| 1 Nello ottavo mese, e nel secondo anno di Dario re, sì fue fatta la parola di Dio a Zaccaria (profeta) figliuolo di Barachia, lo quale fu figliuolo di (uno uomo il quale ebbe nome) Addo, profeta; e dissegli : | 1 In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came to Zechariah the son of Berechiah, son of Iddo, the prophet, saying, |
| 2 Lo Signore Iddio sì è adirato sopra li vostri padri con grande isdegnamento. | 2 "The LORD was very angry with your fathers. |
| 3 E dirai a loro: questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti: convertitevi a me, dice il Signore delli esèrciti; e io mi convertirò a voi, dice lo Signore delli esèrciti. | 3 Therefore say to them, Thus says the LORD of hosts: Return to me, says the LORD of hosts, and I will return to you, says the LORD of hosts. |
| 4 E non siate come li vostri padri, a' quali gridavano i primi profeti, e dicevano: questo dice lo Signore Iddio delli esèrciti: convertitevi dalle vostre vie ree, e dalle vostre pessime cogitazioni; e non udirono me, e non attesero a me, dice il Signore. | 4 Be not like your fathers, to whom the former prophets cried out, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts, Return from your evil ways and from your evil deeds.' But they did not hear or heed me, says the LORD. |
| 5 (Or ditemi): dove sono li vostri padri? li vostri profeti, credete voi che loro vivano in sempiterno? | 5 Your fathers, where are they? And the prophets, do they live for ever? |
| 6 Or non sono le mie parole? e 'li miei legittimi comandamenti, i quali io comandai a voi, non compresono loro li vostri padri? convertironsi, e dissono veramente, come lo Signore pensò di fare a noi secondo le nostre vie, e secondo li nostri peccati, e così ci fece. | 6 But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not overtake your fathers? So they repented and said, As the LORD of hosts purposed to deal with us for our ways and deeds, so has he dealt with us." |
| 7 Nel ventiquattro di dello undecimo mese di sabat (cioè febbraio), nel secondo anno di Dario re, fu fatta la parola di Dio a Zaccaria, figliuolo di Barachia, figliuolo di Addo, profeta, e disse: | 7 On the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month which is the month of Shebat, in the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came to Zechariah the son of Berechiah, son of Iddo, the prophet; and Zechariah said, |
| 8 Io vidi di notte; ecco uno uomo, che saliva in su uno cavallo rosso, e stava tra li arbori che menano la mirra, i quali erano nel profondo; e dopo a lui erano cavalli rossi, di variato e di bianco colore. | 8 "I saw in the night, and behold, a man riding upon a red horse! He was standing among the myrtle trees in the glen; and behind him were red, sorrel, and white horses. |
| 9 E io dissi: Signore mio, or chi sono costoro? E l'angelo di Dio, il quale mi parlava, disse a me: or ti mostrerò quelli che sono costoro. | 9 Then I said, 'What are these, my lord?' The angel who talked with me said to me, 'I will show you what they are.' |
| 10 E l'uomo, il quale stava tra quelli arbori rispuose e disse: questi sono quelli i quali mandò il Signore, acciò che loro andassono attorno per la terra. | 10 So the man who was standing among the myrtle trees answered, 'These are they whom the LORD has sent to patrol the earth.' |
| 11 E quelli che istavano tra quelli arbori della mirra, rispuosono allo angelo di Dio, e dissono: noi siamo andati per la terra, e tutta la terra è abitata, e riposasi. | 11 And they answered the angel of the LORD who was standing among the myrtle trees, 'We have patrolled the earth, and behold, all the earth remains at rest.' |
| 12 E l'angelo di Dio rispuose e disse: o Signore delli esèrciti, insino a quando averai tu misericordia di Ierusalem, e delle terre di Giuda, contro alle quali tu sei adirato? questo è già lo LXX anno. | 12 Then the angel of the LORD said, 'O LORD of hosts, how long wilt thou have no mercy on Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these seventy years?' |
| 13 E rispuose il Signore all' angelo, lo quale parlava a me parole buone, e parole consolatorie. | 13 And the LORD answered gracious and comforting words to the angel who talked with me. |
| 14 E l'angelo che parlava in me, sì disse: grida, e di questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti: io hoe amato Ierusalem e Sion con grande amore. | 14 So the angel who talked with me said to me, 'Cry out, Thus says the LORD of hosts: I am exceedingly jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion. |
| 15 E io in' adiro con grande ira sopra le genti ricche; però ch' io mi sono adirato uno poco, ma loro hanno aiutato pure in male. | 15 And I am very angry with the nations that are at ease; for while I was angry but a little they furthered the disaster. |
| 16 E però questo dice il Signore Iddio: io ritornerò a Ierusalem colle misericordie; e la mia casa sarà edificata in essa, così disse lo Signore delli esèrciti, e sopra Ierusalem si distenderà la tenda. | 16 Therefore, thus says the LORD, I have returned to Jerusalem with compassion; my house shall be built in it, says the LORD of hosts, and the measuring line shall be stretched out over Jerusalem. |
| 17 E tu ancora grida, e di': questo dice il Signore delli esèrciti: ancora le mie cittadi abbonderanno di beni, e lo Signore si consolerà ancora di Sion, e ancora s' allegrerà Ierusalem. | 17 Cry again, Thus says the LORD of hosts: My cities shall again overflow with prosperity, and the LORD will again comfort Zion and again choose Jerusalem.'" |
| 18 E io alzai li miei occhi, e vidi; ed ecco IIII corna. | 18 And I lifted my eyes and saw, and behold, four horns! |
| 19 E io dissi all' angelo il quale parlava in me: che cose sono queste? Ed egli disse a me queste sono le corna, le quali ventilarono Giuda e Ierusalem e Israel. | 19 And I said to the angel who talked with me, "What are these?" And he answered me, "These are the horns which have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem." |
| 20 E lo Signore mi mostrò IIII fabbri. | 20 Then the LORD showed me four smiths. |
| 21 E dissi io: questi che vengono a fare? Il quale mi disse: queste sono le corna le quali ventilarono Giuda per ciascuno uomo, e niuno di loro levò lo suo capo; e questi vennero a spaventarli, acciò che loro caccino le corna delle genti, le quali levarono le corna sopra la terra di Giuda, acciò che loro la dispergessono. | 21 And I said, "What are these coming to do?" He answered, "These are the horns which scattered Judah, so that no man raised his head; and these have come to terrify them, to cast down the horns of the nations who lifted up their horns against the land of Judah to scatter it." |
