1 Jésus quitta cet endroit. Voici qu’il arrive aux frontières de la Judée par l’autre rive du Jourdain et de nouveau des foules se rassemblent autour de lui. Il recommence donc à les enseigner comme il avait coutume de faire.	1 And rising up from thence, he cometh into the coasts of Judea beyond the Jordan: and the multitudes flock to him again. And as he was accustomed, he taught them again.
2 À ce moment (se présentèrent des Pharisiens, et) ils lui posèrent cette question pour le mettre à l’épreuve: "Un mari est-il autorisé à renvoyer sa femme?”	2 And the Pharisees coming to him asked him: Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him.
3 Et lui leur demande: "Qu’est-ce que Moïse vous a commandé?”	3 But he answering, saith to them: What did Moses command you?
4 Ils répondent: "Moïse a permis d’écrire un acte de divorce et de renvoyer la femme.”	4 Who said: Moses permitted to write a bill of divorce, and to put her away.
5 Jésus leur dit: "Il a écrit là une loi adaptée à votre cœur endurci.	5 To whom Jesus answering, said: Because of the hardness of your heart he wrote you that precept.
6 Mais Dieu, au commencement du monde, les fit homme et femme.	6 But from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female.
7 Pour cette raison, l’homme quittera son père et sa mère	7 For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother; and shall cleave to his wife.
8 et les deux seront une seule chair. “Ils ne sont plus deux, mais une seule chair.	8 And they two shall be in one flesh. Therefore now they are not two, but one flesh.
9 Que l’homme ne sépare pas ce que Dieu a uni.”	9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
10 De retour à la maison, les disciples l’interrogent de nouveau à ce sujet	10 And in the house again his disciples asked him concerning the same thing.
11 et il leur déclare: "Celui qui renvoie sa femme et en épouse une autre, commet l’adultère à son égard;	11 And he saith to them: Whosoever shall put away his wife and marry another, committeth adultery against her.
12 et si une femme renvoie son mari et en épouse un autre, elle aussi commet l’adultère.”	12 And if the wife shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.
13 On lui amenait de petits enfants pour qu’il les touche; mais les disciples leur faisaient des observations.	13 And they brought to him young children, that he might touch them. And the disciples rebuked them that brought them.
14 Voyant cela Jésus se fâcha et leur dit: "Laissez les petits enfants venir à moi, ne les empêchez pas. Sachez que le Royaume de Dieu est pour ceux qui leur ressemblent.	14 Whom when Jesus saw, he was much displeased, and saith to them: Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not; for of such is the kingdom of God.
15 En vérité, je vous le dis: celui qui n’accueille pas le Royaume de Dieu comme un enfant n’y entrera pas.”	15 Amen I say to you, whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, shall not enter into it.
16 Puis il les embrassa et les bénit en leur imposant les mains.	16 And embracing them, and laying his hands upon them, he blessed them.
17 Comme Jésus se mettait en route, un homme courut au-devant de lui; il tomba à genoux devant lui et l’interrogea: "Bon maître, que dois-je faire pour hériter de la vie éternelle?”	17 And when he was gone forth into the way, a certain man running up and kneeling before him, asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may receive life everlasting?
18 Jésus lui répondit: "Pourquoi m’appelles-tu: ‘bon’? Dieu seul est bon, nul autre que lui.	18 And Jesus said to him, Why callest thou me good? None is good but one, that is God.
19 Tu connais les commandements: Ne tue pas, ne commets pas l’adultère, ne vole pas, ne porte pas de faux témoignage, ne prends rien à autrui, respecte ton père et ta mère…”	19 Thou knowest the commandments: Do not commit adultery, do not kill, do not steal, bear not false witness, do no fraud, honour thy father and mother.
20 L’autre déclara: "Maître, tout cela, je l’ai observé depuis ma jeunesse.”	20 But he answering, said to him: Master, all these things I have observed from my youth.
21 Alors Jésus le fixa du regard et l’aima; il lui dit: "Une seule chose te manque. Va, vends ce que tu as et donne-le aux pauvres, tu auras ainsi un trésor dans le ciel; puis reviens et suis-moi.”	21 And Jesus looking on him, loved him, and said to him: One thing is wanting unto thee: go, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.
22 L’homme fut très heurté par cette parole car il avait de grands biens; il s’éloigna fort triste.	22 Who being struck sad at that saying, went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
23 Alors Jésus jeta un regard sur ses disciples autour de lui; il déclara: "Comme il est difficile à ceux qui ont de l’argent d’entrer dans le Royaume de Dieu.”	23 And Jesus looking round about, saith to his disciples: How hardly shall they that have riches, enter into the kingdom of God!
24 En entendant ces paroles, les disciples furent déconcertés; mais de nouveau Jésus leur dit: "Mes enfants, comme il est difficile d’entrer dans le Royaume de Dieu.	24 And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus again answering, saith to them: Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches, to enter into the kingdom of God?
25 Il est plus facile pour un chameau de passer par le trou d’une aiguille, que pour un riche d’entrer dans le Royaume de Dieu.”	25 It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
26 Les disciples étaient complètement déroutés et se demandaient les uns aux autres: "Qui donc sera sauvé?”	26 Who wondered the more, saying among themselves: Who then can be saved?
27 Jésus les fixa du regard et leur dit: "Pour les hommes, c’est impossible, mais non pour Dieu. Car pour Dieu tout est possible.”	27 And Jesus looking on them, saith: With men it is impossible; but not with God: for all things are possible with God.
28 Pierre fit alors remarquer: "Nous, nous avons tout laissé pour te suivre.”	28 And Peter began to say unto him: Behold, we have left all things, and have followed thee.
29 Jésus répondit: "En vérité, je vous le dis: personne ne laissera maison, frères et sœurs, mère, père ou enfants, ou champs, à cause de moi et de l’Évangile,	29 Jesus answering, said: Amen I say to you, there is no man who hath left house or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or children, or lands, for my sake and for the gospel,
30 sans recevoir cent fois plus dès à présent en ce monde, en maisons, frères, sœurs, mères, enfants et champs, même avec les persécutions; et dans le monde à venir il aura la vie éternelle.	30 Who shall not receive an hundred times as much, now in this time; houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions: and in the world to come life everlasting.
31 Beaucoup qui sont parmi les premiers seront derniers, mais les derniers seront premiers.”	31 But many that are first, shall be last: and the last, first.
32 Ils étaient en route, montant à Jérusalem, et Jésus marchait devant eux. Ils étaient déconcertés, et ceux qui suivaient avaient peur. De nouveau Jésus prit avec lui les Douze pour leur dire ce qui allait lui arriver:	32 And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem: and Jesus went before them, and they were astonished; and following were afraid. And taking again the twelve, he began to tell them the things that should befall him.
33 -“Maintenant n ous montons à Jérusalem et le Fils de l’Homme va être livré aux chefs des prêtres et aux maîtres de la Loi qui le condamneront à mort et le remettront aux mains des étrangers;	33 Saying: Behold we go up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man shall be betrayed to the chief priests, and to the scribes and ancients, and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles.
34 ils vont l’humilier, cracher sur lui, le fouetter et le tuer, mais il ressuscitera le troisième jour.”	34 And they shall mock him, and spit on him, and scourge him, and kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.
35 C’est alors que Jacques et Jean, les fils de Zébédée, s’approchent de lui et lui disent: "Maître, nous voulons que tu fasses pour nous ce que nous allons te demander.”	35 And James and John the sons of Zebedee, come to him, saying: Master, we desire that whatsoever we shall ask, thou wouldst do it for us:
36 Jésus leur répond: "Que voulez-vous que je fasse pour vous?”	36 But he said to them: What would you that I should do for you?
37 Ils reprennent: "Accorde-nous d’être assis, l’un à ta droite et l’autre à ta gauche, pour partager ta gloire.”	37 And they said: Grant to us, that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory.
38 Jésus leur dit: "Vous ne savez pas ce que vous demandez. Pouvez-vous boire la coupe que je vais boire, ou être baptisés du baptême dont je vais être baptisé?”	38 And Jesus said to them: You know not what you ask. Can you drink of the chalice that I drink of: or be baptized with the baptism wherewith I am baptized?
39 Ils lui disent: "Nous le pouvons!” Jésus leur dit: "Vous boirez donc la coupe que je vais boire et vous serez baptisés du même baptême que moi.	39 But they said to him: We can. And Jesus saith to them: You shall indeed drink of the chalice that I drink of: and with the baptism wherewith I am baptized, you shall be baptized.
40 Mais les sièges à ma droite ou à ma gauche, ce n’est pas à moi de les donner; ils sont réservés à d’autres.”	40 But to sit on my right hand, or on my left, is not mine to give to you, but to them for whom it is prepared.
41 En entendant cela, les dix autres s’indignent contre Jacques et Jean.	41 And the ten hearing it, began to be much displeased at James and John.
42 Alors Jésus les appelle et leur dit: "Vous savez que chez les païens, ceux qui font figure de chefs se conduisent en dictateurs, et leurs grands personnages abusent de leur autorité.	42 But Jesus calling them, saith to them: You know that they who seem to rule over the Gentiles, lord it over them: and their princes have power over them.
43 Cela ne devra pas être chez vous. “Si l’un d’entre vous veut être grand, qu’il se fasse votre serviteur.	43 But it is not so among you: but whosoever will be greater, shall be your minister.
44 Et si l’un d’entre vous veut être le premier, qu’il soit l’esclave de tous.	44 And whosoever will be first among you, shall be the servant of all.
45 Car le Fils de l’Homme n’est pas venu pour être servi, mais pour servir et donner sa vie en rançon pour la multitude.	45 For the Son of man also is not come to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a redemption for many.
46 Ils arrivent à Jéricho. Puis, comme il sort de la ville avec ses disciples et bon nombre de gens, un mendiant est là assis au bord du chemin; c’est Bartimée, le fils de Timée, et il est aveugle.	46 And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho, with his disciples, and a very great multitude, Bartimeus the blind man, the son of Timeus, sat by the way side begging.
47 Quand il apprend que c’est Jésus de Nazareth, il se met à crier: "Jésus, fils de David, aie pitié de moi!”	47 Who when he had heard, that it was Jesus of Nazareth, began to cry out, and to say: Jesus son of David, have mercy on me.
48 Beaucoup le sermonnent pour le faire taire, mais il crie encore plus fort: "Fils de David, aie pitié de moi!”	48 And many rebuked him, that he might hold his peace; but he cried a great deal the more: Son of David, have mercy on me.
49 Jésus s’arrête et dit: "Appelez-le.” On appelle l’aveugle et on lui dit: "Courage, lève-toi, il t’appelle.”	49 And Jesus, standing still, commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying to him: Be of better comfort: arise, he calleth thee.
50 L’aveugle laisse son manteau, et d’un bond il est près de Jésus.	50 Who casting off his garment leaped up, and came to him.
51 Jésus lui dit: "Que veux-tu que je fasse pour toi?” L’aveugle répond: "Rabbouni, que je voie!”	51 And Jesus answering, said to him: What wilt thou that I should do to thee? And the blind man said to him: Rabboni, that I may see.
52 Alors Jésus lui dit: "Va! ta foi t’a sauvé!” À l’instant même cet homme voit; et il se met à suivre Jésus sur le chemin.	52 And Jesus saith to him: Go thy way, thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he saw, and followed him in the way.
