| 1 E io alzai li miei occhi, e vidi; ed ecco uno uomo che avea nelle sue mani uno funicello di mietitori. | 1 And I lifted my eyes and saw, and behold, a man with a measuring line in his hand! |
| 2 E io dissi tu dove vai? Ed egli mi disse: vo a mietere Ierusalem, e per vedere quanta sia la sua larghezza, e la sua lunghezza. | 2 Then I said, "Where are you going?" And he said to me, "To measure Jerusalem, to see what is its breadth and what is its length." |
| 3 Ed ecco, l'angelo che mi parlava, usciva fuori, e un altro angelo li veniva incontro. | 3 And behold, the angel who talked with me came forward, and another angel came forward to meet him, |
| 4 E disse a lui: corri, e parla a questo fanciullo, e digli: Ierusalem sarà abitata sanza muro, per la moltitudine delli uomini e delle bestie che sono nel mezzo di lei. | 4 and said to him, "Run, say to that young man, 'Jerusalem shall be inhabited as villages without walls, because of the multitude of men and cattle in it. |
| 5 E io sarò a lei, dice lo Signore, in muro di fuoco per lo circuito suo; e sarolli in gloria nel mezzo di lei. | 5 For I will be to her a wall of fire round about, says the LORD, and I will be the glory within her.'" |
| 6 O, o! o voi, fuggite della terra d'aquilone, dice lo Signore Iddio; però ch' io hoe voi dispersi per li quattro venti, dice il Signore. | 6 Ho! ho! Flee from the land of the north, says the LORD; for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heavens, says the LORD. |
| 7 O Sion, la quale abiti a lato alla figliuola di Babilonia, | 7 Ho! Escape to Zion, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon. |
| 8 questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti: dopo la gloria mi mandò alle genti, le quali spogliarono voi; e chiunque averà toccato voi, averà toccato la pupilla del mio occhio. | 8 For thus said the LORD of hosts, after his glory sent me to the nations who plundered you, for he who touches you touches the apple of his eye: |
| 9 Pero che ecco, levo la mia mano sopra loro, e saranno preda a coloro i quali servivano a lui; e conoscerete che lo Signore delli esèrciti si ha mandato me. | 9 "Behold, I will shake my hand over them, and they shall become plunder for those who served them. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent me. |
| 10 Rallègrati e sta lieta, figliuola di Sion; però che ecco, io vengo, e abiterò nel mezzo di te, dice lo Signore. | 10 Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion; for lo, I come and I will dwell in the midst of you, says the LORD. |
| 11 E accosterannosi molte genti al Signore in quello dì, e saranno a me in popolo, e abiterò nel mezzo di te; e saprai che lo Signore delli esèrciti ha mandato me a te. | 11 And many nations shall join themselves to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people; and I will dwell in the midst of you, and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you. |
| 12 E lo Signore possederà la Giudea colla parte sua nella terra santificata; e ancora si eleggerà Ierusalem. | 12 And the LORD will inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land, and will again choose Jerusalem." |
| 13 E ogni generazione taccia (e stia cheta) inanzi al Signore: però che s'è levato del santo abitacolo suo. | 13 Be silent, all flesh, before the LORD; for he has roused himself from his holy dwelling. |
