1 Corintios 10

EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Porque no deben ignorar, hermanos, que todos nuestros padres fueron guiados por la nube y todos atravesaron el mar;	1 I want you to be quite certain, brothers, that our ancestors al had the cloud over them and al passedthrough the sea.
2 y para todos, la marcha bajo la nube y el paso del mar, fue un bautismo que los unió a Moisés.	2 In the cloud and in the sea they were all baptised into Moses;
3 También todos comieron la misma comida y bebieron la misma bebida espiritual.	3 al ate the same spiritual food
4 En efecto, bebían el agua de una roca espiritual que los acompañaba, y esa roca era Cristo.	4 and al drank the same spiritual drink, since they drank from the spiritual rock which fol owed them,and that rock was Christ.
5 A pesar de esto, muy pocos de ellos fueron agradables a Dios, porque sus cuerpos quedaron tendidos en el desierto.	5 In spite of this, God was not pleased with most of them, and their corpses were scattered over thedesert.
6 Todo esto aconteció simbólicamente para ejemplo nuestro, a fin de que no nos dejemos arrastrar por los malos deseos, como lo hicieron nuestros padres.	6 Now these happenings were examples, for our benefit, so that we should never set our hearts, as theydid, on evil things;
7 No adoren a falsos dioses, como hicieron algunos de ellos, según leemos en la Escritura: El pueblo se sentó a comer y a beber, y luego se levantó para divertirse.	7 nor are you to worship false gods, as some of them did, as it says in scripture: The people sat down toeat and drink, and afterwards got up to amuse themselves.
8 No forniquemos, como algunos de ellos, y por eso, en castigo, murieron veintitrés mil en un solo día.	8 Nor, again, are we to fall into sexual immorality; some of them did this, and twenty-three thousand mettheir downfal in one day.
9 No provoquemos al Señor, como hicieron algunos de ellos, y perecieron víctimas de las serpientes.	9 And we are not to put the Lord to the test; some of them put him to the test, and they were killed bysnakes.
10 No nos rebelemos contra Dios, como algunos de ellos, por lo cual murieron víctimas del Angel exterminador.	10 Never complain; some of them complained, and they were killed by the Destroyer.
11 Todo esto les sucedió simbólicamente, y está escrito para que nos sirva de lección a los que vivimos en el tiempo final.	11 Now all these things happened to them by way of example, and they were described in writing to bea lesson for us, to whom it has fallen to live in the last days of the ages.
12 Por eso, el que se cree muy seguro, ¡cuídese de no caer!	12 Everyone, no matter how firmly he thinks he is standing, must be careful he does not fall.
13 Hasta ahora, ustedes no tuvieron tentaciones que superen sus fuerzas humanas. Dios es fiel, y él no permitirá que sean tentados más allá de sus fuerzas. Al contrario, en el momento de la tentación, les dará el medio de librarse de ella, y los ayudará a soportarla.	13 None of the trials which have come upon you is more than a human being can stand. You can trustthat God wil not let you be put to the test beyond your strength, but with any trial will also provide a way out byenabling you to put up with it.
14 Por esto, queridos míos, eviten la idolatría.	14 For that reason, my dear friends, have nothing to do with the worship of false gods.
15 Les hablo como a gente sensata; juzguen ustedes mismos lo que voy a decirles.	15 I am talking to you as sensible people; weigh up for yourselves what I have to say.
16 La copa de bendición que bendecimos, ¿no es acaso comunión con la Sangre de Cristo? Y el pan que partimos, ¿no es comunión con el Cuerpo de Cristo?	16 The blessing-cup, which we bless, is it not a sharing in the blood of Christ; and the loaf of bread which we break, is it not a sharing in the body of Christ?
17 Ya que hay un solo pan, todos nosotros, aunque somos muchos, formamos un solo Cuerpo, porque participamos de ese único pan.	17 And as there is one loaf, so we, although there are many of us, are one single body, for we all sharein the one loaf.
18 Pensemos en Israel según la carne: aquellos que comen las víctimas, ¿no están acaso en comunión con el altar?	18 Now compare the natural people of Israel: is it not true that those who eat the sacrifices share thealtar?
19 ¿Quiero decir con esto que la carne sacrificada a los ídolos tiene algún valor, o que el ídolo es algo?	19 What does this mean? That the dedication of food to false gods amounts to anything? Or that falsegods themselves amount to anything?
20 No, afirmo sencillamente que los paganos ofrecen sus sacrificios a los demonios y no a Dios. Ahora bien, yo no quiero que ustedes entren en comunión con los demonios.	20 No, it does not; simply that when pagans sacrifice, what is sacrificed by them is sacrificed to demonswho are not God. I do not want you to share with demons.
21 Ustedes no pueden beber de la copa del Señor y de la copa de los demonios; tampoco pueden sentarse a la mesa del Señor y a la mesa de los demonios.	21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons as wel ; you cannot have a share at theLord's table and the demons' table as wel .
22 ¿O es que queremos provocar los celos del Señor? ¿Pretendemos ser más fuertes que él?	22 Do we real y want to arouse the Lord's jealousy; are we stronger than he is?
23 «Todo está permitido», pero no todo es conveniente. «Todo está permitido», pero no todo es edificante.	23 'Everything is permissible'; maybe so, but not everything does good. True, everything is permissible,but not everything builds people up.
24 Que nadie busque su propio interés, sino el de los demás.	24 Nobody should be looking for selfish advantage, but everybody for someone else's.
25 Coman de todo lo que se vende en el mercado, sin hacer averiguaciones por escrúpulos de conciencia.	25 Eat anything that is sold in butchers' shops; there is no need to ask questions for conscience's sake,
26 Porque del Señor es la tierra y todo lo que hay en ella.	26 since To the Lord belong the earth and all it contains.
27 Si un pagano los invita a comer y ustedes aceptan, coman de todo aquello que les sirvan, sin preguntar nada por motivos de conciencia.	27 If an unbeliever invites you to a meal, go if you want to, and eat whatever is put before you; you neednot ask questions of conscience first.
28 Pero si alguien les dice: «Esto ha sido sacrificado a los ídolos», entonces no lo coman, en consideración del que los previno y por motivos de conciencia.	28 But if someone says to you, 'This food has been offered in sacrifice,' do not eat it, out ofconsideration for the person that told you, for conscience's sake-
29 Me refiero a la conciencia de ellos, no a la de ustedes: ¿acaso mi libertad va a ser juzgada por la conciencia de otro?	29 not your own conscience, I mean, but the other person's. Why should my freedom be governed bysomebody else's conscience?
30 Si yo participo de la comida habiendo dado gracias, ¿seré reprendido por aquello mismo de lo que he dado gracias?	30 Provided that I accept it with gratitude, why should I be blamed for eating food for which I givethanks?
31 En resumen, sea que ustedes coman, sea que beban, o cualquier cosa que hagan, háganlo todo para la gloria de Dios.	31 Whatever you eat, then, or drink, and whatever else you do, do it al for the glory of God.
32 No sean motivo de escándalo ni para los judíos ni para los paganos ni tampoco para la Iglesia de Dios.	32 Never be a cause of offence, either to Jews or to Greeks or to the Church of God,
33 Hagan como yo, que me esfuerzo por complacer a todos en todas las cosas, no buscando mi interés personal, sino el del mayor número, para que puedan salvarse.	33 just as I try to accommodate everybody in everything, not looking for my own advantage, but for theadvantage of everybody else, so that they may be saved.
