Luke 24

1 Then, on the first Sabbath, at very first light, they went to the tomb, carrying the aromatic spices that they had prepared.	1 Il primo giorno della settimana, di buon mattino, si recarono al sepolcro, portando gli aromi che avevano preparato.
2 And they found the stone rolled back from the tomb.	2 Trovarono che la pietra che chiudeva il sepolcro era stata rimossa,
3 And upon entering, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.	3 ma, entrate, non trovarono il corpo del Signore Gesù.
4 And it happened that, while their minds were still confused about this, behold, two men stood beside them, in shining apparel.	4 Se ne stavano lì senza sapere che cosa fare, quando apparvero loro due uomini, con vesti splendenti.
5 Then, since they were afraid and were turning their faces toward the ground, these two said to them: “Why do you seek the living with the dead?	5 Le donne, impaurite, tenevano il volto chinato a terra. Ma i due uomini dissero loro: "Perché cercate tra i morti il vivente?
6 He is not here, for he has risen. Recall how he spoke to you, when he was still in Galilee,	6 Non è qui, ma è risuscitato. Ricordatevi come vi ha parlato quando era ancora in Galilea,
7 saying: ‘For the Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again.’ ”	7 quando diceva che era necessario che il Figlio dell'uomo fosse consegnato in mano ai peccatori, che fosse crocifisso e il terzo giorno risuscitasse".
8 And they called to mind his words.	8 E si ricordarono delle sue parole.
9 And returning from the tomb, they reported all these things to the eleven, and to all the others.	9 Tornate dal sepolcro, raccontarono tutto questo agli Undici e a tutti gli altri.
10 Now it was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary of James, and the other women who were with them, who told these things to the Apostles.	10 Erano Maria di Màgdala, Giovanna e Maria di Giacomo. Anche le altre donne che erano insieme lo raccontarono agli apostoli.
11 But these words seemed to them a delusion. And so they did not believe them.	11 Ma queste parole parvero ad essi come un'allucinazione e non credettero alle donne.
12 But Peter, rising up, ran to the tomb. And stooping down, he saw the linen cloths positioned alone, and he went away wondering to himself about what had happened.	12 Pietro, però, alzatosi, corse al sepolcro. Guardò dentro e vide solo le bende. E se ne tornò indietro meravigliato di quanto era avvenuto.
13 And behold, two of them went out, on the same day, to a town named Emmaus, which was the distance of sixty stadia from Jerusalem.	13 In quel medesimo giorno, due dei discepoli si trovavano in cammino verso un villaggio, detto Emmaus, distante circa sette miglia da Gerusalemme,
14 And they spoke to one another about all of these things that had occurred.	14 e discorrevano fra loro di tutto quello che era accaduto.
15 And it happened that, while they were speculating and questioning within themselves, Jesus himself, drawing near, traveled with them.	15 Mentre discorrevano e discutevano, Gesù si avvicinò e si mise a camminare con loro.
16 But their eyes were restrained, so that they would not recognize him.	16 Ma i loro occhi erano impediti dal riconoscerlo.
17 And he said to them, “What are these words, which you are discussing with one another, as you walk and are sad?”	17 Ed egli disse loro: "Che discorsi sono questi che vi scambiate l'un l'altro, cammin facendo?". Si fermarono, tristi.
18 And one of them, whose name was Cleopas, responded by saying to him, “Are you the only one visiting Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?”	18 Uno di loro, di nome Cleopa, gli disse: "Tu solo sei così straniero in Gerusalemme da non sapere ciò che vi è accaduto in questi giorni?".
19 And he said to them, “What things?” And they said, “About Jesus of Nazareth, who was a noble prophet, powerful in works and in words, before God and all the people.	19 Domandò: "Che cosa?". Gli risposero: "Il caso di Gesù, il Nazareno, che era un profeta potente in opere e in parole, davanti a Dio e a tutto il popolo;
20 And how our high priests and leaders handed him over to be condemned to death. And they crucified him.	20 come i gran sacerdoti e i nostri capi lo hanno consegnato per essere condannato a morte e lo hanno crocifisso.
21 But we were hoping that he would be the Redeemer of Israel. And now, on top of all this, today is the third day since these things have happened.	21 Noi speravamo che fosse lui quello che avrebbe liberato Israele. Ma siamo già al terzo giorno da quando sono accaduti questi fatti.
22 Then, too, certain women from among us terrified us. For before daytime, they were at the tomb,	22 Tuttavia alcune donne tra noi ci hanno sconvolti. Esse si sono recate di buon mattino al sepolcro,
23 and, having not found his body, they returned, saying that they had even seen a vision of Angels, who said that he is alive.	23 ma non hanno trovato il suo corpo. Sono tornate a dirci di aver avuto una visione di angeli, i quali affermano che egli è vivo.
24 And some of us went out to the tomb. And they found it just as the women had said. But truly, they did not find him.”	24 Alcuni dei nostri sono andati al sepolcro e hanno trovato tutto come avevano detto le donne, ma lui non l'hanno visto".
25 And he said to them: “How foolish and reluctant in heart you are, to believe everything that has been spoken by the Prophets!	25 Allora egli disse loro: "O stolti e tardi di cuore a credere a quello che hanno detto i profeti!
26 Was not the Christ required to suffer these things, and so enter into his glory?”	26 Non doveva forse il Cristo patire tutto questo ed entrare nella sua gloria?".
27 And beginning from Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted for them, in all the Scriptures, the things that were about him.	27 E cominciando da Mosè e da tutti i profeti, spiegò loro quanto lo riguardava in tutte le Scritture.
28 And they drew near to the town were they were going. And he conducted himself so as to go on further.	28 Quando furono vicini al villaggio dove erano diretti, egli fece finta di proseguire.
29 But they were insistent with him, saying, “Remain with us, because it is toward evening and now daylight is declining.” And so he entered with them.	29 Ma essi lo costrinsero a fermarsi, dicendo: "Resta con noi, perché si fa sera ed il sole ormai tramonta". Egli entrò per rimanere con loro.
30 And it happened that, while he was at table with them, he took bread, and he blessed and broke it, and he extended it to them.	30 Or avvenne che mentre si trovava a tavola con loro prese il pane, pronunciò la benedizione, lo spezzò e lo distribuì loro.
31 And their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. And he vanished from their eyes.	31 Allora si aprirono i loro occhi e lo riconobbero. Ma egli disparve ai loro sguardi.
32 And they said to one another, “Was not our heart burning within us, while he was speaking on the way, and when he opened the Scriptures to us?”	32 Si dissero allora l'un l'altro: "Non ardeva forse il nostro cuore quando egli, lungo la via, ci parlava e ci spiegava le Scritture?".
33 And rising up at that same hour, they returned to Jerusalem. And they found the eleven gathered together, and those who were with them,	33 Quindi si alzarono e ritornarono subito a Gerusalemme, dove trovarono gli Undici riuniti e quelli che erano con loro.
34 saying: “In truth, the Lord has risen, and he has appeared to Simon.”	34 Costoro dicevano: "Il Signore è veramente risorto ed è apparso a Simone".
35 And they explained the things that were done on the way, and how they had recognized him at the breaking of the bread.	35 Ed essi raccontarono ciò che era accaduto lungo il cammino e come l'avevano riconosciuto allo spezzare del pane.
36 Then, while they were talking about these things, Jesus stood in their midst, And he said to them: “Peace be with you. It is I. Do not be afraid.”	36 Mentre parlavano di queste cose, Gesù stette in mezzo a loro e disse: "Pace a voi!".
37 Yet truly, they were very disturbed and terrified, supposing that they saw a spirit.	37 Sconvolti e pieni di paura, credevano di vedere un fantasma.
38 And he said to them: “Why are you disturbed, and why do these thoughts rise up in your hearts?	38 Ma egli disse loro: "Perché siete turbati? E perché sorgono dubbi nei vostri cuori?
39 See my hands and feet, that it is I myself. Look and touch. For a spirit does not have flesh and bones, as you see that I have.”	39 Guardate le mie mani e i miei piedi: sono proprio io! Toccatemi ed osservate: un fantasma non ha carne ed ossa come vedete che io ho".
40 And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet.	40 E mentre diceva queste cose, mostrava loro le mani e i piedi.
41 Then, while they were still in disbelief and in wonder out of joy, he said, “Do you have anything here to eat?”	41 Ma poiché per la gioia non riuscivano a crederci ed erano pieni di stupore, egli disse loro: "Avete qualcosa da mangiare?".
42 And they offered him a piece of roasted fish and a honeycomb.	42 Gli diedero un po' di pesce arrostito.
43 And when he had eaten these in their sight, taking up what was left, he gave it to them.	43 Egli lo prese e lo mangiò davanti a loro.
44 And he said to them: “These are the words that I spoke to you when I was still with you, because all things must be fulfilled which are written in the law of Moses, and in the Prophets, and in the Psalms about me.”	44 Poi disse: "Era proprio questo che vi dicevo quando ero ancora con voi: bisogna che si adempia tutto ciò che di me sta scritto nella legge di Mosè, nei Profeti e nei Salmi".
45 Then he opened their mind, so that they might understand the Scriptures.	45 Allora aprì loro la mente all'intelligenza delle Scritture.
46 And he said to them: “For so it is written, and so it was necessary, for the Christ to suffer and to rise up from the dead on the third day,	46 Ed aggiunse: "Così sta scritto: il Cristo doveva patire e il terzo giorno risuscitare dai morti;
47 and, in his name, for repentance and the remission of sins to be preached, among all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem.	47 nel suo nome saranno predicati a tutte le genti la conversione e il perdono dei peccati.
48 And you are witnesses of these things.	48 Voi sarete testimoni di tutto questo, cominciando da Gerusalemme.
49 And I am sending the Promise of my Father upon you. But you must stay in the city, until such time as you are clothed with power from on high.”	49 Ed ecco che io manderò su di voi quello che il Padre mio ha promesso. Voi però restate in città, fino a quando non sarete rivestiti di potenza dall'alto".
50 Then he led them out as far as Bethania. And lifting up his hands, he blessed them.	50 Poi li condusse fuori, verso Betània e, alzate le mani, li benedì.
51 And it happened that, while he was blessing them, he withdrew from them, and he was carried up into heaven.	51 Mentre li benediceva, si separò da loro e veniva portato nel cielo.
52 And worshiping, they returned to Jerusalem with great joy.	52 Essi, dopo averlo adorato, se ne tornarono a Gerusalemme con grande gioia.
53 And they were always in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.	53 E stavano sempre nel tempio lodando e ringraziando Dio.
