1 And after five days Ananias the high priest descended with the elders, and with a certain orator named Tertullus, who informed the governor against Paul.	1 Cinque giorni dopo arrivò il sommo sacerdote Anania con alcuni anziani e un avvocato, un certo Tertullo, i quali si costituirono davanti al governatore come accusatori di Paolo.
2 And when he was called forth, Tertullus began to accuse him, saying, Seeing that by thee we enjoy great quietness, and that very worthy deeds are done unto this nation by thy providence,	2 Paolo fu chiamato e Tertullo cominciò la sua accusa dicendo: "Avendo la fortuna, per merito tuo, di godere di grande pace e fruendo questo popolo di vantaggiose riforme grazie alla tua preveggenza,
3 We accept it always, and in all places, most noble Felix, with all thankfulness.	3 in tutto e per tutto, noi te ne rendiamo lode, o eccellentissimo Felice, con ogni gratitudine.
4 Notwithstanding, that I be not further tedious unto thee, I pray thee that thou wouldest hear us of thy clemency a few words.	4 Ma per non importunarti più a lungo, ti prego di volerci ascoltare brevemente con quella benevolenza che ti distingue.
5 For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes:	5 Abbiamo trovato questa peste d'uomo, che provoca sedizioni fra tutti i Giudei del mondo intero ed è un capo della setta dei Nazorei,
6 Who also hath gone about to profane the temple: whom we took, and would have judged according to our law.	6 il quale ha perfino tentato di profanare il tempio e l'abbiamo arrestato.
7 But the chief captain Lysias came upon us, and with great violence took him away out of our hands,
8 Commanding his accusers to come unto thee: by examining of whom thyself mayest take knowledge of all these things, whereof we accuse him.	8 Tu stesso, interrogandolo su tutte queste cose, potrai venire a sapere da lui la verità su ciò di cui lo accusiamo".
9 And the Jews also assented, saying that these things were so.	9 Anche i Giudei si univano a lui nell'accusa sostenendo che le cose stavano proprio così.
10 Then Paul, after that the governor had beckoned unto him to speak, answered, Forasmuch as I know that thou hast been of many years a judge unto this nation, I do the more cheerfully answer for myself:	10 Paolo, dopo che il governatore gli fece cenno di parlare, rispose: "Sapendo che da molti anni tu sei giudice di questo popolo, di buon animo io mi accingo a difendere la mia causa.
11 Because that thou mayest understand, that there are yet but twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem for to worship.	11 Tu ti puoi assicurare che non è più di dodici giorni che io sono salito a Gerusalemme per fare adorazione.
12 And they neither found me in the temple disputing with any man, neither raising up the people, neither in the synagogues, nor in the city:	12 Non mi hanno trovato né nel tempio in disputa con alcuno o a provocare subbuglio tra la folla, né dentro le sinagoghe né per la città.
13 Neither can they prove the things whereof they now accuse me.	13 Non ti possono portare le prove di ciò di cui ora mi accusano.
14 But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:	14 Anzi ti confesso che io servo al Dio dei miei padri, secondo la Via che essi chiamano setta, credendo a tutto ciò che è conforme alla legge e che è scritto nei profeti.
15 And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.	15 Ho in Dio speranza, che anch'essi condividono, che vi sarà una risurrezione dei giusti e degli iniqui.
16 And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men.	16 Perciò anch'io procuro di mantenere una coscienza irreprensibile davanti a Dio e davanti agli uomini, in ogni occasione.
17 Now after many years I came to bring alms to my nation, and offerings.	17 Dopo molti anni, io ora me ne sono venuto allo scopo di portare delle elemosine al mio popolo e di offrire dei sacrifici.
18 Whereupon certain Jews from Asia found me purified in the temple, neither with multitude, nor with tumult.	18 Così mi hanno trovato nel tempio, purificato, al di fuori di ogni assembramento o tumulto.
19 Who ought to have been here before thee, and object, if they had ought against me.	19 Furono alcuni Giudei dell'Asia a trovarmi, quelli che avrebbero dovuto ora presentarsi qui ad accusare, se avessero qualcosa contro di me.
20 Or else let these same here say, if they have found any evil doing in me, while I stood before the council,	20 O questi stessi dicano se hanno trovato qualche cosa di riprovevole quando stavo davanti al sinedrio,
21 Except it be for this one voice, that I cried standing among them, Touching the resurrection of the dead I am called in question by you this day.	21 se non questa sola parola che io ho gridato stando in mezzo a loro: "E' a motivo della risurrezione dei morti che io sono oggi in giudizio di fronte a voi".
22 And when Felix heard these things, having more perfect knowledge of that way, he deferred them, and said, When Lysias the chief captain shall come down, I will know the uttermost of your matter.	22 Allora Felice, che era perfettamente informato sulle cose riguardanti la Via, li rinviò dicendo: "Quando verrà giù il tribuno Lisia esaminerò il vostro caso".
23 And he commanded a centurion to keep Paul, and to let him have liberty, and that he should forbid none of his acquaintance to minister or come unto him.	23 E comandò al centurione di tenere Paolo prigioniero, ma di lasciargli una certa libertà e di non impedire ad alcuno dei suoi di rendergli servizio.
24 And after certain days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, which was a Jewess, he sent for Paul, and heard him concerning the faith in Christ.	24 Alcuni giorni dopo Felice venne con Drusilla sua moglie, che era giudea, fece chiamare Paolo e lo ascoltò parlare della fede nel Cristo Gesù.
25 And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.	25 Ma quando si mise a parlare di giustizia, di continenza e del giudizio futuro, Felice, spaventato, disse: "Per ora puoi andare, quando avrò un'occasione ti richiamerò".
26 He hoped also that money should have been given him of Paul, that he might loose him: wherefore he sent for him the oftener, and communed with him.	26 Sperava persino che avrebbe potuto avere del denaro da Paolo. Perciò spesso lo faceva chiamare per intrattenersi con lui.
27 But after two years Porcius Festus came into Felix' room: and Felix, willing to shew the Jews a pleasure, left Paul bound.	27 Ma, trascorsi due anni, Felice ebbe come successore Porcio Festo; e volendo far cosa gradita ai Giudei, Felice lasciò Paolo in prigione.
