Unto the end, in verses. A psalm of David.1 [For the choirmaster For strings Psalm Of David] When I cal , answer me, God, upholder of my right. Inmy distress you have set me at large; take pity on me and hear my prayer!
When I called upon him, the God of my justice heard me: when I was in distress, thou hast enlarged me. Have mercy on me: and hear my prayer.2 Children of men, how long will you be heavy of heart, why love what is vain and chase afteril usions?Pause
O ye sons of men, how long will you be dull of heart? why do you love vanity, and seek after lying?3 Realise that Yahweh performs wonders for his faithful, Yahweh listens when I call to him.
Know ye also that the Lord hath made his holy one wonderful: the Lord will hear me when I shall cry unto him.4 Be careful not to sin, speak in your hearts, and on your beds keep silence.Pause
Be angry, and sin not: the things you say in your hearts, be sorry for them upon your beds.5 Loyally offer sacrifices, and trust in Yahweh.
Offer up the sacrifice of justice, and trust in the Lord: many say, Who sheweth us good things?6 Many keep saying, 'Who wil put happiness before our eyes?' Let the light of your face shine on us.Yahweh,
The light of thy countenance O Lord, is signed upon us: thou hast given gladness in my heart.7 to my heart you are a richer joy than al their corn and new wine.
By the fruit of their corn, their wine and oil, they are multiplied.8 In peace I lie down and at once fall asleep, for it is you and none other, Yahweh, who make me restsecure.
In peace in the selfsame I will sleep, and I will rest:
for thou, O Lord, singularly hast settled me in hope.
