| 1 E disse Iddio a Ieremia la seconda volta, conciosia cosa che ancora fosse rinchiuso nel cammino della carcere; e disse così: | 1 The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah a second time, while he was still shut up in the court of the guard: |
| 2 Questo dice Iddio, il quale deve fare e formare quello, e che apparecchierà: lo suo nome si dice Signore: | 2 "Thus says the LORD who made the earth, the LORD who formed it to establish it--the LORD is his name: |
| 3 Grida a me, e io esaudirò te; e annuncierotti grandi cose e ferme, le quali tu non sai. | 3 Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things which you have not known. |
| 4 Però [che] questo dice Iddio Signore d' Israel alle case di questa città, e alle case dello re di Giuda, le quali sono distrutte, e alle armadure e allo coltello | 4 For thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city and the houses of the kings of Judah which were torn down to make a defense against the siege mounds and before the sword: |
| 5 di quelli che vegnono per ischermire colli Caldei, ed empierle de' corpi morti di uomini i quali io ho percosso nel mio furore e nella mia indignazione io nasconderò la mia faccia da questa città per tutta la loro malizia. | 5 The Chaldeans are coming in to fight and to fill them with the dead bodies of men whom I shall smite in my anger and my wrath, for I have hidden my face from this city because of all their wickedness. |
| 6 Io metterò loro la margine e la sanità, e curerogli; e rivelerò loro priego di pace e di verità. | 6 Behold, I will bring to it health and healing, and I will heal them and reveal to them abundance of prosperity and security. |
| 7 E convertirò la conversione di Giuda, e la conversione di Ierusalem; ed edificherolli sì come da principio. | 7 I will restore the fortunes of Judah and the fortunes of Israel, and rebuild them as they were at first. |
| 8 E monderolli da ogni loro iniquitade, nella quale peccarono a me; e sarò umile in tutte le loro malvagitadi, nelle quali egli lasciorono me e disprezzorono me. | 8 I will cleanse them from all the guilt of their sin against me, and I will forgive all the guilt of their sin and rebellion against me. |
| 9 E sarammi a nome e allegrezza, e a laude e in esultamento a tutte le genti della terra, le quali udirono tutti li beni li quali io debbo fare loro; e ricorderannomi, e [si] turberanno in tutti li universi beni, e in ogni pace la quale io farò loro. | 9 And this city shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and a glory before all the nations of the earth who shall hear of all the good that I do for them; they shall fear and tremble because of all the good and all the prosperity I provide for it. |
| 10 Questo dice Iddio: ancora s' udirà in questo luogo; lo quale voi dite ch' è deserto, però che non sia nè uomo nè bestia nelle città di Giuda e di fuori di Ierusalem, le quali sono desolate sanza uomo e sanza abitazione e sanza pecora; | 10 "Thus says the LORD: In this place of which you say, 'It is a waste without man or beast,' in the cities of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem that are desolate, without man or inhabitant or beast, there shall be heard again |
| 11 boce d'allegrezza e boce di letizia, e boce di sposo e di sposa, e boce dicente: confessatevi allo Iddio delli esèrciti, però che bono è il Signore, e la sua (signoria) misericordia in eterno; boce di portanti l'offerte nella casa di Dio: io inducerò la conversione della terra come dal principio, dice Iddio. | 11 the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voices of those who sing, as they bring thank offerings to the house of the LORD: 'Give thanks to the LORD of hosts, for the LORD is good, for his steadfast love endures for ever!' For I will restore the fortunes of the land as at first, says the LORD. |
| 12 Questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti: ancora sarà in questo luogo deserto sanza uomo e sanza bestia, e in tutte sue cittadi, abitacolo di pastori e letti di greggie. | 12 "Thus says the LORD of hosts: In this place which is waste, without man or beast, and in all of its cities, there shall again be habitations of shepherds resting their flocks. |
| 13 E nelle cittadi de' monti, e in quelle dei campi, [e in quelle] le quali sono ad austro, nella terra di Beniamin, e nel circuito di Ierusalem, e nelle cittadi di Giuda, ancora passeranno le greggie alla mano dello annumerante, dice Iddio. | 13 In the cities of the hill country, in the cities of the Shephelah, and in the cities of the Negeb, in the land of Benjamin, the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, flocks shall again pass under the hands of the one who counts them, says the LORD. |
| 14 Ecco, verrà li giorni, dice lo Signore; io resusciterò la buona parola, la quale io ho parlato alla casa d'Israel e alla casa di Giuda. | 14 "Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will fulfil the promise I made to the house of Israel and the house of Judah. |
| 15 In quello tempo farò germinare da David uno rampollo di giustizia, e farà giudicio e giustizia in terra. | 15 In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch to spring forth for David; and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. |
| 16 In quel tempo si salverà Giuda, e Ierusalem abiterà confidentemente; e questo sarà lo nome, come lo chiameranno, cioè: lo nostro Signore (Iddio) giusto. | 16 In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will dwell securely. And this is the name by which it will be called: 'The LORD is our righteousness.' |
| 17 Però che questo dice Iddio: non morrà l'uomo della schiatta di David, il quale segga sopra lo trono della casa d' Israel. | 17 "For thus says the LORD: David shall never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel, |
| 18 E de' sacerdoti e de' leviti non morrà uomo della mia faccia, il quale offeri olocausto e incenda sacrificio e uccida lo animale per ogni dì. (Li Leviti sono clerici, ma non sono preti, sì come fue santo Lorenzo, il quale fue Levita). | 18 and the Levitical priests shall never lack a man in my presence to offer burnt offerings, to burn cereal offerings, and to make sacrifices for ever." |
| 19 E disse Iddio a Ieremia : | 19 The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah: |
| 20 Questo dice Iddio: se si puote trovare annullato lo mio patto col dì e con la notte, che non sieno nel tempo loro; | 20 "Thus says the LORD: If you can break my covenant with the day and my covenant with the night, so that day and night will not come at their appointed time, |
| 21 e lo mio patto potrà ritornare con David. mio servo, cioè che non sie [figliuolo] di lui, il quale regni nel suo trono, e li Leviti e li sacerdoti miei ministri. | 21 then also my covenant with David my servant may be broken, so that he shall not have a son to reign on his throne, and my covenant with the Levitical priests my ministers. |
| 22 Sì come non si possono annumerare le stelle del cielo, e mensurare l'arena del mare, così moltiplicherò lo seme di David mio servo, e li Leviti miei ministri. | 22 As the host of heaven cannot be numbered and the sands of the sea cannot be measured, so I will multiply the descendants of David my servant, and the Levitical priests who minister to me." |
| 23 E disse Iddio a Ieremia : | 23 The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah: |
| 24 Or non vedesti tu che questo populo parlò, dicendo due parentezze, le quali Iddio avea elette, sono gittate (e disprezzate); e hanno dispregiato lo populo mio, però che non è più generazione innanzi a loro? | 24 "Have you not observed what these people are saying, 'The LORD has rejected the two families which he chose? Thus they have despised my people so that they are no longer a nation in their sight. |
| 25 Questo dice Iddio: se lo patto tra lo dì e la notte, e se io non puosi legge allo cielo e alla terra; | 25 Thus says the LORD: If I have not established my covenant with day and night and the ordinances of heaven and earth, |
| 26 in verità lo seme di Iacob e di David mio servo gitterò, acciò ch' io non pigli del suo seme, e faccine principi del seme di Abraam, di Isaac e di Iacob; producerò la loro conversione, e averò misericordia di loro. | 26 then I will reject the descendants of Jacob and David my servant and will not choose one of his descendants to rule over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. For I will restore their fortunes, and will have mercy upon them." |
