1 Corintios 1

EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Pablo, llamado a ser Apóstol de Jesucristo por la voluntad de Dios, y el hermano Sóstenes,	1 Paul, cal ed by the wil of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and Sosthenes, our brother,
2 saludan a la Iglesia de Dios que reside en Corinto, a los que han sido santificados en Cristo Jesús y llamados a ser santos, junto con todos aquellos que en cualquier parte invocan el nombre de Jesucristo, nuestro Señor, Señor de ellos y nuestro.	2 to the church of God in Corinth, to those who have been consecrated in Christ Jesus and cal ed to beGod's holy people, with al those everywhere who cal on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord as wel asours.
3 Llegue a ustedes la gracia y la paz que proceden de Dios, nuestro Padre, y del Señor Jesucristo.	3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
4 No dejo de dar gracias a Dios por ustedes, por la gracia que él les ha concedido en Cristo Jesús.	4 I am continual y thanking God about you, for the grace of God which you have been given in ChristJesus;
5 En efecto, ustedes han sido colmados en él con toda clase de riquezas, las de la palabra y las del conocimiento,	5 in him you have been richly endowed in every kind of utterance and knowledge;
6 en la medida que el testimonio de Cristo se arraigó en ustedes.	6 so firmly has witness to Christ taken root in you.
7 Por eso, mientras esperan la Revelación de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, no les falta ningún don de la gracia.	7 And so you are not lacking in any gift as you wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed;
8 El los mantendrá firmes hasta el fin, para que sean irreprochables en el día de la Venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.	8 he will continue to give you strength till the very end, so that you will be irreproachable on the Day ofour Lord Jesus Christ.
9 Porque Dios es fiel, y él los llamó a vivir en comunión con su Hijo Jesucristo, nuestro Señor.	9 You can rely on God, who has called you to be partners with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
10 Hermanos, en el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, yo los exhorto a que se pongan de acuerdo: que no haya divisiones entre ustedes y vivan en perfecta armonía, teniendo la misma manera de pensar y de sentir.	10 Brothers, I urge you, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, not to have factions among yourselves butal to be in agreement in what you profess; so that you are perfectly united in your beliefs and judgements.
11 Porque los de la familia de Cloe me han contado que hay discordias entre ustedes.	11 From what Chloe's people have been telling me about you, brothers, it is clear that there are seriousdifferences among you.
12 Me refiero a que cada uno afirma: «Yo soy de Pablo, yo de Apolo, yo de Cefas, yo de Cristo».	12 What I mean is this: every one of you is declaring, 'I belong to Paul,' or 'I belong to Apollos,' or 'Ibelong to Cephas,' or 'I belong to Christ.'
13 ¿Acaso Cristo está dividido? ¿O es que Pablo fue crucificado por ustedes? ¿O será que ustedes fueron bautizados en el nombre de Pablo?	13 Has Christ been split up? Was it Paul that was crucified for you, or was it in Paul's name that you werebaptised?
14 Felizmente yo no he bautizado a ninguno de ustedes, excepto a Crispo y a Gayo.	14 I am thankful I did not baptise any of you, except Crispus and Gaius,
15 Así nadie puede decir que ha sido bautizado en mi nombre.	15 so that no one can say that you were baptised in my name.
16 Sí, también he bautizado a la familia de Estéfanas, pero no recuerdo haber bautizado a nadie más.	16 Yes, I did baptise the family of Stephanas, too; but besides these I do not think I baptised anyone.
17 Porque Cristo no me envió a bautizar, sino a anunciar la Buena Noticia, y esto sin recurrir a la elocuencia humana, para que la cruz de Cristo no pierda su eficacia.	17 After al , Christ sent me not to baptise, but to preach the gospel; and not by means of wisdom oflanguage, wise words which would make the cross of Christ pointless.
18 El mensaje de la cruz es una locura para los que se pierden, pero para los que se salvan –para nosotros– es fuerza de Dios.	18 The message of the cross is fol y for those who are on the way to ruin, but for those of us who are onthe road to salvation it is the power of God.
19 Porque está escrito: "Destruiré la sabiduría de los sabios y rechazaré la ciencia de los inteligentes".	19 As scripture says: I am going to destroy the wisdom of the wise and bring to nothing theunderstanding of any who understand.
20 ¿Dónde está el sabio? ¿Dónde el hombre culto? ¿Dónde el razonador sutil de este mundo? ¿Acaso Dios no ha demostrado que la sabiduría del mundo es una necedad?	20 Where are the philosophers? Where are the experts? And where are the debaters of this age? Do younot see how God has shown up human wisdom as fol y?
21 En efecto, ya que el mundo, con su sabiduría, no reconoció a Dios en las obras que manifiestan su sabiduría, Dios quiso salvar a los que creen por la locura de la predicación.	21 Since in the wisdom of God the world was unable to recognise God through wisdom, it was God's ownpleasure to save believers through the fol y of the gospel.
22 Mientras los judíos piden milagros y los griegos van en busca de sabiduría,	22 While the Jews demand miracles and the Greeks look for wisdom,
23 nosotros, en cambio, predicamos a un Cristo crucificado, escándalo para los judíos y locura para los paganos,	23 we are preaching a crucified Christ: to the Jews an obstacle they cannot get over, to the gentilesfoolishness,
24 pero fuerza y sabiduría de Dios para los que han sido llamados, tanto judíos como griegos.	24 but to those who have been cal ed, whether they are Jews or Greeks, a Christ who is both the powerof God and the wisdom of God.
25 Porque la locura de Dios es más sabia que la sabiduría de los hombres, y la debilidad de Dios es más fuerte que la fortaleza de los hombres.	25 God's fol y is wiser than human wisdom, and God's weakness is stronger than human strength.
26 Hermanos, tengan en cuenta quiénes son los que han sido llamados: no hay entre ustedes muchos sabios, hablando humanamente, ni son muchos los poderosos ni los nobles.	26 Consider, brothers, how you were cal ed; not many of you are wise by human standards, not manyinfluential, not many from noble families.
27 Al contrario, Dios eligió lo que el mundo tiene por necio, para confundir a los sabios; lo que el mundo tiene por débil, para confundir a los fuertes;	27 No, God chose those who by human standards are fools to shame the wise; he chose those who byhuman standards are weak to shame the strong,
28 lo que es vil y despreciable y lo que no vale nada, para aniquilar a lo que vale.	28 those who by human standards are common and contemptible -- indeed those who count for nothing-- to reduce to nothing al those that do count for something,
29 Así, nadie podrá gloriarse delante de Dios.	29 so that no human being might feel boastful before God.
30 Por él, ustedes están unidos a Cristo Jesús, que por disposición de Dios, se convirtió para nosotros en sabiduría y justicia, en santificación y redención,	30 It is by him that you exist in Christ Jesus, who for us was made wisdom from God, and saving justiceand holiness and redemption.
31 a fin de que, como está escrito: "El que se gloría, que se gloríe en el Señor".	31 As scripture says: If anyone wants to boast, let him boast of the Lord.
