Luke 4

1 Fil ed with the Holy Spirit, Jesus left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the desert,	1 E Iesù, pieno di Spirito santo, partissi dal Giordano; ed era menato dal Spirito nel deserto
2 for forty days being put to the test by the devil. During that time he ate nothing and at the end he washungry.	2 per quaranta giorni, ed era tentato dal diavolo. E in quelli giorni non mangiò alcuna cosa; e finiti quelli giorni, ebbe fame.
3 Then the devil said to him, 'If you are Son of God, tel this stone to turn into a loaf.'	3 Onde dissegli il diavolo: se sei figliuolo di Dio, di' a questa pietra, che si faccia pane.
4 But Jesus replied, 'Scripture says: Human beings live not on bread alone.'	4 E Iesù gli rispose: egli è scritto, che l' uomo non vive di solo pane, ma sì con ogni parola di Dio.
5 Then leading him to a height, the devil showed him in a moment of time al the kingdoms of the world	5 E il diavolo il condusse in uno monte altissimo, e mostro'li in uno momento di tempo tutti li regni del circuito della terra.
6 and said to him, 'I wil give you al this power and their splendour, for it has been handed over to me, forme to give it to anyone I choose.	6 E dissegli a te darò tutta questa potestà, e la loro gloria; imperò che a me sono concesse, e a cui voglio dono quelle.
7 Do homage, then, to me, and it shal al be yours.'	7 Fu adunque, se (gittato a terra) in mia presenza adorerai, tutte queste cose saranno tue.
8 But Jesus answered him, 'Scripture says: You must do homage to the Lord your God, him alone youmust serve.'	8 E rispondendo Iesù gli disse: egli è scritto: tu adorerai il Signore tuo, e a lui solo servirai.
9 Then he led him to Jerusalem and set him on the parapet of the Temple. 'If you are Son of God,' he saidto him, 'throw yourself down from here,	9 Ed egli il menò in Ierusalem; poselo sopra la cima del tempio, e dissegli: se sei figliuolo di Dio, di qua gèttati disotto.
10 for scripture says: He has given his angels orders about you, to guard you, and again:	10 Imperò ch' egli è scritto, ch' egli ha comandato alli angioli suoi di te, che loro ti conservino,
11 They wil carry you in their arms in case you trip over a stone.'	11 e che ti togliano nelle mani, acciò forse non offendi al tuo piede.
12 But Jesus answered him, 'Scripture says: Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'	12 E rispondendo Iesù, gli disse: egli è detto: non tenterai il Signore Dio tuo.
13 Having exhausted every way of putting him to the test, the devil left him, until the opportune moment.	13 E finita ogni tentazione, partissi il diavolo da lui insino a tempo.
14 Jesus, with the power of the Spirit in him, returned to Galilee; and his reputation spread throughout thecountryside.	14 E Iesù in virtù del Spirito (santo) ritornò in Galilea; e per tutta la regione si sparse la fama di lui.
15 He taught in their synagogues and everyone glorified him.	15 Ed egli insegnava nelle loro sinagoghe, ed era da tutti magnificato.
16 He came to Nazara, where he had been brought up, and went into the synagogue on the Sabbath dayas he usually did. He stood up to read,	16 Ed egli venne in Nazaret, dove era stato nutricato; e secondo la sua consuetudine entrò nel dì di sabbato nella sinagoga, e levossi a leggere.
17 and they handed him the scrol of the prophet Isaiah. Unrol ing the scrol he found the place where it iswritten:	17 E fu'li dato il libro di Isaia profeta; e rivolgendo il libro, trovò il luogo dove era scritto:
18 The spirit of the Lord is on me, for he has anointed me to bring the good news to the afflicted. He hassent me to proclaim liberty to captives, sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free,	18 il spirito del Signore è sopra di me; per la qual cosa mi ha unto, e mandato a evangelizzare i poveri, a sanare i contriti di cuore;
19 to proclaim a year of favour from the Lord.	19 a predicar alli captivi la liberazione, e dare il vedere ai ciechi; a lasciar i constretti in la remissione; a predicar l'accetto anno del Signore, e il giorno della retribuzione.
20 He then rol ed up the scrol , gave it back to the assistant and sat down. And all eyes in the synagogue were fixed on him.	20 E avendo piegato il libro, restituillo al ministro, e puosesi a sedere. E gli occhi di tutti che erano nella sinagoga, stavano intenti in lui.
21 Then he began to speak to them, 'This text is being fulfilled today even while you are listening.'	21 Ed egli cominciò dicere a quelli: come oggi è adempiuta questa scrittura nelle vostre orecchie.
22 And he won the approval of all, and they were astonished by the gracious words that came from hislips. They said, 'This is Joseph's son, surely?'	22 E tutti li davano la testimonianza, e maravigliavansi nelle parole della grazia, le quali procedevano della sua bocca, e dicevano: or non è costui il figliuolo di Iosef?
23 But he replied, 'No doubt you will quote me the saying, "Physician, heal yourself," and tel me, "We have heard al that happened in Capernaum, do the same here in your own country." '	23 Egli disse: certamente a me direte questa similitudine: medico, sana te medesimo; quante cose avemo udito che tu hai fatto in Cafarnao, fanne anche qui in la tua patria.
24 And he went on, 'In truth I tel you, no prophet is ever accepted in his own country.	24 E Iesù rispose a loro: in verità vi dico che niuno profeta è accetto nella patria sua.
25 'There were many widows in Israel, I can assure you, in Elijah's day, when heaven remained shut forthree years and six months and a great famine raged throughout the land,	25 E dicovi in verità, che molte vidue erano in Israel nel tempo di Elia, quando il cielo stette chiuso tre anni e sei mesi, ed essendo grande fame in tutta la terra.
26 but Elijah was not sent to any one of these: he was sent to a widow at Zarephath, a town in Sidonia.	26 A niuna di quelle vidue fu mandato Elia, se non in Saret di Sidonia ad una vidua.
27 And in the prophet Elisha's time there were many suffering from virulent skin-diseases in Israel, butnone of these was cured -- only Naaman the Syrian.'	27 E molti leprosi erano in Israel nel tempo di Eliseo profeta; e niuno di loro fu (sanato e) mondato, se non Naaman di Siria.
28 When they heard this everyone in the synagogue was enraged.	28 E a queste parole ognuno ch' era in la sinagoga si corrucciò (e adirossi) fortemente.
29 They sprang to their feet and hustled him out of the town; and they took him up to the brow of the hilltheir town was built on, intending to throw him off the cliff,	29 E levoronsi suso, e caccioronlo fuori della città; e menoronlo insino in cima del monte, sopra il quale monte la città loro era edificata, per gittarlo giuso (per la ripa nella valle).
30 but he passed straight through the crowd and walked away.	30 Ma Iesù passò per mezzo di loro, e andò (alla via sua).
31 He went down to Capernaum, a town in Galilee, and taught them on the Sabbath.	31 Ed egli discese in Cafarnao, città di Galilea e quivi (ammaestrava e) insegnava a loro nelli giorni del sabbato.
32 And his teaching made a deep impression on them because his word carried authority.	32 E meravigliavansi nella sua dottrina; conciosia che il parlare suo era in potestà.
33 In the synagogue there was a man possessed by the spirit of an unclean devil, and he shouted at thetop of his voice,	33 Ed eravi nella sinagoga uno uomo avente il demonio immondo; ed egli gridò con grande voce,
34 'Ha! What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who youare: the Holy One of God.'	34 dicendo: lasciaci stare, che giova a noi e a te, o Iesù Nazareno? sei venuto a ucciderne? io so che tu sei il santo di Dio.
35 But Jesus rebuked it, saying, 'Be quiet! Come out of him!' And the devil, throwing the man into themiddle, went out of him without hurting him at all.	35 E Iesù il riprese, dicendo: taci, e pàrtiti da lui. E avendolo cacciato il demonio in mezzo di coloro, [uscì da lui]; e non li nocette in alcuna parte.
36 Astonishment seized them and they were al saying to one another, 'What is it in his words? He givesorders to unclean spirits with authority and power and they come out.'	36 Onde in tutti fu fatto il spavento, e insieme parlavano, dicendo: che cosa è questa, e che parlare? imperò ch' egli comanda nella possanza e virtù alli spiriti immondi, e quelli escono (e partonsi).
37 And the news of him travel ed al through the surrounding countryside.	37 E di lui spargevasi (per tutto) la fama in ogni luogo della regione.
38 Leaving the synagogue he went to Simon's house. Now Simon's mother-in-law was in the grip of ahigh fever and they asked him to do something for her.	38 E levandosi Iesù della sinagoga, entrò in casa di Simone. E la suocera di Simone giaceva con grande febbre, e pregorono Iesù per lei.
39 Standing over her he rebuked the fever and it left her. And she immediately got up and began to servethem.	39 E Iesù stando sopra lei, comandò alla febbre (che si partisse, e la febbre si parti); e lasciolla. E incontanente levossi suso, e servivali.
40 At sunset al those who had friends suffering from diseases of one kind or another brought them tohim, and laying his hands on each he cured them.	40 E come il sole fu tramontato, tutti quelli che aveano infermi di diverse infermità, gli menavano a Iesù. E Iesù ponendo a loro le mani addosso, sana vagli tutti.
41 Devils too came out of many people, shouting, 'You are the Son of God.' But he warned them andwould not al ow them to speak because they knew that he was the Christ.	41 E molti demonii partivansi gridando, e dicevano tu sei figliuolo di Dio. E Iesù riprendendoli, non lasciava parlare; imperò ch' egli sapevano che egli era Cristo.
42 When daylight came he left the house and made his way to a lonely place. The crowds went to look forhim, and when they had caught up with him they wanted to prevent him leaving them,	42 E fatto che fu giorno, uscì fuori (e partissi indi) e andò in luogo deserto; e le turbe cercavanlo, e vennero a lui, e tenevanlo acciò che non si partisse da loro.
43 but he answered, 'I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns too,because that is what I was sent to do.'	43 Alli quali Iesù disse: a me conviene andare ad altre città a predicare (e annunciare) il regno di Dio; chè per questo sono mandato.
44 And he continued his proclamation in the synagogues of Judaea.	44 E (partissi allora e) andò predicando per le sinagoghe di Galilea.
