Jeremías 32

BIBLIA	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 Palabra que fue dirigida a Jeremías de parte de Yahveh el año diez de Sedecías, rey de Judá - o sea, el año dieciocho de Nabucodonosor:	1 This message came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the tenth year of Zedekiah, king of Judah, the eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar.
2 A la sazón las fuerzas del rey de Babilonia sitiaban a Jerusalén, mientras el profeta Jeremías estaba detenido en el patio de la guardia de la casa del rey de Judá,	2 At that time the army of the king of Babylon was besieging Jerusalem, and the prophet Jeremiah was imprisoned in the quarters of the guard, at the king's palace.
3 donde le tenía detenido Sedecías, rey de Judá, bajo esta acusación: «¿Por qué has profetizado: Así dice Yahveh: He aquí que yo entrego esta ciudad en manos del rey de Babilonia, que la tomará,	3 Zedekiah, king of Judah, had imprisoned him there, remonstrating: "How dare you prophesy: Thus says the LORD: I am handing over this city to the king of Babylon, who will capture it.
4 y el rey de Judá, Sedecías, no escapará de manos de los caldeos, sino que será entregado sin remisión en manos del rey de Babilonia, con quien hablará boca a boca, y sus ojos se encontrarán con sus ojos,	4 Neither shall Zedekiah, king of Judah, escape the hands of the Chaldeans; rather shall he be handed over to the king of Babylon. They shall meet and speak face to face,
5 y a Babilonia llevará a Sedecías, y allí estará (hasta que yo le visite - oráculo de Yahveh. ¡Aunque luchéis con los caldeos, no triunfaréis!)»	5 and Zedekiah shall be taken to Babylon. There he shall remain, until I attend to him, says the LORD; in fighting the Chaldeans, you cannot win!"
6 Dijo Jeremías: He recibido una palabra de Yahveh que dice así:	6 This message came to me from the LORD, said Jeremiah:
7 «He aquí que Janamel, hijo de tu tío Sallum, va a dirigirse a ti diciendo: “Ea, cómprame el campo de Anatot, porque a ti te toca el derecho de rescate para comprarlo.”»	7 Hanamel, son of your uncle Shallum, will come to you with the offer: "Buy for yourself my field in Anathoth, since you, as nearest relative, have the first right of purchase."
8 Vino, pues, a mí Janamel, hijo de mi tío, conforme al dicho de Yahveh, al patio de la guardia, y me dijo: «Ea, cómprame el campo de Anatot - que cae en territorio de Benjamín - porque tuyo es el derecho de adquisición y a ti te toca el rescate. Cómpratelo». Yo reconocí en aquello la palabra de Yahveh,	8 Then, as the LORD foretold, Hanamel, my uncle's son, came to me to the quarters of the guard and said, "Please buy my field in Anathoth, in the district of Benjamin; as nearest relative, you have the first claim to possess it; make it yours." I knew this was what the LORD meant,
9 y compré a Janamel, hijo de mi tío, el campo que está en Anatot. Le pesé la plata: diecisiete siclos de plata.	9 so I bought the field in Anathoth from my cousin Hanamel, paying him the money, seventeen silver shekels.
10 Lo apunté en mi escritura, sellé, aduje testigos y pesé la plata en la balanza.	10 When I had written and sealed the deed, called witnesses and weighed out the silver on the scales,
11 Luego tomé la escritura de la compra, el documento sellado según ley y la copia abierta,	11 I accepted the deed of purchase, both the sealed copy, containing title and conditions, and the open one.
12 y pasé la escritura de la compra a Baruc, hijo de Neriyías, hijo de Majseías, a vista de mi primo Janamel y de los testigos firmantes en la escritura de la compra, y a vista de todos los judíos presentes en el patio de la guardia,	12 This deed of purchase I gave to Baruch, son of Neriah, son of Mahseiah, in the presence of my cousin Hanamel and of the witnesses who had signed the deed, and before all the men of Judah who happened to be in the quarters of the guard.
13 y a vista de todos ellos di a Baruc este encargo:	13 In their presence I gave Baruch this charge:
14 Así dice Yahveh Sebaot el Dios de Israel: Toma estas escrituras: la escritura de compra, el documento sellado y la copia abierta, y las pones en un cántaro de arcilla para que duren mucho tiempo.	14 Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Take these deeds, both the sealed and the open deed of purchase, and put them in an earthen jar, so that they can be kept there a long time.
15 Porque así dice Yahveh Sebaot el Dios de Israel: «Todavía se comprarán casas y campos y viñas en esta tierra».	15 For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Houses and fields and vineyards shall again be bought in this land.
16 Después de haber entregado la escritura de propiedad a Baruc, hijo de Neriyías, oré a Yahveh diciendo:	16 After giving the deed of purchase to Baruch, son of Neriah, I prayed thus to the LORD:
17 «¡Ay, Señor Yahveh! He aquí que tú hiciste los cielos y la tierra con tu gran poder y tenso brazo: nada es extraordinario para ti,	17 Ah, Lord GOD, you have made heaven and earth by your great might, with your outstretched arm; nothing is impossible to you.
18 el que hace merced a millares, que se cobra la culpa de los padres a costa de los hijos que les suceden, el Dios grande, el Fuerte, cuyo nombre es Yahveh Sebaot,	18 You continue your kindness through a thousand generations; and you repay the fathers' guilt, even into the lap of their sons who follow them. O God, great and mighty, whose name is LORD of hosts,
19 grande en designios y rico en recursos, que tiene los ojos fijos en la conducta de los humanos, para dar a cada uno según su conducta y el fruto de sus obras;	19 great in counsel, mighty in deed, whose eyes are open to all the ways of men, giving to each according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds:
20 tú que has obrado señales y portentos en Egipto, hasta hoy, y en Israel y en la humanidad entera, y te has hecho un nombre, como hoy se ve;	20 you have wrought signs and wonders in the land of Egypt and to this day, both in Israel and among all other men, until now you have gained renown.
21 y sacaste a tu pueblo Israel de Egipto con señales y prodigios y con mano fuerte y tenso brazo y con gran aparato,	21 With strong hand and outstretched arm you brought your people Israel out of the land of Egypt amid signs and wonders and great terror.
22 y les diste esta tierra que habías jurado darla a sus padres: tierra que mana leche y miel.	22 This land you gave them, as you had promised their fathers under oath, a land flowing with milk and honey.
23 Entraron en ella y la poseyeron, pero no hicieron caso de tu voz, ni conforme a tus leyes anduvieron: nada de lo que les mandaste hacer hicieron, y les conminaste con esta calamidad.	23 They entered and took possession of it, but they did not listen to your voice; by your law they did not live, and what you commanded they failed to do. Hence you let all these evils befall them.
24 He aquí que los terraplenes llegan a la ciudad para tomarla y la ciudad está ya a merced de los caldeos que la atacan, por causa de la espada y del hambre y de la peste; lo que habías dicho, ha sido, y tú mismo lo estás viendo.	24 See, the siegeworks have arrived at this city to breach it; the city will be handed over to the Chaldeans who are attacking it, amid sword, famine, and pestilence. What you threatened has happened, you see it yourself;
25 ¡Precisamente tú me has dicho, oh Señor Yahveh: “Cómprate el campo y aduce testigos” cuando la ciudad está entregada a manos de los caldeos!»	25 and yet you tell me, O Lord GOD: Buy the field with money, call in witnesses. But the city has already been handed over to the Chaldeans!
26 Entonces me fue dirigida la palabra de Yahveh como sigue:	26 Then this word of the LORD came to Jeremiah:
27 Mira que yo soy Yahveh, el Dios de toda carne. ¿Habrá cosa extraordinaria para mi?	27 I am the LORD, the God of all mankind! Is anything impossible to me?
28 Pues así dice Yahveh: He aquí que yo pongo esta ciudad en manos de los caldeos y en manos de Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, que la tomará,	28 This now is what the LORD says: I will hand over this city to the Chaldeans, for Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, to take.
29 y entrarán los caldeos que atacan a esta ciudad y le prenderán fuego incendiándola junto con las casas en cuyos terrados se encensaba a Baal y se libaban libaciones a otros dioses para provocarme.	29 The Chaldeans who are attacking it shall enter this city and set fire to it, burning it and its houses, on the roofs of which incense was burned to Baal and libations were poured out to strange gods as a provocation to me.
30 Porque los hijos de Israel y los hijos de Judá no han hecho otra cosa sino lo que me disguta desde sus mocedades (porque los hijos de Israel no han hecho más que provocarme con las obras de sus manos - oráculo de Yahveh -).	30 The Israelites and the Judeans from their youth have done only what is evil in my eyes; the Israelites did nothing but provoke me with the works of their hands, says the LORD.
31 Porque motivo de mi furor y de mi ira ha sido para mí esta ciudad, desde el día en que la edificaron hasta hoy, que es como para quitármela de delante,	31 From the day it was built to this day, this city has excited my anger and wrath,
32 por toda la maldad de los hijos de Israel y de los hijos de Judá, que, para provocarme, obraron ellos, sus reyes, sus jefes, sus sacerdotes y profetas, el hombre de Judá y el habitante de Jerusalén,	32 so that I must put it out of my sight for all the wickedness the Israelites and Judeans, with their kings and their princes, their priests and their prophets, the men of Judah and the citizens of Jerusalem, have done to provoke me.
33 y me volvieron la espalda, que no la cara. Yo les adoctriné asiduamente, mas ellos no quisieron aprender la lección,	33 They turned their backs to me, not their faces; though I kept teaching them, they would not listen to my correction.
34 sino que pusieron sus Monstruos abominables en la Casa que llaman por mi Nombre, profanándola,	34 They defiled the house named after me by the horrid idols they set up in it.
35 y fraguaron los altos del Baal que hay en el Valle de Ben Hinnom para hacer pasar por el fuego a sus hijos e hijas en honor del Moloc - lo que no les mandé ni me pasó por las mientes -, obrando semejante abominación con el fin de hacer pecar a Judá.	35 They built high places to Baal in the Valley of Ben-hinnom, and immolated their sons and daughters to Molech, bringing sin upon Judah; this I never commanded them, nor did it even enter my mind that they should practice such abominations.
36 Ahora, pues, en verdad así dice Yahveh, el Dios de Israel, acerca de esta ciudad que - al decir de vosotros - está ya a merced del rey de Babilonia por la espada, por el hambre y por la peste.	36 Now, therefore, thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning this city, which as you say is handed over to the king of Babylon amid sword, famine, and pestilence:
37 He aquí que yo los reúno de todos los países a donde los empujé en mi ira y mi furor y enojo grande, y les haré volver a este lugar, y les haré vivir en seguridad,	37 Behold, I will gather them together from all the lands to which in anger, wrath, and great rage I banish them; I will bring them back to this place and settle them here in safety.
38 serán mi pueblo, y yo seré su Dios;	38 They shall be my people, and I will be their God.
39 y les daré otro corazón y otro camino, de suerte que me teman todos los días para bien de ellos y de sus hijos después de ellos.	39 One heart and one way I will give them, that they may fear me always, to their own good and that of their children after them.
40 Les pactaré alianza eterna - que no revocaré después de ellos - de hacerles bien, y pondré mi temor en sus corazones, de modo que no se aparten de junto a mí;	40 I will make with them an eternal covenant, never to cease doing good to them; into their hearts I will put the fear of me, that they may never depart from me.
41 me dedicaré a hacerles bien, y los plantaré en esta tierra firmemente, con todo mi corazón y con toda mi alma.	41 I will take delight in doing good to them: I will replant them firmly in this land, with all my heart and soul.
42 Porque así dice Yahveh: Como he traído sobre este pueblo todo este gran perjuicio, así yo mismo voy a traer sobre ellos todo el beneficio que pronuncio sobre ellos,	42 For thus says the LORD: Just as I brought upon this people all this great evil, so I will bring upon them all the good I promise them.
43 y se comprarán campos en esta tierra de la que decís vosotros que es una desolación, sin personas ni ganados, y que está a merced de los caldeos;	43 Fields shall again be bought in this land, which you call a desert, without man or beast, handed over to the Chaldeans.
44 se comprarán campos con dinero, anotándose en escritura, sellándose y llamando testigos, en la tierra de Benjamín y en los contornos de Jerusalén, en las ciudades de Judá, en las de la Montaña, en las de la Tierra Baja y en las del Négueb, pues haré tornar a sus cautivos - oráculo de Yahveh -.	44 Fields shall be bought with money, deeds written and sealed, and witnesses shall be used in the land of Benjamin, in the suburbs of Jerusalem, in the cities of Judah and of the hill country, in the cities of the foothills and of the Negeb, when I change their lot, says the LORD.
