Epistola di San Iacobo Apostolo 1

1 Iacobo (apostolo), servo di Dio e del nostro Signore Iesù Cristo, alli duodeci parentati che son in dispersione, salute.	1 James the servant of God, and of our Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.
2 Ogni allegrezza pensate, fratelli miei, quando caderete nelle varie tentazioni.	2 My brethren, count it all joy, when you shall fall into divers temptations;
3 sappiendo che il provamento della vostra fede adopera pazienza.	3 Knowing that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
4 Ma la pazienza abbia opera perfetta, acciò che voi siate perfetti e integri, in nulla cosa vegnenti meno.	4 And patience hath a perfect work; that you may be perfect and entire, failing in nothing.
5 Ma se alcuno di voi ha bisogno di sapienza, addimandila a Dio, il quale dà abbondevolmente a tutti, e nulla rimprovera; e sarà data a lui.	5 But if any of you want wisdom, let him ask of God, who giveth to all men abundantly, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6 Ma addimandila in fede, niente dubitando: però che quelli che dubita è simigliante all' onda del mare, la qual è mossa dal vento e menata intorno.	6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea, which is moved and carried about by the wind.
7 Adunque non si pensi quel uomo, che riceva cosa del Signore.	7 Therefore let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
8 Uomo di doppio animo, non è permanevole in tutte le sue vie.	8 A double minded man is inconstant in all his ways.
9 Ma rallegrisi il fratello umile nell' aggrandimento suo.	9 But let the brother of low condition glory in his exaltation:
10 Ma il ricco nel suo abbassamento (pianga); però che si come fiore di fieno trapassarà.	10 And the rich, in his being low; because as the flower of the grass shall he pass away.
11 Però che si levò il sole con ardore, e seccò il fieno, e il fiore di lui cadde, e la bellezza del suo volto perì; e così il ricco ne' viaggi suoi verrà meno.	11 For the sun rose with a burning heat, and parched the grass, and the flower thereof fell off, and the beauty of the shape thereof perished: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.
12 Beato l'uomo che soffrirà la tentazione; però che, quando egli sarà provato, riceverà corona di vita, la qual promesse Dio agli amatori di sè.	12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation; for when he hath been proved, he shall receive a crown of life, which God hath promised to them that love him.
13 Ma niuno uomo, quando egli è tentato, dica che sia tentato da Dio; però che Iddio non è tentatore di mali; però che non tenta alcuno.	13 Let no man, when he is tempted, say that he is tempted by God. For God is not a tempter of evils, and he tempteth no man.
14 Ciascheduno è tentato, dal suo desiderio tratto e sedotto.	14 But every man is tempted by his own concupiscence, being drawn away and allured.
15 Poscia che il desiderio è conceputo, partorisce peccato; ma il peccato, quando sarà fatto, genera morte.	15 Then when concupiscence hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin. But sin, when it is completed, begetteth death.
16 Dunque non vogliate errare, fratelli miei molto amati.	16 Do not err, therefore, my dearest brethren.
17 Ogni dato ottimo e ogni dono perfetto è di sopra; discende dal Padre de' lumi, appo quale non è tramutamento nè obumbramento di vicenda.	17 Every best gift, and every perfect gift, is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no change, nor shadow of alteration.
18 Però che desiderosamente ingenerò noi per la parola di verità, acciò che siamo alcuno cominciamento della sua creatura.	18 For of his own will hath he begotten us by the word of truth, that we might be some beginning of his creatures.
19 Sapete, fratelli miei molto amati; sia ognuno veloce a udire, e tardo a parlare, e tardo ad ira.	19 You know, my dearest brethren. And let every man be swift to hear, but slow to speak, and slow to anger.
20 Però che l'ira dell' uomo non adopera la giustizia di Dio.	20 For the anger of man worketh not the justice of God.
21 Per la qual cosa, gittando tutta l' immondizia e abbondanza di malizia, in soavità ricevete la parola seminata in voi, la qual puote salvare l'anime vostre.	21 Wherefore casting away all uncleanness, and abundance of naughtiness, with meekness receive the ingrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
22 Ma siate fattori della parola, e non tanto uditori, ingannando voi medesimi.	22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
23 Però che se alcuno è uditore della parola, e non facitore, questo sarà simigliato all' uomo che considera il volto della sua vanità nello specchio.	23 For if a man be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he shall be compared to a man beholding his own countenance in a glass.
24 Si considerò, e andò, e incontinente dimenticò chente egli era fatto.	24 For he beheld himself, and went his way, and presently forgot what manner of man he was.
25 Ma quello che guardarà nella legge della perfetta libertà, e permanerà in essa, non auditore. dimentico, ma fattore d' opra; questo sarà beato nel suo fatto.	25 But he that hath looked into the perfect law of liberty, and hath continued therein, not becoming a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work; this man shall be blessed in his deed.
26 Ma se alcuno si pensa esser religioso, non refrenando la lingua sua, ma seducendo il cuor suo, la sua religione è vana.	26 And if any man think himself to be religious, not bridling his tongue, but deceiving his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
27 Religione monda e senza macula appo Dio Padre questa è: visitare i pupilli e le vedove nelle loro tribulazioni, e guardarsi senza macula di questo secolo.	27 Religion clean and undefiled before God and the Father, is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their tribulation: and to keep one's self unspotted from this world.
