Ephesians 2

1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;	1 Auch ihr waret tot in euren Fehlern und Sünden,
2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:	2 in denen ihr ehedem dahinlebtet nach Art dieser Weltzeit, nach Art des Herrschers im Machtbereich der Luft, des Geistes, der noch jetzt wirksam ist in den Söhnen des Ungehorsams.
3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.	3 Unter ihnen lebten einmal auch wir alle in den Begierden unseres Fleisches; wir taten, was die Gelüste des Fleisches und der Gedanken verlangten, und waren von Natur aus Kinder des Zornes wie die übrigen.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,	4 Gott aber, reich an Erbarmen, hat in seiner großen Liebe, mit der er uns liebte,
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)	5 auch uns, die wir tot waren in Sünden, zusammen mit Christus lebendig gemacht - durch Gnade seid ihr zum Heil gekommen -
6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:	6 und uns mit auferweckt und mit eingesetzt im Himmel in Christus Jesus,
7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.	7 um in den nachkommenden Zeiträumen den überströmenden Reichtum seiner Gnade in Güte zu uns kundwerden zu lassen in Christus Jesus.
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:	8 Ja, durch die Gnade seid ihr zum. Heil gekommen auf Grund des Glaubens, und das nicht aus euch selbst - es ist Gottes Geschenk-,
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.	9 nicht auf Grund von Werken, damit niemand sich rühme.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.	10 Denn sein Geschöpf sind wir, geschaffen in Christus Jesus zu guten Werken, wie sie Gott vorausbestimmt hat, daß wir in ihnen wandeln.
11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;	11 Darum denkt daran, daß ihr ehedem als die Heiden dem Fleische nach - die ihr "Unbeschnittene" genannt wurdet von denen, die sich wegen der mit der Hand gemachten Beschneidung "Beschnittene" nennen -,
12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:	12 daß ihr zu jener Zeit fern wart von Christus, ausgeschlossen von der Bürgerschaft Israels, Fremdlinge für die Bündnisse der Verheißung, ohne Hoffnung und ohne Gott in der Welt.
13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.	13 Jetzt aber wurdet ihr in Christus Jesus als die ehedem "Fernen" zu "Nahen" im Blute Christi.
14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;	14 Denn er ist unser Friede, der aus den beiden eins werden ließ und die trennende Scheidewand, die Feindschaft, beseitigte, da er in seinem Fleische
15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;	15 das Gesetz der Gebote mit seinen Bestimmungen aufhob und so in sich die zwei zu einem neuen Menschen werden ließ; er stiftete Frieden
16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:	16 und versöhnte die beiden in einem Leib mit Gott durch das Kreuz, da er die Feindschaft an ihm tötete.
17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.	17 Er kam und "verkündete Frieden", euch, "den Fernen, und Frieden den Nahen" (Is 57,19).
18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.	18 Denn durch ihn haben wir beide Zutritt in dem einen Geist zum Vater.
19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;	19 So seid ihr denn nicht mehr Fremdlinge und Beisassen, sondern Mitbürger der Heiligen und Hausgenossen Gottes,
20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;	20 aufgebaut auf dem Fundament der Apostel und Propheten, und der Eckstein davon ist Christus Jesus,
21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:	21 in dem zusammengefügt der ganze Bau emporwächst zu einem heiligen Tempel im Herrn,
22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.	22 in dem auch ihr mit aufgebaut werdet zu einer Wohnung Gottes im Geiste.
