
26 He hath established the good things of every one. And who shall be filled with beholding his glory?
