| 2 Erano insieme Simone Pietro, e Tomaso detto Didimo, e Natanael il quale era di Cana Galilea, e gli figliuoli di Zebedeo, e altri duoi discepoli. | 2 Simon Peter, Thomas called the Twin, Nathana-el of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together. |
| 3 Dice a loro Simone Pietro: io vo a pescare. E loro dissero: e noi anche veniamo teco. E andorono, e salirono in su la navicella; e per tutta quella notte nulla presero. | 3 Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing." They said to him, "We will go with you." They went out and got into the boat; but that night they caught nothing. |
| 4 E fatto che fu giorno, stette Iesù in sul lido (alla riva); ma gli discepoli non conobbero che fosse Iesù. | 4 Just as day was breaking, Jesus stood on the beach; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. |
| 5 Disse a loro Iesù: fanciulli, avete voi nulla che mangiare? E loro dissero di no. | 5 Jesus said to them, "Children, have you any fish?" They answered him, "No." |
| 6 Ed egli disse a loro: ponete la rete dalla parte dritta della navicella, e troveretene. E loro puosero; e non potevano tirare la rete, per tanti pesci ch' erano dentro in tanta moltitudine. | 6 He said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some." So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in, for the quantity of fish. |
| 7 Allora quello discepolo, il quale Iesù amava, disse a Pietro: egli è il Signore. E Simone Pietro, udendo ch' era il Signore, misesi la gonnella, imperò che era nudo, e gittossi in mare. | 7 That disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his clothes, for he was stripped for work, and sprang into the sea. |
| 8 Ma gli altri discepoli venendo in nave, e non erano però molto di lungi da terra, ma erano appresso quasi ducento cubiti, e traevano gli pesci della rete. | 8 But the other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were not far from the land, but about a hundred yards off. |
| 9 E descesero in terra; e vedevano le brase del fuoco, e uno pesce suso ch' era posto, e del pane. | 9 When they got out on land, they saw a charcoal fire there, with fish lying on it, and bread. |
| 10 Disse a loro Iesù: recate de' pesci che avete testè presi. | 10 Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish that you have just caught." |
| 11 Andò Simone Pietro, e tirò la rete in terra, piena di grandi pesci; e furono per numero centocinquantatre. E conciò sia cosa che fossero tanti, non si ruppe però la rete. | 11 So Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net ashore, full of large fish, a hundred and fifty-three of them; and although there were so many, the net was not torn. |
| 12 Disse a loro Iesù: uscite a desinare. E niuno di quelli che mangiavano ardiva di domandarlo chi egli era, imperò che sapevano ch' egli era il Signore. | 12 Jesus said to them, "Come and have breakfast." Now none of the disciples dared ask him, "Who are you?" They knew it was the Lord. |
| 13 E Iesù prese il pane, e diedene a loro, e de' pesci simigliantemente. | 13 Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and so with the fish. |
| 14 E questa fu la terza volta che Iesù si manifestò agli suoi discepoli, da poi che resuscitò da morte. | 14 This was now the third time that Jesus was revealed to the disciples after he was raised from the dead. |
| 15 Poscia adunque ch' ebbero desinato, disse Iesù a Simone Pietro: dimmi, Simone di Ioanne, mi ami tu più di questi? Ed egli li disse: in verità, Signore, tu il sai come io ti amo. Dissegli Iesù: nutrisci gli miei agnelli. | 15 When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I love you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs." |
| 16 Dissegli un' altra voita: Simone di Ioanne, ami tu me? Ed egli disse: in verità, Signore, tu il sai ch' io ti amo. Dissegli un' altra volta: nutrica gli miei agnelli. | 16 A second time he said to him, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I love you." He said to him, "Tend my sheep." |
| 17 Dissegli la terza fiata: Simone di loanne, mi ami tu? Contristossi Pietro, conciosia che aveagli egli detto la terza fiata: mi ami tu? e dissegli: Signore, tu (hai conosciuto e) conosci ogni cosa, tu sai ch' io ti amo. Dissegli: pasci le mie pecore. | 17 He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, "Do you love me?" And he said to him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Feed my sheep. |
| 18 In verità, in verità io ti dico, che quando eri giovine, tu ti cingevi e andavi dove volevi; ma quando sarai doventato vecchio, istenderai la mano tua, e uno altro ti cingerà, e conduceratti dove tu non vogli. | 18 Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were young, you girded yourself and walked where you would; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish to go." |
| 19 Ed egli questo disse, significando di quale morte doveva clarificare Iddio. Ed egli avendogli detto questo, dissegli: sèguitami. | 19 (This he said to show by what death he was to glorify God.) And after this he said to him, "Follow me." |
| 20 Voltato Pietro, vide il discepolo, seguente Iesù, ii quale egli amava, il quale etiam giacette (dormendo) sopra il petto suo nella cena, e disse: Signore, chi è quello che ti tradirà? | 20 Peter turned and saw following them the disciple whom Jesus loved, who had lain close to his breast at the supper and had said, "Lord, who is it that is going to betray you?" |
| 21 Avendolo dunque veduto, Pietro disse a Iesù: Signore, ma costui che farà egli? | 21 When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, "Lord, what about this man?" |
| 22 Dissegli Iesù: io voglio ch' egli permanga così, mentre ch' io venga; che t'appartiene a te? tu sèguita me. | 22 Jesus said to him, "If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? Follow me!" |
| 23 Venne adunque questo parlare tra gli fratelli, come quello discepolo non morirebbe. E non disse Iesù, che non morirebbe, ma: voglio permanga così, mentre ch' io venga; che a te? | 23 The saying spread abroad among the brethren that this disciple was not to die; yet Jesus did not say to him that he was not to die, but, "If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you?" |
| 24 Questo è quello discepolo che rende testimonianza di queste cose, e scrissele; e noi sappiamo come egli è vero il suo testimonio. | 24 This is the disciple who is bearing witness to these things, and who has written these things; and we know that his testimony is true. |
| 25 Etiam sono molti altri segni che fece Iesù, li quali se li si scrivessero per ciascuna parte, dico che nè etiam questo mondo poteria capere quelli libri che si scriverebbeno. | 25 But there are also many other things which Jesus did; were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. |
