1 the LORD said to Moses and Eleazar; son of Aaron the priest,	1 Yahveh habló a Moisés y a Eleazar, hijo del sacerdote Aarón, y les dijo:
2 "Take a census, by ancestral houses, throughout the community of the Israelites of all those of twenty years or more who are fit for military service in Israel."	2 «Haced el recuento de toda la comunidad de los israelitas, por casas paternas, de veinte años en adelante, de todos los útiles para la guerra.»
3 So on the plains of Moab along the Jericho stretch of the Jordan, Moses and the priest Eleazar registered	3 Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar les pasaron revista en las Estepas de Moab, cerca del Jordán, a la altura de Jericó,
4 those of twenty years or more, as the LORD had commanded Moses. The Israelites who came out of the land of Egypt were as follows:	4 como había mandado Yahveh a Moisés y a los israelitas cuando salían de Egipto. De veinte años en adelante:
5 Of Reuben, the first-born of Israel, the Reubenites by clans were: through Hanoch the clan of the Hanochites, through Pallu the clan of the Palluites,	5 Rubén, primogénito de Israel. Hijos de Rubén: de Henoc, el clan henoquita; de Pallú, el clan paluita;
6 through Hezron the clan of the Hezronites, through Carmi the clan of the Carmites.	6 de Jesrón, el clan jesronita; de Karmí, el clan karmita.
7 These were the clans of the Reubenites, of whom forty-three thousand seven hundred and thirty men were registered.	7 Esos eran los clanes rubenitas. Hecho el censo, resultaron ser 43.730.
8 From Pallu descended Eliab,	8 Hijos de Pallú: Eliab.
9 and the descendants of Eliab were Dathan and Abiram-the same Dathan and Abiram, councilors of the community, who revolted against Moses and Aaron (like Korah's band when it rebelled against the LORD).	9 Hijos de Eliab: Nemuel, Datán y Abirón. Estos Datán y Abirón eran famosos en la comunidad y se rebelaron contra Moisés y Aarón con la cuadrilla de Coré, cuando ésta se rebeló contra Yahveh.
10 The earth opened its mouth and swallowed them as a warning (Korah too and the band that died when the fire consumed two hundred and fifty men.	10 La tierra abrió su boca y los tragó a ellos y a Coré, cuando el fuego devoró a 250 hombres, para que sirvieran de escarmiento.
11 The descendents of Korah, however, did not die out).	11 Pero los hijos de Coré no murieron.
12 The Simeonites by clans were: through Nemuel the clan of the Nemuelites, through Jamin the clan of the Jaminites, through Jachin the clan of the Jachinites,	12 Hijos de Simeón, por clanes: De Nemuel, el clan nemuelita; de Yamín, el clan yaminita; de Yakín, el clan yakinita;
13 through Sohar the clan of the Soharites, through Shaul the clan of the Shaulites.	13 de Zéraj, el clan zerajita; de Saúl, el clan saulita.
14 These were the clans of the Simeonites, of whom twenty-two thousand two hundred men were registered.	14 Esos eran los clanes simeonitas. Fueron contados: 22.200.
15 The Gadites by clans were: through Zephon the clan of the Zephonites, through Haggi the clan of the Haggites, through Shuni the clan of the Shunites,	15 Hijos de Gad, por clanes: De Sefón, el clan sefonita; de Jagguí, el clan jagguita; de Suní, el clan sunita;
16 through Ozni the clan of the Oznites, through Eri the clan of the Erites,	16 de Ozní, el clan oznita; de Erí, el clan erita;
17 through Arod the clan of the Arodites, through Areli the clan of the Arelites.	17 de Arod, el clan arodita; de Arelí, el clan arelita.
18 These were the clans of the Gadites, of whom forty thousand five hundred men were registered.	18 Esos eran los clanes de los hijos de Gad. Según el censo fueron contados: 40.500.
19 The sons of Judah who died in the land of Canaan were Er and Onan.	19 Hijos de Judá: Er y Onán. Er y Onán murieron en la tierra de Canaán.
20 The Judahites by clans were: through Shelah the clan of the Shelahites, through Perez the clan of the Perezites, through Zerah the clan of the Zerahites.	20 Los hijos de Judá, por clanes, eran: de Selá, el clan selanita; de Peres, el clan peresita; de Zéraj, el clan zerajita.
21 The Perezites were: through Hezron the clan of the Hezronites, through Hamul the clan of the Hamulites.	21 Hijos de Peres fueron: de Jesrón, el clan jesronita; de Jamul, el clan jamulita.
22 These were the clans of Judah, of whom seventy-six thousand five hundred men were registered.	22 Esos eran los clanes de Judá. Según el censo fueron contados: 76.500.
23 The Issacharites by clans were: through Tola the clan of the Tolaites, through Puvah the clan of the Puvahites,	23 Hijos de Isacar, por clanes: de Tolá, el clan tolaíta; de Puvá el clan puvita
24 through Jashub the clan of the Jashubites, through Shimron the clan of the Shimronites.	24 de Yasub, el clan yasubita; de Simrón, el clan simronita.
25 These were the clans of Issachar, of whom sixty-four thousand three hundred men were registered.	25 Esos eran los clanes de Isacar. Según el censo fueron contados 64.300.
26 The Zebulunites by clans were: through Sered the clan of the Seredites, through Elon the clan of the Elonites, through Jahleel the clan of the Jahleelites.	26 Hijos de Zabulón, por clanes: de Séred, el clan sardita; de Elón, el clan elonita; de Yajleel, el clan yajleelita.
27 These were the clans of the Zebulunites, of whom sixty thousand five hundred men were registered.	27 Esos eran los clanes de Zabulón. Según el censo: 60.500.
28 The sons of Joseph were Manasseh and Ephraim.	28 Hijos de José, por clanes: Manasés y Efraím.
29 The Manassehites by clans were: through Machir the clan of the Machirites, through Gilead, a descendant of Machir, the clan of the Gileadites.	29 Hijos de Manasés: de Makir, el clan makirita. Makir engendró a Galaad. De Galaad, el clan galaadita.
30 The Gileadites were: through Abiezer the clan of the Abiezrites, through Helek the clan of the Helekites,	30 Los hijos de Galaad eran: de Yézer, el clan Yezerita; de Jéleq, el clan jelequita;
31 through Asriel the clan of the Asrielites, through Shechem the clan of the Shechemites,	31 Asriel, el clan asrielita; Sekem, el clan sekemita;
32 through Shemida the clan of the Shemidaites, through Hepher the clan of the Hepherites.	32 Semidá, el clan semidaita; Jéfer, el clan jeferita;
33 Zelophehad, son of Hepher, had no sons, but only daughters, whose names were Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah and Tirzah.	33 Selofjad, hijo de Jéfer, no tuvo hijos; solamente hijas. Se llamaban las hijas de Selofjad: Majlá, Noá, Jojlá, Milká y Tirsá.
34 These were the clans of Manasseh, of whom fifty-two thousand seven hundred men were registered.	34 Esos eran los clanes de Manasés, según el censo: 52.700.
35 The Ephraimites by clans were: through Shuthelah the clan of the Shuthelahites, through Becher the clan of the Bechrites, through Tahan the clan of the Tahanites.	35 Estos eran los hijos de Efraím, por clanes: de Sutélaj, el clan sutelajita; de Beker, el clan bekerita; de Taján, el clan tajanita.
36 The Shuthelahites were: through Eran the clan of the Eranites.	36 Estos son los hijos de Sutélaj: de Erán, el clan eranita.
37 These were the clans of the Ephraimites, of whom thirty-two thousand five hundred men were registered. These were the descendants of Joseph by clans.	37 Esos eran los clanes de los hijos de Efraím. Según el censo fueron contados: 32.500. Esos eran los hijos de José, por clanes.
38 The Benjaminites by clans were: through Bela the clan of the Belaites, through Ashbel the clan of the Ashbelites, through Ahiram the clan of the Ahiramites,	38 Hijos de Benjamín, por clanes: de Belá, el clan belaíta; de Asbel, el clan asbelita; de Ajiram, el clan ajiramita;
39 through Shupham the clan of the Shuphamites, through Hupham the clan of the Huphamites.	39 de Sefufam, el clan sefufamita; de Jufam, el clan jufamita.
40 The descendants of Bela were Arad and Naaman: through Arad the clan of the Aradites, through Naaman the clan of the Naamanites.	40 Fueron los hijos de Belá, Ard y Naamán: el clan ardita; de Naamán, el clan naamanita.
41 These were the Benjaminites by clans, of whom forty-five thousand six hundred men were registered.	41 Esos eran los hijos de Benjamín, por clanes. Según el censo fueron contados: 45.600.
42 The Danites by clans were: through Shuham the clan of the Shuhamites. These were the clans of Dan,	42 Estos eran los hijos de Dan, por clanes: de Sujam, el clan sujamita. Estos eran los clanes de Dan, por clanes:
43 of whom sixty-four thousand four hundred men were registered.	43 Todos los clanes sujamitas. Según el censo fueron contados: 64.400.
44 The Asherites by clans were: through Imnah the clan of the Imnites, through Ishvi the clan of the Ishvites, through Beriah the clan of the Beriites,	44 Hijos de Aser, por clanes: de Yimná, el clan yimnita; de Yisví, el clan yisvita; de Beriá, el clan berita.
45 through Heber the clan of the Heberites, through Malchiel the clan of the Malchielites.	45 De los hijos de Beriá: de Jéber, el clan jeberita; de Malkiel, el clan malkielita.
46 The name of Asher's daughter was Serah.	46 La hija de Aser, se llamaba Sáraj.
47 These were the clans of Asher, of whom fifty-three thousand four hundred men were registered.	47 Esos eran los clanes de los hijos de Aser. Según el censo fueron contados: 53.400.
48 The Naphtalites by clans were: through Jahzeel the clan of the Jahzeelites, through Guni the clan of the Gunites,	48 Hijos de Neftalí, por clanes: de Yajseel, el clan yajseelita; de Guní, el clan gunita;
49 through Jezer the clan of the Jezerites, through Shillem the clan of the Shillemites.	49 de Yéser, el clan yisrita; de Sillem, el clan silemita.
50 These were the clans of Naphtali, of whom forty-five thousand four hundred men were registered.	50 Esos eran los clanes de Neftalí, por clanes. Según el censo fueron contados: 45.400.
51 These six hundred and one thousand seven hundred and thirty were the Israelites who were registered.	51 Los revistados de los israelitas resultaron ser 601.730.
52 The LORD said to Moses,	52 Habló Yahveh a Moisés y le dijo:
53 "Among these groups the land shall be divided as their heritage in keeping with the number of individuals in each group.	53 «A éstos les has de repartir la tierra en herencia, conforme al número de alistados:
54 To a large group you shall assign a large heritage, to a small group a small heritage, each group receiving its heritage in proportion to the number of men registered in it.	54 al grande le aumentarás la herencia y al pequeño se la reducirás; a cada uno se le dará la herencia según el número de sus alistados.
55 But the land shall be divided by lot, as the heritage of the various ancestral tribes.	55 Pero el reparto se hará a suertes; según el número de alistados de cada tribu paterna se hará la distribución.
56 As the lot falls shall each group, large or small, be assigned its heritage."	56 A suertes distribuirás la herencia, distinguiendo entre el grande y el pequeño.
57 The Levites registered by clans were: through Gershon the clan of the Gershonites, through Kohath the clan of the Kohathites, through Merari the clan of the Merarites.	57 Estos fueron los alistados de Leví, por clanes. De Guerson, el clan guersonita; de Quehat, el clan quehatita; de Merarí, el clan merarita.
58 These also were clans of Levi: the clan of the Libnites, the clan of the Hebronites, the clan of the Mahlites, the clan of the Mushites, the clan of the Korahites. Among the descendants of Kohath was Amram,	58 Estos eran los clanes de Leví: el clan libnita, el clan hebronita, el clan majlita, el clan musita, el clan coreíta. Quehat engendró a Amram.
59 whose wife was named Jochebed. She also was of the tribe of Levi, born to the tribe in Egypt. To Amram she bore Aaron and Moses and their sister Miriam.	59 La mujer de Amram se llamaba Yokebed, hija de Leví, que le nació a Leví en Egipto. Amram tuvo de ella a Aarón, a Moisés y a María su hermana.
60 To Aaron were born Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.	60 Aarón engendró a Nadab y Abihú, a Eleazar e Itamar.
61 But Nadab and Abihu died when they offered profane fire before the LORD.	61 Nadab y Abihú murieron al ofrecer fuego profano delante de Yahveh.
62 The total number of male Levites one month or more of age, who were registered, was twenty-three thousand. They were not registered with the other Israelites, however, for no heritage was given them among the Israelites.	62 El total del censo de todos los varones de un mes en adelante fue 23.000. Porque no fueron alistados con los demás israelitas, pues no se les daba herencia entre los demás israelitas.
63 These, then, were the men registered by Moses and the priest Eleazar in the census of the Israelites taken on the plains of Moab along the Jericho stretch of the Jordan.	63 Estos fueron los revistados por Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar. Revistaron a los israelitas en las Estepas de Moab, cerca del Jordán a la altura de Jericó.
64 Among them there was not a man of those who had been registered by Moses and the priest Aaron in the census of the Israelites taken in the desert of Sinai.	64 Entre ellos no quedaba nadie de los que habían sido alistados por Moisés y por el sacerdote Aarón, cuando hicieron el censo de los israelitas en el desierto del Sinaí.
65 For the LORD had told them that they would surely die in the desert, and not one of them was left except Caleb, son of Jephunneh, and Joshua, son of Nun.	65 Es que Yahveh les había dicho que morirían en el desierto, sin que quedara uno de ellos, excepto Caleb, hijo de Yefunné, y Josué, hijo de Nun.
