1 And it came to pass after this that David defeated the Philistines, and brought them down, and David took the bridle of tribute out of the hand of the Philistines.	1 - Dopo queste cose Davide sconfisse i Filistei e li umiliò e prese dalle mani dei Filistei il comando della fortezza.
2 And he defeated Moab, and measured them with a line, casting them down to the earth: and he measured with two lines, one to put to death, and one to save alive: and Moab was made to serve David under tribute.	2 Sconfisse pure i Moabiti e distesili per terra, li misurò con una corda e ne misurò due parti, una di quelli che dovevano essere uccisi e l'altra di quelli che dovevano conservarsi in vita. E Moab divenne tributario di Davide.
3 David defeated also Adarezer the son of Rohob king of Soba, when he went to extend his dominion over the river Euphrates.	3 Davide sconfisse anche Adarezer figlio di Roob re di Soba, allorchè questi partì per dominare sul fiume Eufrate.
4 And David took from him a thousand and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen, and houghed all the chariot horses: and only reserved of them for one hundred chariots.	4 Davide gli prese millesettecento cavalieri e ventimila pedoni, tagliò i garretti a tutti i cavalli da tiro e si riservò [dei cavalli] per cento carri.
5 And the Syrians of Damascus came to succour Adarezer the king of Soba: and David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.	5 Anche la Siria di Damasco era venuta in aiuto di Adarezer re di Soba, e Davide sconfisse ventiduemila Siri,
6 And David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus: and Syria served David under tribute: and the Lord preserved David in all his enterprises, whithersoever he went.	6 e posto nella Siria di Damasco un presidio, si assoggettò la Siria e la sottopose ad un tributo. Il Signore poi conservò Davide in tutti i luoghi dove era andato.
7 And David took the arms of gold, which the servants of Adarezer wore, and brought them to Jerusalem.	7 Davide prese le armi d'oro che avevano i servi di Adarezer le portò a Gerusalemme.
8 And out of Bete, and out of Beroth, cities of Adarezer, king David took an exceeding great quantity of brass.	8 Parimenti, da Bete e da Berot, città di Adarezer, Davide portò via gran quantità di rame.
9 And Thou the king of Emath heard that David had defeated all the forces of Adarezer.	9 Avendo Tou re di Emat udito che Davide aveva disfatto tutto l'esercito di Adarezer,
10 And Thou sent Joram his son to king David, to salute him, and to congratulate with him, and to return him thanks: because he had fought against Adarezer, and had defeated him. For Thou was an enemy to Adarezer, and in his hand were vessels of gold, and vessels of silver, and vessels of brass:	10 inviò al re Davide il figliuolo suo Joram per salutarlo, per congratularsi con lui e per ringraziarlo d'aver sconfitto Adarezer e di averlo battuto, perchè Tou era nemico di Adarezer. Joram aveva portato seco vasi di oro, d'argento e di rame
11 And king David dedicated them to the Lord, together with the silver and gold that he had dedicated of all the nations, which he had subdued:	11 e anche questi furono dal re Davide consacrati al Signore, come già aveva consacrato l'argento e l'oro preso alle nazioni da lui soggiogate,
12 Of Syria, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalec, and of the spoils of Adarezer the son of Rohob king of Soba.	12 cioè alla Siria, a Moab, ai figli di Ammon, ai Filistei, agli Amaleciti e al bottino di Adarezer figlio di Roob re di Soba.
13 David also made himself a name, when he returned after taking Syria in the valley of the saltpits, killing eighteen thousand:	13 Davide acquistò pure molta celebrità quando, di ritorno dall'aver soggiogata la Siria, sconfisse nella valle delle Saline, diciottomila uomini.
14 And he put guards in Edom, and placed there a garrison: and all Edom was made to serve David: and the Lord preserved David in all enterprises he went about.	14 Anche nella Idumea collocò guarnigioni e stabilì un presidio e tutta l'Idumea fu soggetta a Davide. Il Signore poi protesse Davide in tutti i luoghi dove andò.
15 And David reigned over all Israel: and David did judgment and justice to all his people.	15 Davide regnò sopra tutto Israele e rendeva ragione e giustizia a tutto il suo popolo.
16 And Joab the son of Sarvia was over the army: and Josaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder:	16 Joab figliuolo di Sarvia comandava all'esercito; Josafat figlio di Ailud faceva da istoriografo,
17 And Sadoc the son of Achitob, and Achimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests: and Saraias was the scribe:	17 Sadoc figlio di Achitob e Achimelec figlio di Abiatar erano sacerdoti, Saraia era lo scriba,
18 And Banaias the son of Joiada was over the Cerethi and Phelethi: and the sons of David were the princes.	18 Banaia figlio di Joiada era capo dei Ceretei e dei Feletei, mentre i figli di Davide fungevano da Ministri.
