1 And David being old and full of days, made Solomon his son king over Israel.	1 Cuando David ya era un anciano de edad muy avanzada, proclamó a su hijo Salomón rey de Israel.
2 And he gathered together all the princes of Israel, and the priests and Levites.	2 Reunió a todos los jefes de Israel, a los sacerdotes y a los levitas,
3 And the Levites were numbered from the age of thirty years, and upwards: and there were found of them thirty-eight thousand men.	3 y se hizo el censo de los levitas mayores de treinta años: su número, contados uno por uno, sumaba 38.000 hombres.
4 Of these twenty-four thousand were chosen, and distributed unto the ministry of the house of the Lord: and six thousand were the overseers and judges.	4 De estos, 24.000 estaban al frente del servicio de la Casa del Señor; 6.000 eran escribas y jueces,
5 Moreover four thousand were porters: and as many singers singing to the Lord with the instruments, which he had made to sing with.	5 4.000 porteros, y los otros 4.000 alababan al Señor con los instrumentos que David había fabricado con ese fin.
6 And David distributed them into courses by the families of the sons of Levi, to wit, of Gerson, and of Caath, and of Merari.	6 David los distribuyó por clases, según los hijos de Leví: Gersón, Quehat y Merarí.
7 The sons of Gerson were Leedan and Semei.	7 Los descendientes de Gersón fueron Ladán y Simei.
8 The sons of Leedan: the chief Jahiel, and Zethan, and Joel, three.	8 Los hijos de Ladán fueron Iejiel, el primero, y luego, Zetam y Joel: tres en total.
9 The sons of Semei: Salomith, and Hosiel, and Aran, three: these were the heads of the families of Leedan.	9 Los hijos de Simei fueron Selomit, Jaziel y Harán: tres en total. Estos fueron los jefes de sus familias de Ladán.
10 And the sons of Semei were Leheth, and Ziza, and Jaus, and Baria: these were the sons of Semei, four.	10 Los hijos de Simei fueron Iájat, Zizá, Ieús y Beriá. Estos fueron los cuatro hijos de Simei.
11 And Leheth was the first, Ziza the second: but Jaus and Baria had not many children, and therefore they were counted in one family, and in one house.	11 Iájat era el jefe y Zizá el segundo; Ieús y Beriá no tuvieron muchos hijos, por lo cual fueron registrados en el censo como una sola familia.
12 The sons of Caath were Amram, and Isaar, Hebron, and Oziel, four.	12 Los descendientes de Quehat fueron Amram, Ishar, Hebrón y Uziel: cuatro en total.
13 The sons of Amram, Aaron, and Moses. And Aaron was separated to minister in the holy of holies, he and his sons for ever, and to burn incense before the Lord, according to his ceremonies, and to bless his name for ever.	13 Los hijos de Amram fueron Aarón y Moisés. Aarón fue separado, junto con sus hijos, para consagrar perpetuamente las cosas santísimas, para quemar incienso delante del Señor, y para servirlo y bendecir en su Nombre eternamente.
14 The sons also of Moses, the man of God, were numbered in the tribe of Levi.	14 En cuanto a Moisés, hombre de Dios, sus hijos fueron contados en la tribu de Leví.
15 The sons of Moses were Gersom and Eliezer:	15 Los hijos de Moisés fueron Gersón y Eliezer.
16 The sons of Gersom: Subuel the first.	16 El primer hijo de Gersón fue Sebuel,
17 And the sons of Eliezer were: Rohobia the first: and Eliezer had no more sons. But the sons of Rohobia were multiplied exceedingly.	17 y el primer hijo de Eliezer, Rejabías. Eliezer no tuvo más hijos, pero los hijos de Rejabías fueron muy numerosos.
18 The sons of Isaar: Salomith the first.	18 El primer hijo de Ishar fue Selomit.
19 The sons of Hebron: Jeriau the first, Amarias the second, Jahaziel the third, Jecmaam the fourth.	19 Los hijos de Hebrón fueron Ieriías, el primero, Amarías, el segundo, Iajaziel, el tercero, y Iecamam, el cuarto.
20 The sons of Oziel: Micha the first, Jesia the second.	20 Los hijos de Uziel fueron Micá, el primero, e Isías, el segundo.
21 The sons of Merari: Moholi, and Musi. The sons of Moholi: Eleazar and Cia.	21 Los hijos de Merarí fueron Majlí y Musí. Los hijos de Majlí fueron Eleazar y Quis.
22 And Eleazar died, and had no sons but daughters: and the sons of Cis their brethren took them.	22 Eleazar murió sin tener hijos; sólo tuvo hijas, y los hijos de Quis, sus hermanos, las tornaron por esposas.
23 The sons of Musi: Moholi, and Eder, and Jerimoth, three.	23 Los hijos de Musí fueron Majlí, Eder y Ieremot: tres en total.
24 These are the sons of Levi in their kindreds and families, princes by their courses, and the number of every head that did the works of the ministry of the house of the Lord from twenty years old and upward.	24 Estos son los hijos de Leví, según sus familias, los jefes de ellas, registrados nominalmente en el censo, uno por uno. Ellos estaban dedicados al servicio de la Casa del Señor, a partir de los veinte años de edad.
25 For David said: The Lord the God of Israel hath given rest to his people, and a habitation in Jerusalem for ever.	25 Porque David había dicho: «El Señor, el Dios de Israel, ha dado paz a su pueblo y habita en Jerusalén para siempre.
26 And it shall not be the office of the Levites to carry any more the tabernacle, and all the vessels for the service thereof.	26 De manera que los levitas ya no tienen que transportar la Morada ni todos los utensilios destinados a su servicio».
27 So according to the last precepts of David, the sons of Levi are to be numbered from twenty years old and upward.	27 Conforme a estas últimas disposiciones de David, se hizo el cómputo de los hijos de Leví de veinte años para arriba.
28 And they are to be under the hand of the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the Lord, in the porches, and in the chambers, and in the place of purification, and in the sanctuary, and in all the works of the ministry of the temple of the Lord.	28 Estaban a las órdenes de los hijos de Aarón, para el servicio de la Casa del Señor, teniendo a su cargo los atrios y las habitaciones, la purificación de todas las cosas sagradas y la obra del servicio de la Casa de Dios.
29 And the priests have the charge of the leaves of proposition, and of the sacrifice of fine flour, and of the unleavened cakes, and of the fryingpan, and of the roasting, and of every weight and measure.	29 Asimismo, tenían a su cargo los panes de la ofrenda, la harina para la oblación, las tortas sin levadura, las ofrendas fritas a la sartén o cocidas, y todas las medidas de capacidad y longitud.
30 And the Levites are to stand in the morning to give thanks, and to sing praises to the Lord: and in like manner in the evening,	30 Tenían que presentarse cada mañana y cada tarde, para dar gracias y alabar al Señor.
31 As well in the oblation of the holocausts of the Lord, as in the sabbaths and in the new moons, and the rest of the solemnities, according to the number and ceremonies prescribed for every thing, continually before the Lord.	31 Además, debían ofrecer los holocaustos al Señor en los sábados, novilunios y solemnidades, según el número y el rito establecido delante del Señor para siempre.
32 And let them keep the observances of the tabernacle of the covenant, and the ceremonies of the sanctuary, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, that they may minister in the house of the Lord.	32 En resumen, ellos tenían a su cargo el cuidado de la Carpa del Encuentro y la custodia del Santuario, y debían servir a los hijos de Aarón, sus hermanos, en el culto de la Casa del Señor.
