1 Simeone, figliuolo di Onia, grande sacerdote, che in sua vita levoe (e inalzoe) la casa, e nelli di suoi fortificoe il tempio.	1 The greatest among his brethren, the glory of his people, was SIMON the priest, son of Jochanan, In whose time the house of God was renovated, in whose days the temple was reinforced.
2 E l'altezza del tempio fu fondata da lui, doppia edificazione, e li alti muri del tempio.	2 In his time also the wall was built with powerful turrets for the temple precincts;
3 Nelli suoi dì abbondarono li pozzi delle acque, e come mare s'empirono oltra modo.	3 In his time the reservoir was dug, the pool with a vastness like the sea's.
4 Il quale curoe la gente sua, e liberolla da perdizione.	4 He protected his people against brigands and strengthened his city against the enemy.
5 Il quale antivalse in amplificare la cittade, il quale acquistoe fama nella conversazione della gente; e si amplioe l'entrata della casa e dello atrio.	5 How splendid he was as he appeared from the tent, as he came from within the veil!
6 Sì come stella mattutina in mezzo della nuvola, e sì come luna piena nelli dì suoi luce.	6 Like a star shining among the clouds, like the full moon at the holyday season;
7 E sì come sole risplendente, così colui risplendette (e riluce) nel tempio di Dio.	7 Like the sun shining upon the temple, like the rainbow appearing in the cloudy sky;
8 E sì come l'arco del cielo risplendendo nelli nuvoli della gloria, e sì come il fiore della rosa nelli dì della primavera, e sì come li gigli che sono nel transito dell' acqua, e sì come incenso rendente odore nelli di della state.	8 Like the blossoms on the branches in springtime, like a lily on the banks of a stream; Like the trees of Lebanon in summer,
9 E sì come fuoco chiaro, e sì come incenso ardente nel fuoco.	9 like the fire of incense at the sacrifice; Like a vessel of beaten gold, studded with precious stones;
10 E sì come vasello d'oro sodo, ornato d'ogni pietra preziosa.	10 Like a luxuriant olive tree thick with fruit, like a cypress standing against the clouds;
11 E come uliva pollulante, e sì come cipresso levandosi in alto, in togliendo esso stola di gloria, e in vestirsi in compimento di virtù.	11 Vested in his magnificent robes, and wearing his garments of splendor, As he ascended the glorious altar and lent majesty to the court of the sanctuary.
12 Nella salita dell' altare santo, diede coprimento, gloria di santitade.	12 When he received the sundered victims from the priests while he stood before the sacrificial wood, His brethren ringed him about like a garland, like a stand of cedars on Lebanon;
13 In tòrre le parti di mano del sacerdote, elli stando a lato all' altare, intorno a lui la corona dei fratelli fue sì come piantagione di cedro in monte Libano.	13 All the sons of Aaron in their dignity clustered around him like poplars, With the offerings to the LORD in their hands, in the presence of the whole assembly of Israel.
14 Così stettono intorno a lui come rami di palma, e tutti li figliuoli di Aaron nella gloria sua.	14 Once he had completed the services at the altar with the arranging of the sacrifices for the Most High,
15 L'offerta del Signore nelle loro mani, dinanzi a ogni sinagoga d' Israel; e spandendo nello altare, in compimento del sacrificio, amplificare la oblazione del re sublime.	15 And had stretched forth his hand for the cup, to offer blood of the grape, And poured it out at the foot of the altar, a sweet-smelling odor to the Most High God,
16 Porse la mano sua nel sacrificio, e bevè del sangue dell' uva.	16 The sons of Aaron would sound a blast, the priests, on their trumpets of beaten metal; A blast to resound mightily as a reminder before the Most High.
17 Gittoe nel fondamento dello altare odore divino allo eccelso principe.	17 Then all the people with one accord would quickly fall prostrate to the ground In adoration before the Most High, before the Holy One of Israel.
18 Allora gridarono li figliuoli di Aaron, e sonarono le trombe, e in ricordanza feciono udire grande voce dinanzi da Dio.	18 Then hymns would re-echo, and over the throng sweet strains of praise resound.
19 Allora il popolo tutto insieme si studiarono, e caddono bocconi in terra ad adorare Iddio suo, e a pregare l' Onnipotente Iddio eccelso.	19 All the people of the land would shout for joy, praying to the Merciful One, As the high priest completed the services at the altar by presenting to God the sacrifice due;
20 E amplificarono li cantori nelle voci sue; ed è fatto suono pieno di suavitade nella grande casa.	20 Then coming down he would raise his hands over all the congregation of Israel. The blessing of the LORD would be upon his lips, the name of the LORD would be his glory.
21 E pregò il popolo Iddio eccelso, insino a tanto che fue compiuto l'onore del Signore; e compierono l'onore nel dono suo.	21 Then again the people would lie prostrate to receive from him the blessing of the Most High.
22 Allora discendendo levoe le mani verso tutta la radunanza de' figliuoli d' Israel, a dare gloria a Dio delle lingue loro, e gloriarsi nel nome suo.	22 And now, bless the God of all, who has done wondrous things on earth; Who fosters men's growth from their mother's womb, and fashions them according to his will!
23 E ricominciò l'orazione sua, volendo mostrare la virtù di Dio.	23 May he grant you joy of heart and may peace abide among you;
24 E più adorò Iddio di tutti, il quale fece grandi cose in ogni terra, il quale crebbe li dì nostri dal ventre della madre nostra, e fece con noi secondo la sua misericordia.	24 May his goodness toward us endure in Israel as long as the heavens are above.
25 Diaci gioconditade del cuor nostro, e a fare pace nelli di nostri in Israel per sempre mai.	25 My whole being loathes two nations, the third is not even a people:
26 Israel, credi essere con noi la misericordia di Dio, acciò ch' elli [ci] liberi nelli dì suoi.	26 Those who live in Seir and Philistia, and the degenerate folk who dwell in Shechem.
27 Due genti odia l' anima mia; la terza non è gente la quale io abbia odiata;	27 Wise instruction, appropriate proverbs, I have written in this book, I, Jesus, son of Eleazar, son of Sirach, as they gushed forth from my heart's understanding.
28 Coloro che seggono in monte Seir, i Filistei, il stolto popolo che abita in Sichem.	28 Happy the man who meditates upon these things, wise the man who takes them to heart!
29 Dottrina di sapienza e disciplina scrisse in questo libro Iesù, figliuolo di Sirac di Ierusalem, il quale rinnovoe la sapienza del suo cuore.	29 If he puts them into practice, he can cope with anything, for the fear of the LORD is his lamp.
30 Beato colui che conversa in questi beni; colui che li metterae nel cuore suo, sarà savio sempre.
31 Se egli farae queste cose, varrae a tutte le cose; però che la luce di Dio sì è sua guida.
