| 1 Parlò Iddio a Moisè, e dissegli: | 1 The LORD said to Moses, |
| 2 Comanda ai figliuoli d'Israel, che caccino delli loggiamenti ogni leproso; e chi cadesse in polluzione, e chi toccasse il morto, | 2 "Command the people of Israel that they put out of the camp every leper, and every one having a discharge, and every one that is unclean through contact with the dead; |
| 3 o uomo o femina che sia, cacciategli via, acciò che non s'appicchi agli altri. | 3 you shall put out both male and female, putting them outside the camp, that they may not defile their camp, in the midst of which I dwell." |
| 4 Fecero i figliuoli d'Israel, secondo che comandò Iddio, e cacciorongli via. | 4 And the people of Israel did so, and drove them outside the camp; as the LORD said to Moses, so the people of Israel did. |
| 5 Parlò Iddio a Moisè, e dissegli: | 5 And the LORD said to Moses, |
| 6 Parla ai figliuoli d'Israel, (e di' loro): l'uomo o la donna che cadrà in peccati, i quali soleno accadere alli uomini, e per negligenzia avrà preterito il comandamento di Dio, e avrà mancato (cioè in tuor quello d'altrui), | 6 "Say to the people of Israel, When a man or woman commits any of the sins that men commit by breaking faith with the LORD, and that person is guilty, |
| 7 confesseranno il peccato, e renderanno quello ch' hanno tolto, e la quinta parte più, a colui contro al qual lui peccò. | 7 he shall confess his sin which he has committed; and he shall make full restitution for his wrong, adding a fifth to it, and giving it to him to whom he did the wrong. |
| 8 E se non trovasse a cui rendere, sarà di Dio, e daralla al sacerdote; e non conterà lo montone, che offerse per la purgazione sia, acciò che sia sacrificio placabile. | 8 But if the man has no kinsman to whom restitution may be made for the wrong, the restitution for wrong shall go to the LORD for the priest, in addition to the ram of atonement with which atonement is made for him. |
| 9 E tutte le primizie, che offeriranno i figliuoli d'Israel, sono del sacerdote. | 9 And every offering, all the holy things of the people of Israel, which they bring to the priest, shall be his; |
| 10 E ciò che offerranno nel santuario nelle mani del sacerdote, sarà suo. | 10 and every man's holy things shall be his; whatever any man gives to the priest shall be his." |
| 11 Parlò Iddio a Moisè, e dissegli: | 11 And the LORD said to Moses, |
| 12 Parla ai figliuoli d'Israel, e di loro: la femina che non terrà fede al suo marito, | 12 "Say to the people of Israel, If any man's wife goes astray and acts unfaithfully against him, |
| 13 e farà adulterio con altro uomo, e lo marito non potrà provare per testimonii; ma lo adulterio è secreto, però ch' ella non è stata trovata operar male; | 13 if a man lies with her carnally, and it is hidden from the eyes of her husband, and she is undetected though she has defiled herself, and there is no witness against her, since she was not taken in the act; |
| 14 se la suspicion dello adulterio conciterà lo marito contra alla sua moglie, la quale ha commesso errore, e non saprà se non per suspecione; | 14 and if the spirit of jealousy comes upon him, and he is jealous of his wife who has defiled herself; or if the spirit of jealousy comes upon him, and he is jealous of his wife, though she has not defiled herself; |
| 15 meneralla al sacerdote, e offerrà per lei la decima parte della soma della farina d'orzo; e non vi metterà olio nè incenso; però ch' è sacrificio di suspicione, ed è oblazione per trovare l'adulterio. | 15 then the man shall bring his wife to the priest, and bring the offering required of her, a tenth of an ephah of barley meal; he shall pour no oil upon it and put no frankincense on it, for it is a cereal offering of jealousy, a cereal offering of remembrance, bringing iniquity to remembrance. |
| 16 Lo sacerdote la piglierà, e istaranno in presenza di Dio. | 16 "And the priest shall bring her near, and set her before the LORD; |
| 17 E piglierà acqua santa in uno orciuolo di terra; e metteravi uno poco di terra dello spazzo del tabernacolo. | 17 and the priest shall take holy water in an earthen vessel, and take some of the dust that is on the floor of the tabernacle and put it into the water. |
| 18 E quando la donna sarà istata col sacerdote uno poco nel cospetto di Dio, il sacerdote le scoprirà il capo (uno poco); e porralle in mano lo sacrificio (che si facea) per ricordare le cose, e lo sacrificio il quale è fatto per trovare, se vero è ch' ella sia istata in adulterio; ed egli terrà in mano) l'acqua amarissima; e quando avrà maledetta l'acqua, | 18 And the priest shall set the woman before the LORD, and unbind the hair of the woman's head, and place in her hands the cereal offering of remembrance, which is the cereal offering of jealousy. And in his hand the priest shall have the water of bitterness that brings the curse. |
| 19 (lo sacerdote) li protesterà, e dirà (alla donna): se teco non è dormito altro uomo, e se tu non hai errato abbandonando il letto del tuo marito, queste acque amarissime non ti noceranno, nelle quali ho indutto cotante maledizioni. | 19 Then the priest shall make her take an oath, saying, 'If no man has lain with you, and if you have not turned aside to uncleanness, while you were under your husband's authority, be free from this water of bitterness that brings the curse. |
| 20 Ma se tu hai dormito con altro uomo, o con lui hai avuto corruzione, abbandonato il tuo marito, | 20 But if you have gone astray, though you are under your husband's authority, and if you have defiled yourself, and some man other than your husband has lain with you, |
| 21 verramoti queste maledizioni, (le quali io ti manderò): Iddio ti pona in maledizione, acciò che tu sia esempio di tutti nel popolo suo; faccia Iddio infracidare le tue natiche; e il ventre tuo enfiando si dirompi. | 21 then' (let the priest make the woman take the oath of the curse, and say to the woman) 'the LORD make you an execration and an oath among your people, when the LORD makes your thigh fall away and your body swell; |
| 22 Ed entrino queste acque maledette nel tuo ventre; ed enfiato lo ventre tuo, infracidi le tue natiche. La donna risponda: AMEN, AMEN. | 22 may this water that brings the curse pass into your bowels and make your body swell and your thigh fall away.' And the woman shall say, 'Amen, Amen.' |
| 23 E lo sacerdote scriverà la maledizione, e con quelle acque laverà quella scrittura, e daralle a bere alla donna (la quale avrà detto le dette maledizioni), mettendola il sacerdote nell'acqua male detta in prima. | 23 "Then the priest shall write these curses in a book, and wash them off into the water of bitterness; |
| 24 E quando la donna avrà bevuto, | 24 and he shall make the woman drink the water of bitterness that brings the curse, and the water that brings the curse shall enter into her and cause bitter pain. |
| 25 tolga il sacerdote dalle mani della donna il sacrificio di questa gelosia; e leverallo dinanzi a Dio, e porrallo sopra l'altare, si che prima | 25 And the priest shall take the cereal offering of jealousy out of the woman's hand, and shall wave the cereal offering before the LORD and bring it to the altar; |
| 26 tolga uno pugillo del sacrificio che è offerto, e ardalo sopra l'altare; e allora beva la donna l'acque amarissime. | 26 and the priest shall take a handful of the cereal offering, as its memorial portion, and burn it upon the altar, and afterward shall make the woman drink the water. |
| 27 E quand'ella l'avrà bevute, se ella avrà fatto adulterio, l'acqua entra in lei; ed entieralle il ventre, e le natiche le si guasteranno; e sarà maledetta in esempio a tutto il popolo. | 27 And when he has made her drink the water, then, if she has defiled herself and has acted unfaithfully against her husband, the water that brings the curse shall enter into her and cause bitter pain, and her body shall swell, and her thigh shall fall away, and the woman shall become an execration among her people. |
| 28 E se non avrà fatto fornicazione, sarà libera, e farà figliuoli. | 28 But if the woman has not defiled herself and is clean, then she shall be free and shall conceive children. |
| 29 Questa si è la legge della gelosia. Se la donna lascerà il marito suo, e commetterà adulterio, | 29 "This is the law in cases of jealousy, when a wife, though under her husband's authority, goes astray and defiles herself, |
| 30 e lo marito sarà mosso da suspicione dello adulterio, menila nel cospetto di Dio; e lo sacerdote farà ciò che detto è. | 30 or when the spirit of jealousy comes upon a man and he is jealous of his wife; then he shall set the woman before the LORD, and the priest shall execute upon her all this law. |
| 31 Lo marito sarà senza colpa, e la donna avrà secondo ch' ella avrà fatto. | 31 The man shall be free from iniquity, but the woman shall bear her iniquity." |
