2 Kings 20

1 About then Hezekiah fel il and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz came andsaid to him, 'Yahweh says this, "Put your affairs in order, for you are going to die, you wil not live." '	1 In quei giorni, Ezechia si ammalò mortalmente e il profeta Isaia figlio di Amoz, si recò da lui e gli parlò: «Così dice Jahvè: “a disposizioni per la tua casa, perché tu stai per morire e non vivrai”».
2 Hezekiah turned his face to the wal and addressed this prayer to Yahweh,	2 Allora Ezechia, rivolta la faccia alla parete, supplicò Jahvè:
3 'Ah, Yahweh, remember, I beg you, that I have behaved faithful y and with sincerity of heart in yourpresence and done what you regard as right.' And Hezekiah shed many tears.	3 «Ricorda, o Jahvè, che io ho camminato alla tua presenza fedelmente e con cuore devoto e ho compiuto ciò che è bene ai tuoi occhi!» Poi Ezechia scoppiò in un gran pianto.
4 Isaiah had not left the middle court, before the word of Yahweh came to him,	4 Isaia non era ancora uscito dal cortile interno che gli fu rivolta la parola di Jahvè:
5 'Go back and say to Hezekiah, prince of my people, "Yahweh, the God of your ancestor David, saysthis: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears. I shal cure you: in three days' time you will go up to theTemple of Yahweh.	5 «Torna indietro e riferisci a Ezechia, principe del mio popolo: “Così dice Jahvè, Dio di David tuo padre: Ho ascoltato la tua preghiera, ho visto le tue lacrime; ecco, ti guarisco e fra tre giorni salirai al tempio di Jahvè.
6 I shal add fifteen years to your life. I shal save you and this city from the king of Assyria's clutches anddefend this city for my sake and my servant David's sake." '	6 Aumenterò la tua vita di quindici anni e libererò te e questa città dal potere del re di Assiria, facendo scudo a questa città per mio amore e per amore di David mio servitore”».
7 'Bring a fig poultice,' Isaiah said; they brought one, applied it to the ulcer, and the king recovered.	7 Poi Isaia ordinò: «Prendete una schiacciata di fichi, ponetela sull’ulcera ed egli vivrà».
8 Hezekiah said to Isaiah, 'What is the sign to tel me that Yahweh wil cure me and that I shal be goingup to the Temple of Yahweh in three days' time?'	8 Ezechia chiese a Isaia: «Qual è il segno che Jahvè mi guarirà e fra tre giorni salirò al tempio di Jahvè?»
9 'Here', Isaiah replied, 'is the sign from Yahweh that he wil do what he has said; would you like theshadow to go forward ten steps, or to go back ten steps?'	9 Isaia rispose: «Questo è per te il segno che da parte sua Jahvè manterrà la promessa che ti ha fatto: vuoi che l’ombra vada avanti di dieci gradi oppure torni indietro di dieci?»
10 'It is easy for the shadow to lengthen ten steps,' Hezekiah replied. 'No, I would rather the shadowwent back ten steps.'	10 Ezechia osservò: «È facile per l’ombra estendersi di dieci gradi: questo dunque no; desidero però che l’ombra retroceda di dieci gradi».
11 The prophet Isaiah then cal ed on Yahweh, who made the shadow cast by the declining sun on thesteps -- the steps to Ahaz's roof-room -- go back ten steps.	11 Allora il profeta Isaia invocò Jahvè, il quale fece tornare indietro l’ombra di dieci gradi sui gradi che aveva percorso discendendo sulla meridiana di Akhaz.
12 At that time the king of Babylon, Merodach-Baladan son of Baladan, sent letters and a gift toHezekiah, for he had heard of his il ness and his recovery.	12 In quel tempo il re di Babilonia Merodach-Baladan, figlio di Baladan, inviò messaggeri a Ezechia con una lettera e un dono, poiché aveva sentito che Ezechia si era ammalato.
13 Hezekiah was delighted at this and showed the ambassadors his entire treasury, the silver, gold,spices, precious oil, his armoury too, and everything to be seen in his storehouses. There was nothing in hispalace or in his whole domain that Hezekiah did not show them.	13 Ezechia ne fu lieto e mostrò loro tutti i suoi depositi, l’argento, l’oro, gli aromi, l’olio fino, la sua armeria e quanto si trovava nei suoi tesori. Non ci fu cosa che Ezechia non mostrasse loro nella sua casa e nel suo dominio.
14 The prophet Isaiah then came to King Hezekiah and asked him, 'What have these men said, andwhere have they come from?' Hezekiah answered, 'They have come from a distant country, from Babylon.'	14 Allora il profeta Isaia andò dal re Ezechia e gli chiese: «Che hanno detto quegli uomini e donde sono venuti a te?» Ezechia rispose: «Sono venuti da una terra lontana, da Babilonia».
15 Isaiah said, 'What have they seen in your palace?' 'They have seen everything in my palace,'Hezekiah answered. 'There is nothing in my storehouses that I have not shown them.'	15 L’altro continuò: «Che cosa hanno visto nella tua casa?» Ezechia rispose: «Essi hanno visto tutto ciò che c’è nella mia casa; non ci fu cosa nei miei tesori che io non abbia mostrato loro».
16 Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, 'Listen to the word of Yahweh,	16 Allora Isaia disse a Ezechia: «Ascolta la parola di Jahvè:
17 "The days are coming when everything in your palace, everything that your ancestors have amasseduntil now, wil be carried off to Babylon. Not a thing wil be left," Yahweh says.	17 “Ecco verranno giorni, in cui sarà trasportato a Babilonia quanto c’è nella tua casa e ciò che i tuoi padri fino a oggi hanno accumulato; non rimarrà più nulla”, dice Jahvè!
18 "Sons sprung from you, sons fathered by you, wil be abducted to be eunuchs in the palace of theking of Babylon." '	18 Di più, alcuni dei figli che discenderanno da te e che hai generato saranno catturati e diverranno eunuchi alla corte del re di Babilonia».
19 Hezekiah said to Isaiah, 'This word of Yahweh that you announce is reassuring,' for he was thinking,'And why not? So long as there is peace and security during my lifetime.'	19 Ezechia disse a Isaia: «Buona è la parola di Jahvè che tu hai proferito». Pensava infatti: «Perché no? Almeno durante la mia vita ci saranno pace e sicurezza!»
20 The rest of the history of Hezekiah, al his prowess, how he constructed the pool and the conduit tobring water into the city, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals of the Kings of Judah?	20 Il resto degli atti di Ezechia, tutto il su, valore e come egli ha costruito la piscina e l'acquedotto e ha fatto arrivare l’acqua in città forse non sono cose scritte nel libro degli Annali dei re di Giuda?
21 Then Hezekiah fel asleep with his ancestors; his son Manasseh succeeded him.	21 Ezechia si addormentò con i suoi padri e Manasse suo figlio regnò al suo posto.
