Isaia 64

BIBBIA VOLGARE	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Avessimo grato che tu rompessi li cieli, e iscendessi giuso; che li monti si movessono per la tua faccia,	1 That thou wouldst rend the heavens, and wouldst come down: the mountains would melt away at thy presence.
2 e diventasseno niente come l'arsione del fuoco, e il fuoco ardesse loro, acciò che si facesse manifesto lo tuo nome alli tuoi nimici, e che le genti si turbassono per la tua faccia (cioè per paura).	2 They would melt as at the burning of fire, the waters would burn with fire, that thy name might be made known to thy enemies: that the nations might tremble at thy presence.
3 E conciosia cosa che tu faccia le maraviglie, noi non ti sosterremo; tu iscendesti, e li monti iscorsono dalla tua faccia.	3 When thou shalt do wonderful things, we shall not bear them: thou didst come down, and at thy presence the mountains melted away.
4 Mai non fu udito, e non si ricevette mai in orecchie; e occhio non vidde sanza te quello che tu, Signore, apparecchiasti a quelli che ti aspettano, (cioè quelli che hanno speranza in te).	4 From the beginning of the world they have not heard, nor perceived with the ears: the eye hath not seen, O God, besides thee, what things thou hast prepared for them that wait for thee.
5 Tu venisti contro a quelli che se ne rallegra e che fa la giustizia; egli si ricorderanno di te nelle tue vie (cioè nelle tue opere); ecco tu se' adirato, e noi peccammo; e fummo sempre nelli peccati, e pure ci salveremo.	5 Thou hast met him that rejoiceth, and doth justice: in thy ways they shall remember thee: behold thou art angry, and we have sinned: in them we have been always, and we shall be saved.
6 E siamo fatti sì come l'uomo brutto tutti noi; e come lo panno della donna che hae partorito, così sono le nostre giustizie; e tutti cademmo come foglie, e le nostre iniquitadi tolsono noi come uno vento.	6 And we are all become as one unclean, and all our justices as the rag of a menstruous woman: and we have all fallen as a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
7 E non è chi chiami lo tuo nome, e chi si levi e tenga te; tu nascondesti la tua faccia da noi, e percotesti noi nella mano della nostra malvagitade.	7 There is none that calleth upon thy name: that riseth up, and taketh hold of thee: thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast crushed us in the hand of our iniquity.
8 E ora, Signore, tu se' lo nostro padre, e noi siamo loto; e tu se' nostro facitore, e tutti siamo opera delle tue mani.	8 And now, O Lord, thou art our father, and we are clay: and thou art our maker, and we all are the works of thy hands.
9 O Signore, non ti adirare assai, e non ti ricordare più delle nostre malvagitadi; ecco, Signore, ragguarda noi, per ciò che siamo tutti il popolo tuo.	9 Be not very angry, O Lord, and remember no longer our iniquity: behold, see we are all thy people.
10 La tua cittade santa sì è fatta deserta; Sion è fatta deserta; è desolata Ierusalem.	10 The city of thy sanctuary is become a desert, Sion is made a desert, Jerusalem is desolate.
11 E la casa della nostra santificazione sì è desolata, e quella della nostra gloria, dove li nostri padri diedono laude a te; e quello luogo venne alle mani del fuoco, e tutte le nostre cose desiderabili sono rivolte in rovine.	11 The house of our holiness, and of our glory, where our fathers praised thee, is burnt with fire, and all our lovely things are turned into ruins.
12 Signore, contenerai tu te sopra tutte queste cose, o tacerai tu? (istando così) darai tu così forte afflizione a noi?	12 Wilt thou refrain thyself, O Lord, upon these things, wilt thou hold thy peace, and afflict us vehemently?
