| 1 E fu fatto nel duodecimo anno, nel mese duodecimo, a dì primo del mese, che Iddio disse a me: | 1 In the twelfth year, in the twelfth month, on the first day of the month, the word of the LORD came to me: |
| 2 O figliuolo d' uomo, piglia lamento sopra Faraone, re d'Egitto, e dirai a lui: tu se' assomigliato allo leone delle genti, e allo drago lo quale è nel mare; e ventolavi col corno nei fiumi tuoi, e turbavi l'acque con i tuoi piedi, e conculcavi li loro fiumi. | 2 "Son of man, raise a lamentation over Pharaoh king of Egypt, and say to him: "You consider yourself a lion among the nations, but you are like a dragon in the seas; you burst forth in your rivers, trouble the waters with your feet, and foul their rivers. |
| 3 Però questo dice lo Signore Iddio: io spanderò sopra te la mia rete nella moltitudine de' miei popoli, e trarrotti fuori colla mia sagena. | 3 Thus says the Lord GOD: I will throw my net over you with a host of many peoples; and I will haul you up in my dragnet. |
| 4 E gitterotti in terra; io ti gitterò sopra la faccia del campo, e farò abitare sopra a te tutti li uccelli del cielo, e farò di te tutte le bestie della terra sazie. | 4 And I will cast you on the ground, on the open field I will fling you, and will cause all the birds of the air to settle on you, and I will gorge the beasts of the whole earth with you. |
| 5 E porrò le tue carni sopra li monti, ed empierò li colli della tua bruttura. | 5 I will strew your flesh upon the mountains, and fill the valleys with your carcass. |
| 6 E bagnerò (tutta) la terra del fetore del tuo sangue, e anche li monti e le valli si riempieranno di te. | 6 I will drench the land even to the mountains with your flowing blood; and the watercourses will be full of you. |
| 7 E coprirò lo cielo, quando sarai stato estinto, e farò diventare nere le stelle del cielo; e coprirò lo sole col nuvolo, e la luna non darà lo suo lume. | 7 When I blot you out, I will cover the heavens, and make their stars dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give its light. |
| 8 E farò dolere sopra di te tutti li luminari del cielo, e darò le tenebre sopra la tua terra, dice lo Signore Iddio, quando cadranno feriti ... dice lo Signor Iddio. | 8 All the bright lights of heaven will I make dark over you, and put darkness upon your land, says the Lord GOD. |
| 9 E commoverò a ira lo cuore di molti popoli, quando averò indotto la tua contrizione nelle genti sopra le terre le quali tu non sai. | 9 "I will trouble the hearts of many peoples, when I carry you captive among the nations, into the countries which you have not known. |
| 10 E faró maravigliare sopra te molti popoli; e li loro re con molto spaventamento temeranno sopra te (per tutte le tue iniquitadi le quali tu hai adoperate), quando lo mio coltello averà incominciato a volare sopra le loro faccie; ciascuni staranno ismemorati per l'anima sua nello di della tua ruina. | 10 I will make many peoples appalled at you, and their kings shall shudder because of you, when I brandish my sword before them; they shall tremble every moment, every one for his own life, on the day of your downfall. |
| 11 Però che questo dice lo Signore Iddio: lo coltello dello re di Babilonia verrà a te. | 11 For thus says the Lord GOD: The sword of the king of Babylon shall come upon you. |
| 12 E caccerò la tua moltitudine tra li coltelli de' forti; tutte queste genti sono inespugnabili, e guasteranno la superbia d' Egitto, e la sua moltitudine sarà dissipata. | 12 I will cause your multitude to fall by the swords of mighty ones, all of them most terrible among the nations. "They shall bring to nought the pride of Egypt, and all its multitude shall perish. |
| 13 E ucciderò tutti i suoi giumenti, li quali erano sopra molte acque; e lo piede dell' uomo non le turberà più, nè l' unghia delli giumenti. | 13 I will destroy all its beasts from beside many waters; and no foot of man shall trouble them any more, nor shall the hoofs of beasts trouble them. |
| 14 Allora io farò l' acque [loro] purissime, e li loro fiumi farò come l' olio, dice lo Signore Iddio, | 14 Then I will make their waters clear, and cause their rivers to run like oil, says the Lord GOD. |
| 15 quando io averò fatta la terra d' Egitto desolata; e la terra sarà abbandonata dalla sua plenitudine, quando io averò percossi tutti i suoi abitatori; e sapranno ch' io sono Iddio Signore. | 15 When I make the land of Egypt desolate and when the land is stripped of all that fills it, when I smite all who dwell in it, then they will know that I am the LORD. |
| 16 Pianto è, e piagneranno lui; e piagneranno le figliuole delle genti, e piagneranno sopra Egitto e sopra la sua moltitudine, dice lo Signore Iddio. | 16 This is a lamentation which shall be chanted; the daughters of the nations shall chant it; over Egypt, and over all her multitude, shall they chant it, says the Lord GOD." |
| 17 E disse Iddio a me nel duodecimo anno, nel XV dì del mese: | 17 In the twelfth year, in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the month, the word of the LORD came to me: |
| 18 O figliuolo d' uomo, canta lo verso istrazievole sopra la moltitudine d' Egitto, e biàsimala lei e le figliuole delle genti robuste, alla terra ultima, con quelli che iscendono nello lago (cioè nello inferno). | 18 "Son of man, wail over the multitude of Egypt, and send them down, her and the daughters of majestic nations, to the nether world, to those who have gone down to the Pit: |
| 19 Quanto più bello sei? discendi, e dormi colli incirconcisi. | 19 'Whom do you surpass in beauty? Go down, and be laid with the uncircumcised.' |
| 20 Nel mezzo delli morti cadranno di coltello; lo coltello è dato; e tirarono lei e tutti i suoi popoli. | 20 They shall fall amid those who are slain by the sword, and with her shall lie all her multitudes. |
| 21 Parleranno a lei li potentissimi tra li robusti del mezzo dello inferno, li quali discesono colli suoi aiutatori, e incirconcisi dormirono, morti di coltello. | 21 The mighty chiefs shall speak of them, with their helpers, out of the midst of Sheol: 'They have come down, they lie still, the uncircumcised, slain by the sword.' |
| 22 Assur è ivi, e tutta la sua moltitudine; nel circuito suo sono li sepolcri loro; tutti li morti, e quelli che caddono di coltello. | 22 "Assyria is there, and all her company, their graves round about her, all of them slain, fallen by the sword; |
| 23 Li sepolcri de' quali sono dati a' novissimi luoghi dello lago (cioè dello inferno); e la sua moltitudine fu fatta per lo circuito dello sepolcro suo; tutti li morti, cadenti di coltello, i quali aveano data la sua fortezza nella terra de' viventi. | 23 whose graves are set in the uttermost parts of the Pit, and her company is round about her grave; all of them slain, fallen by the sword, who spread terror in the land of the living. |
| 24 Quivi è Elam, e tutta la sua moltitudine per lo giro del suo sepolcro; tutti questi morti, e cadenti di coltello, i quali discesono incirconcisi alla terra ultima; i quali puosono il loro ispaventamento nella terra de' viventi, e portarono la loro vergogna con quelli che discesono nello lago (cioè nello inferno). | 24 "Elam is there, and all her multitude about her grave; all of them slain, fallen by the sword, who went down uncircumcised into the nether world, who spread terror in the land of the living, and they bear their shame with those who go down to the Pit. |
| 25 Puosono lo suo letto nel mezzo delli morti in tutti li [suoi] popoli; nel suo circuito fue lo suo sepolcro; tutti questi incirconcisi morti, e li cadenti di coltello; diedono spaventamento nella terra de'viventi, e portarono la loro vergogna con quelli che discesono nello lago; e sono posti nel mezzo de' morti. | 25 They have made her a bed among the slain with all her multitude, their graves round about her, all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword; for terror of them was spread in the land of the living, and they bear their shame with those who go down to the Pit; they are placed among the slain. |
| 26 Ivi è Mosoc (cioè una terra) e Tubal (cioè un' altra terra) e tutta la sua moltitudine; nel suo circuito puosono i loro sepolcri; tutti questi incirconcisi e morti e che cadeano di coltello, però che diedono la paura loro nella terra de' viventi; (cioè questo, che si dice ultima terra, si è la morte dello inferno; però che non si trova niuna terra poi; e questi che si dicono i morti e cadenti di coltello, per li morti s' intendono i morti della sua morte, e quelli che cadono di coltello s' intendono i morti di coltello). | 26 "Meshech and Tubal are there, and all their multitude, their graves round about them, all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword; for they spread terror in the land of the living. |
| 27 E non dormiranno colli (morti) forti e colli cadenti e colli incirconcisi, i quali discesono nello inferno colle loro armi, e puosono i loro coltelli sotto i loro capi, e le loro iniquitadi sì furono nelle loro ossa, però che furono fatti ispavento de' forti nella terra de' viventi. | 27 And they do not lie with the fallen mighty men of old who went down to Sheol with their weapons of war, whose swords were laid under their heads, and whose shields are upon their bones; for the terror of the mighty men was in the land of the living. |
| 28 Adunque e tu sarai ispezzato nel mezzo delli incirconcisi, e dormirai colli morti di coltello (che dormirono colli incirconcisi). | 28 So you shall be broken and lie among the uncircumcised, with those who are slain by the sword. |
| 29 Quivi è Idumea e li suoi re e tutti i suoi duchi, i quali sono posti collo suo esèrcito colli morti di coltello, e che dormirono colli incirconcisi e con quelli che discesono nello lago (cioè nello inferno). | 29 "Edom is there, her kings and all her princes, who for all their might are laid with those who are slain by the sword; they lie with the uncircumcised, with those who go down to the Pit. |
| 30 Quivi tutti li principi d' aquilone, e tutti li universi cacciatori, i quali furono (tutti) menati colli morti, tementi e confusi nella sua fortezza; i quali dormirono (colli) incirconcisi (e) colli morti di coltello, e portarono la loro confusione con quelli che discenderono nello lago (cioè nello inferno). | 30 "The princes of the north are there, all of them, and all the Sidonians, who have gone down in shame with the slain, for all the terror which they caused by their might; they lie uncircumcised with those who are slain by the sword, and bear their shame with those who go down to the Pit. |
| 31 E Faraone li vide, e fu consolato sopra la universa moltitudine sua, la quale fue morta di coltello; Faraone e tutto lo suo esercito, disse lo Signore Iddio; | 31 "When Pharaoh sees them, he will comfort himself for all his multitude, Pharaoh and all his army, slain by the sword, says the Lord GOD. |
| 32 però che diede lo suo spaventamento nella terra de' viventi; e dormie nel mezzo delli incirconcisi colli morti di coltello, Faracne e tutta la sua moltitudine, dice lo Signore Iddio. | 32 For he spread terror in the land of the living; therefore he shall be laid among the uncircumcised, with those who are slain by the sword, Pharaoh and all his multitude, says the Lord GOD." |
