| 1 - E all'angelo della chiesa, ch'è in Sardi, scrivi:Colui che ha i sette spiriti di Dio e le sette stelle, dice questo: Io so le tue opere [e] che hai nome di vivo e sei morto! | 1 "And to the angel of the church in Sardis write: 'The words of him who has the seven spirits of God and the seven stars. "'I know your works; you have the name of being alive, and you are dead. |
| 2 Sii vigilante, e rafforza quel resto che stava per morire; perchè non ho trovato compiute le tue opere al cospetto del mio Dio. | 2 Awake, and strengthen what remains and is on the point of death, for I have not found your works perfect in the sight of my God. |
| 3 Ricordati dunque che cosa hai ricevuto e udito, e osserva [tutto ciò] e ravvediti! Che se non vigilerai, verrò da te come un ladro, e non saprai a che ora verrò da te. | 3 Remember then what you received and heard; keep that, and repent. If you will not awake, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come upon you. |
| 4 Hai però alcune poche persone in Sardi, che non han contaminato le lor vesti, e cammineranno con me in vestimenta bianche, perchè ne son degni. | 4 Yet you have still a few names in Sardis, people who have not soiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white, for they are worthy. |
| 5 Chi vince, sarà così vestito di bianco, e non cancellerò il suo nome dal libro della vita, e confesserò il suo nome al cospetto del Padre mio, al cospetto de' suoi angeli . | 5 He who conquers shall be clad thus in white garments, and I will not blot his name out of the book of life; I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels. |
| 6 Chi ha orecchio, ascolti che cosa lo Spirito dice alle chiese. | 6 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.' |
| 7 E all'angelo della chiesa ch'è in Filadelfia, scrivi: Il santo e il verace, colui che ha la chiave di David, colui che apre e nessuno chiude, che chiude e nessuno apre, dice questo: | 7 "And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: 'The words of the holy one, the true one, who has the key of David, who opens and no one shall shut, who shuts and no one opens. |
| 8 Io so le tue opere. Ecco, t'ho messa davanti una porta aperta, che nessuno la può chiudere; perchè hai poca forza, e [tuttavia] hai serbato la mia parola e non hai negato il mio nome. | 8 "'I know your works. Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut; I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name. |
| 9 Ecco, farò che quei della sinagoga di Satana, quei che dicon di essere Giudei e non sono, ma mentono, ecco farò ch'essi vengano e si prostrino davanti ai tuoi piedi, e conoscano ch'io t'ho amato. | 9 Behold, I will make those of the synagogue of Satan who say that they are Jews and are not, but lie--behold, I will make them come and bow down before your feet, and learn that I have loved you. |
| 10 Poichè hai serbato la parola della mia pazienza, anch'io serberò te dall'ora della prova, ch'è per venire sulla terra tutta a provare gli abitanti della terra. | 10 Because you have kept my word of patient endurance, I will keep you from the hour of trial which is coming on the whole world, to try those who dwell upon the earth. |
| 11 Ecco, io vengo presto: tieni forte quel che hai, che nessuno pigli la tua corona! | 11 I am coming soon; hold fast what you have, so that no one may seize your crown. |
| 12 Chi vince lo farò colonna nel tempio del mio Dio, e non ne uscirà più fuori. E scriverò su lui il nome del mio Dio, e il nome della città del mio Dio, della nuova Gerusalemme che scende giù dal cielo da presso il mio Dio, e il mio nome nuovo . | 12 He who conquers, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God; never shall he go out of it, and I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem which comes down from my God out of heaven, and my own new name. |
| 13 Chi ha orecchio, ascolti che cosa lo Spirito dice alle chiese. | 13 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.' |
| 14 E all'angelo della chiesa ch'è in Laodicea, scrivi:L'Amen, il testimonio fedele e verace, il principio della creazione di Dio, dice questo: | 14 "And to the angel of the church in La-odicea write: 'The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God's creation. |
| 15 Io so le tue opere, che non sei nè freddo nè fervente. Oh, fossi tu freddo oppur fervente! | 15 "'I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were cold or hot! |
| 16 Ma poichè sei tiepido e non fervente nè freddo, sto per vomitarti dalla mia bocca. | 16 So, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of my mouth. |
| 17 Perchè dici: - Son ricco e mi sono arricchito e non ho bisogno di nulla, - e non sai che tu sei meschino e miserabile e pitocco e cieco nudo; | 17 For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing; not knowing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked. |
| 18 ti consiglio a comprar da me oro purgato col fuoco perchè tu arricchisca, e vesti bianche perchè tu le indossi e non appaia la vergogna della tua nudità, e collirio da ungere i tuoi occhi perchè tu ci veda. | 18 Therefore I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, that you may be rich, and white garments to clothe you and to keep the shame of your nakedness from being seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, that you may see. |
| 19 Io quanti amo, li riprendo e castigo: abbi dunque zelo, e ravvediti. | 19 Those whom I love, I reprove and chasten; so be zealous and repent. |
| 20 Ecco, io sto all'uscio e picchio: se uno ascolta la mia voce e apre l'uscio, entrerò da lui e desinerò con lui e lui con me. | 20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any one hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. |
| 21 Chi vince, gli darò di seder meco sul mio trono, come anch'io ho vinto e mi sono assiso col Padre mio sul suo trono. | 21 He who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I myself conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne. |
| 22 Chi ha orecchio ascolti che cosa lo Spirito dice alle chiese». | 22 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.'" |
