1 Voici la descendance d’Ésaü (ou Édom).	1 These are the descendants of Esau, that is, Edom.
2 Ésaü épousa des filles de Canaan: Ada, fille d’Élon le Hittite, Oholibama, fille d’Ana fils de Sibéon le Horite,	2 Esau chose his wives from the women of Canaan: Adah daughter of Elon the Hittite, Oholibamahdaughter of Anah, son of Zibeon the Horite,
3 Basmat, fille d’Ismaël et sœur de Nébayot.	3 Basemath daughter of Ishmael and sister of Nebaioth.
4 Ada donna un fils à Ésaü, Élifaz, et Basmat lui donna Réouel.	4 Adah bore Eliphaz to Esau, Basemath bore Reuel,
5 Oholibama donna le jour à Yéouch, Yalam et Korah. Ce sont les fils d’Ésaü qui naquirent au pays de Canaan.	5 Oholibamah bore Jeush, Jalam and Korah. These were the sons of Esau born to him in Canaan.
6 Ésaü prit ses femmes, ses fils, ses filles, tous les gens de sa maison, son troupeau, son bétail, tous les biens qu’il avait amassés au pays de Canaan, et il partit au pays de Séïr, loin de son frère Jacob.	6 Esau took his wives, his sons and daughters, al the members of his household, his livestock, al hiscattle and al the goods he had acquired in Canaan and left for Seir, away from his brother Jacob.
7 En effet, leurs biens étaient trop importants pour qu’ils puissent habiter ensemble: la terre qu’ils parcouraient ne suffisait pas pour leurs troupeaux.	7 For they had acquired too much to live together. The land in which they were at that time could notsupport them both because of their livestock.
8 Ésaü habita donc à la montagne de Séïr (Ésaü est aussi nommé Édom).	8 That is why Edom settled in the mountainous region of Seir. Esau is Edom.
9 Voici la descendance d’Ésaü, l’ancêtre des Édomites, dans la montagne de Séïr.	9 These are the descendants of Esau, ancestor of Edom, in the mountainous region of Seir.
10 Les fils d’Ésaü étaient: Élifaz, le fils d’Ada femme d’Ésaü, et Réouel, le fils de Basmat femme d’Ésaü.	10 These are the names of Esau's sons: Eliphaz son of Esau's wife Adah, and Reuel son of Esau's wifeBasemath.
11 Élifaz eut des fils: Téman, Omar, Séfo, Gatam et Kénaz.	11 The sons of Eliphaz were: Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam and Kenaz.
12 Élifaz fils d’Ésaü, eut pour concubine Timna, qui lui donna un fils, Amalec. Ceux-ci sont les fils d’Ada femme d’Ésaü.	12 Eliphaz son of Esau had Timna for concubine and she bore him Amalek. These were the sons ofEsau's wife Adah.
13 Voici les fils de Réouel: Nahat, Zérah, Chamma et Mizza. Ils sont les fils de Basmat femme d’Ésaü.	13 These were the sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah. These were the sons ofEsau's wife Basemath.
14 Voici les fils d’Oholibama, fille d’Ana, fils de Sibéon, la femme d’Ésaü: elle lui donna des fils Yéouch, Yalam et Korah.	14 And these were the sons of Esau's wife Oholibamah daughter of Anah, son of Zibeon: she bore himJeush, Jalam and Korah.
15 Voici les chefs des Édomites: fils d’Élifaz premier-né d’Ésaü: le chef Téman, le chef Omar, le chef Séfo, le chef Kénaz,	15 These are the chieftains of Esau. The descendants of Eliphaz, Esau's eldest son: the chieftains ofTeman, Omar, Zepho, Kenaz,
16 le chef Korah, le chef Gatam, le chef Amalec. Ce sont les chefs d’Élifaz au pays des Édomites: ils sont fils d’Ada.	16 Gatam and Amalek. These are the chieftains of Eliphaz in Edom and are descended from Adah.
17 Voici maintenant les fils de Réouel, fils d’Ésaü: Le chef Nahat, le chef Zéram, le chef Chamma, le chef Mizza. Ce sont les chefs de Réouel au pays des Édomites: ils sont fils de Basmat, femme d’Ésaü.	17 The descendants of Esau's son Reuel: the chieftains of Nahath, Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah.These are the chieftains of Reuel in Edom and are descended from Esau's wife Basemath.
18 Voici les fils d’Oholibama, la femme d’Ésaü: le chef Yéouch, le chef Yalam, le chef Korah. Ce sont les chefs d’Oholibama, fille d’Ana, femme d’Ésaü.	18 The descendants of Esau's wife Oholibamah: the chieftains of Jeush, Jalam and Korah. These arethe chieftains of Esau's wife Oholibamah daughter of Anah.
19 Voici donc les fils d’Ésaü, ainsi que les chefs du pays d’Édom.	19 These were the sons of Esau -- that is, Edom -- and these are their chieftains.
20 Voici les fils de Séïr le Horite qui séjournent dans le pays: Lotan, Chobal, Sibéon, Ana,	20 These are the sons of Seir the Horite, natives of the country: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,
21 Dichon, Éser, Dichan sont les chefs des Horites, les fils de Séïr, au pays d’Édom.	21 Dishon, Ezer and Dishan; these were the Horite chieftains descended from Seir, in Edom.
22 Hori et Hémam sont les fils de Lotan. Timna était la sœur de Lotan.	22 The sons of Lotan were Hori and Hemam, and Lotan's sister was Timna.
23 Voici maintenant les fils de Chobal: Alvan, Manahat, Ébal, Séfo, Onam.	23 These are the sons of Shobal: Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho and Onam.
24 Voici les fils de Sibéon: Ayya, Ana. C’est Ana qui trouva les eaux chaudes au désert en faisant paître les ânes de son père Sibéon.	24 These are the sons of Zibeon: Aiah, Anah -- the Anah who found the hot springs in the desert whilepasturing his father Zibeon's donkeys.
25 Voici les enfants d’Ana: Dichon, Oholibama fille d’Ana.	25 These are the children of Anah: Dishon, and Oholibamah daughter of Anah.
26 Voici les fils de Dichon: Hemdan, Echban, Yitran, Kéran.	26 These are the sons of Dishon: Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran and Cheran.
27 Voici les fils d’Éser: Bilhan, Zaavan, Aqan.	27 These are the sons of Ezer: Bilhan, Zaavan and Akan.
28 Voici les fils de Dichan: Ous et Aran.	28 These are the sons of Dishan: Uz and Aran.
29 Voici les chefs des Horites: le chef Lotan, le chef Chobal, le chef Sibéon, le chef Ana,	29 These are the Horite chieftains: the chieftains of Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,

31 Voici maintenant les rois qui régnèrent sur les Édomites, avant que ne règne un roi sur Israël.	31 These are the kings who reigned in Edom before an Israelite king.
32 En Édom régna Béla fils de Béor, sa ville était Dinhaba.	32 In Edom reigned Bela son of Beor; his city was cal ed Dinhabah.
33 Béla mourut et Yobab fils de Zérah de Bosra, régna à sa place.	33 Bela died and Jobab son of Zerah, from Bozrah, succeeded.
34 Yobab mourut et Oucham du pays des Témanites régna à sa place.	34 Jobab died and Husham from the land of the Temanites succeeded.
35 Oucham mourut et Hadad fils de Bédad régna à sa place. C’est lui qui battit les Madianites dans les champs de Moab, sa capitale était Avvit.	35 Husham died and Hadad son of Bedad succeeded; he defeated the Midianites in Moab, and his citywas called Avith.
36 Hadad mourut et Samla de Masréka régna à sa place.	36 Hadad died and Samlah of Masrekah succeeded.
37 Samla mourut et Chaoul de Réhobot-Ha-Nahar régna à sa place.	37 Samlah died and Shaul of Rehoboth-ha-Nahar succeeded.
38 Chaoul mourut et Baal-Hanan fils d’Akbor régna à sa place.	38 Shaul died and Baal-Hanan son of Achbor succeeded.
39 Baal-Hanan fils d’Akbor mourut et Hadad régna à sa place sa capitale était Paü et sa femme était Méhétabéel, fille de Matred de Mé-Zahab.	39 Baal-Hanan died and Hadad succeeded; his city was called Pau and his wife's name was Mehetabeldaughter of Matred, from Mezahab.
40 Voici les noms des autres chefs d’Ésaü selon leurs clans et leurs lieux, voici donc leurs noms: le chef Timna, le chef Alva, le chef Yetèt,	40 These are the names of the chieftains of Esau -- according to their clans and localities: the chieftainsof Timna, Alvah, Jetheth,
41 le chef Oholibama, le chef Éla, le chef Pinon,	41 Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon,
42 le chef Kénaz, le chef Téman, le chef Mibsar,	42 Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar,
43 le chef Magdiel, le chef Iram. Voilà les chefs d’Édom, selon leurs implantations dans le pays qu’ils possédaient. Ésaü est l’ancêtre des Édomites.	43 Magdiel and Iram. These are the chieftains of Edom, as settled in the territory which they own. Esauwas Edom's ancestor.
