| 1 Di dodici anni era Manasse quando incominciò a regnare, e cinquantacinque anni regnò in Ierusalem. La sua madre ebbe nome Afsiba. | 1 Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty-five years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Hephzibah. |
| 2 E fece male nel cospetto di Dio, secondo gli idoli delle genti, le quali il Signore disfece nel cospetto de' figliuoli d' Israel. | 2 And he did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to the abominable practices of the nations whom the LORD drove out before the people of Israel. |
| 3 E rivoltossi, ed edificò i luoghi alti, i quali avea dissipati Ezechia suo padre; e dirizzò altari a Baal, e fece boschi, sì come avea fatti Acab re d' Israel; e adorò tutta la milizia del cielo, e amò quella. | 3 For he rebuilt the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he erected altars for Baal, and made an Asherah, as Ahab king of Israel had done, and worshiped all the host of heaven, and served them. |
| 4 Ed edificò li altari nella casa del Signore, della quale disse il Signore: in Ierusalem porrò il mio nome. | 4 And he built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD had said, "In Jerusalem will I put my name." |
| 5 E fece altari a tutta la milizia del cielo in due case del tempio del Signore. | 5 And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD. |
| 6 E menò il suo figliuolo per fuoco, e fece divinazione, e osservò costellazioni, e fece indovini, e moltiplicò aruspici, per fare male nel cospetto di Dio; e provocollo. | 6 And he burned his son as an offering, and practiced soothsaying and augury, and dealt with mediums and with wizards. He did much evil in the sight of the LORD, provoking him to anger. |
| 7 E puose l'idolo del bosco, il quale avea fatto, nel tempio di Dio; del quale Iddio avea detto a David e a Salomone suo figliuolo: in questo tempio e in Ierusalem, la quale io ho eletta di tutte le tribù d'Israel, porrò il mio nome in sempiterno. | 7 And the graven image of Asherah that he had made he set in the house of which the LORD said to David and to Solomon his son, "In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my name for ever; |
| 8 E da quinci innanzi non farò muover lo piè d'Israel della terra la quale io diedi ai padri loro; ma in cotale modo, se loro per opera faranno tutte quelle cose ch' io ho comandate loro, e tutta la legge la quale comandò il mio servo Moisè. | 8 and I will not cause the feet of Israel to wander any more out of the land which I gave to their fathers, if only they will be careful to do according to all that I have commanded them, and according to all the law that my servant Moses commanded them." |
| 9 E quelli non l'udirono; anzi furono ingannati da Manasse, facendo male più che le genti, le quali Iddio disperse nel cospetto de' figliuoli d'Israel. | 9 But they did not listen, and Manasseh seduced them to do more evil than the nations had done whom the LORD destroyed before the people of Israel. |
| 10 E favellò il Signore in mano de' suoi servi profeti, dicendo: | 10 And the LORD said by his servants the prophets, |
| 11 Però che Manasse ha fatte queste abominazioni pessime, sopra tutte quelle che fecero gli Amorrei innanzi a lui, e fece peccare ancora Giuda nelle sue immondizie; | 11 "Because Manasseh king of Judah has committed these abominations, and has done things more wicked than all that the Amorites did, who were before him, and has made Judah also to sin with his idols; |
| 12 per la quale cosa questo dice il Signore Iddio d' Israel: ecco ch' io inducerò mali sopra Ierusalem e Giuda; che ciascuno che l'udirà, amendue le orecchie gli sonerà. | 12 therefore thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, Behold, I am bringing upon Jerusalem and Judah such evil that the ears of every one who hears of it will tingle. |
| 13 Ed estenderò sopra Ierusalem lo funicolo (e flagello) di Samaria, e lo peso della casa di Acab; e spegnerò Ierusalem, sì come si suole spegnere le tavole; e ispegnendola, volgerò e più spesso menerò lo stile sopra la faccia sua. | 13 And I will stretch over Jerusalem the measuring line of Samaria, and the plummet of the house of Ahab; and I will wipe Jerusalem as one wipes a dish, wiping it and turning it upside down. |
| 14 Ma lascerò le reliquie della mia eredità, e darò loro in mano de' loro nemici; e saranno in disfacimento e in rapina di tutti gli avversarii suoi. | 14 And I will cast off the remnant of my heritage, and give them into the hand of their enemies, and they shall become a prey and a spoil to all their enemies, |
| 15 Però che hanno fatto male dinanzi a me, e hanno perseverato provocandomi, dal dì che i padri loro uscirono (della terra) d' Egitto, insino al dì presente. | 15 because they have done what is evil in my sight and have provoked me to anger, since the day their fathers came out of Egypt, even to this day." |
| 16 E sopra tutto questo Manasse sparse sangue innocente, tanto ch' egli empiè Ierusalem insino alla bocca; senza i suoi peccati, ne' quali fece peccare Giuda, a far male nel cospetto di Dio. | 16 Moreover Manasseh shed very much innocent blood, till he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another, besides the sin which he made Judah to sin so that they did what was evil in the sight of the LORD. |
| 17 Tutte le altre cose di Manasse, e quello che fece, e il suo peccato nel quale peccò, non sono queste cose scritte nel libro de' fatti de' re di Giuda? | 17 Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and all that he did, and the sin that he committed, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? |
| 18 E dormi Manasse colli padri suoi, e fue seppellito nell' orto della casa sua, nell' orto di Oza; e regnò Amon suo figliuolo per lui. | 18 And Manasseh slept with his fathers, and was buried in the garden of his house, in the garden of Uzza; and Amon his son reigned in his stead. |
| 19 E quando Amon incominciò a regnare, era di XXII anni; e due anni regnò in Ierusalem; il nome della sua madre fu Messalemet figliuola di Arus di Ieteba. | 19 Amon was twenty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned two years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Meshullemeth the daughter of Haruz of Jotbah. |
| 20 E fece male nel cospetto di Dio, sì come avea fatto Manasse suo padre. | 20 And he did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, as Manasseh his father had done. |
| 21 E andò per tutta la via per la quale era andato il padre suo; e servì a tutte le immondizie alle quali avea servito il suo padre, e adorolle. | 21 He walked in all the way in which his father walked, and served the idols that his father served, and worshiped them; |
| 22 E lasciò lo Iddio de' padri suoi, e non andò per la via del Signore. | 22 he forsook the LORD, the God of his fathers, and did not walk in the way of the LORD. |
| 23 E puoserli agguati i servi suoi; e uccisero il re in casa sua. | 23 And the servants of Amon conspired against him, and killed the king in his house. |
| 24 E il popolo della terra uccise tutti quegli ch' aveano congiurato contro al re Amon; e fecero loro re per lui Iosia figliuolo suo. | 24 But the people of the land slew all those who had conspired against King Amon, and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his stead. |
| 25 Tutto l'altro de' fatti d' Amon, e ciò ch' egli fece, non è ello iscritto nel libro de' fatti de' re di Giuda? | 25 Now the rest of the acts of Amon which he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? |
| 26 E seppellironlo nel sepolcro [suo], nell' orto di Oza; e regnò Iosia suo figliuolo per lui. | 26 And he was buried in his tomb in the garden of Uzza; and Josiah his son reigned in his stead. |
