1 And responding, Jesus again spoke to them in parables, saying:	1 E respondendo Iesù, ancora li parlò in parabole, dicendo:
2 “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who was king, who celebrated a wedding for his son.	2 Simile è il regno del cielo a uno uomo re, che fece convito a uno suo figliuolo.
3 And he sent his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding. But they were not willing to come.	3 E mandò li servi suoi a quelli ch' erano invitati, che venissero al convito; ma loro non volsero venire.
4 Again, he sent other servants, saying, ‘Tell the invited: Behold, I have prepared my meal. My bulls and fatlings have been killed, and all is ready. Come to the wedding.’	4 Ed egli ancora vi rimandò altri servi, e disse loro: (andate e) dicete alli invitati, che il desinare mio è apparecchiato, e li tauri e le salvaticine sono uccise; e però ditegli che vengano alle nozze.
5 But they ignored this and they went away: one to his country estate, and another to his business.	5 Ma egli non volseno venire; anzi alcuni di loro n' andorono in villa, e alcuni andorono a fare altri loro fatti.
6 Yet truly, the rest took hold of his servants and, having treated them with contempt, killed them.	6 E alcuni altri ritenneno li servi suoi, e con vergogna e con li strazii li uccisero.
7 But when the king heard this, he was angry. And sending out his armies, he destroyed those murderers, and he burned their city.	7 E udendo queste cose, il re adirossi molto; e mandò lo esercito suo, e fece uccidere e distruggere quelli uomini, e le loro cittadi fece ardere.
8 Then he said to his servants: ‘The wedding, indeed, has been prepared. But those who were invited were not worthy.	8 E poi disse alli suoi servi: le nozze sono pur apparecchiate, ma quelli che furono invitati non erano degni di esservi.
9 Therefore, go out to the ways, and call whomever you will find to the wedding.’	9 E però vi dico che andate ad ogni uscita di via, e chiunque trovate, menateli alle nozze.
10 And his servants, departing into the ways, gathered all those whom they found, bad and good, and the wedding was filled with guests.	10 Allora li servi andorono, e radunorono quaJunque trovorono, buoni e rei; intanto che alle nozze (furono tanti mangiatori che) tutti li luoghi furono pieni.
11 Then the king entered to see the guests. And he saw a man there who was not clothed in a wedding garment.	11 Allora il re entrò per vedere coloro che mangiavano, e vide uno che non avea vestimento di nozze.
12 And he said to him, ‘Friend, how is it that you have entered here without having a wedding garment?’ But he was dumbstruck.	12 Al qual disse: amico, come se' tu entrato qua dentro alle nozze, chè non abi il vestimento nuziale? E quello tacette (e non fece motto).
13 Then the king said to the ministers: ‘Bind his hands and feet, and cast him into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.	13 Allora disse il re legateli le mani e li piedi, e ponetelo nelle tenebre di sotto, dove è pianto e stridore di denti.
14 For many are called, but few are chosen.’ ”	14 Ma molti sono chiamati, ma pochi sono eletti.
15 Then the Pharisees, going out, took counsel as to how they might entrap him in speech.	15 Allora si radunorono li Farisei insieme; e fecero consiglio, in che modo potessero comprendere Iesù nel parlare.
16 And they sent their disciples to him, with the Herodians, saying: “Teacher, we know that you are truthful, and that you teach the way of God in truth, and that the influence of others is nothing to you. For you do not consider the reputation of men.	16 E mandorono li discepoli loro con la famiglia d' Erode, e dissero: Maestro, noi sapemo che tu se' verace uomo, e la via vera ch' è di Dio insegni, e non guardi più a una persona che a una altra.
17 Therefore, tell us, how does it seem to you? Is it lawful to pay the census tax to Caesar, or not?”	17 Adunque di' a noi, se ti pare a dare censo a Cesare, e se è lecito o non.
18 But Jesus, knowing their wickedness, said: “Why do you test me, you hypocrites?	18 E Iesù, conoscendo loro iniquità, disse: o ipocriti, perchè mi tentate?
19 Show me the coin of the census tax.” And they offered him a denarius.	19 Mostratemi la moneta del censo. E quelli la mostrorono.
20 And Jesus said to them, “Whose image is this, and whose inscription?”	20 E Iesù li domandò: di cui è questa imagine e questa soprascritta?
21 They said to him, “Caesar’s.” Then he said to them, “Then render to Caesar what is of Caesar; and to God what is of God.”	21 Ed egli dissero di Cesare. E Iesù disse a loro: quello ch' è di Cesare, datelo a Cesare, e quello ch' è di Dio, datelo a Dio.
22 And hearing this, they wondered. And having left him behind, they went away.	22 E udendo maravigliaronsi; e lasciato quello, partironsi.
23 In that day, the Sadducees, who say there is to be no resurrection, approached him. And they questioned him,	23 In quel giorno andorono a lui li Sadducei, li quali dicono non essere la resurrezione, e addomandoronlo,
24 saying: “Teacher, Moses said: If anyone will have died, having no son, his brother shall marry his wife, and he shall raise up offspring to his brother.	24 dicendo: Maestro, Moisè disse: se alcuno morirà non avendo figliuolo, che il suo fratello togli sua mogliere, e susciti il seme al suo fratello.
25 Now there were seven brothers with us. And the first, having taken a wife, died. And having no offspring, he left his wife to his brother:	25 E appresso di noi erano sette fratelli; e il primo, menata ch' egli ebbe la moglie, lui moritte; e non avendo seme, lasciò la mogliere sua al fratello suo.
26 similarly with the second, and the third, even to the seventh.	26 E similmente il secondo, e il terzo, insino al settimo.
27 And last of all, the woman also passed away.	27 Ultimamente etiam la femina è morta.
28 In the resurrection, then, whose wife of the seven will she be? For they all had her.”	28 Nella resurrezione adunque di cui sarà mogliere, de' sette fratelli? imperò che ciascuno l'ha avuta.
29 But Jesus responded to them by saying: “You have gone astray by knowing neither the Scriptures, nor the power of God.	29 Respondendo Iesù sì li disse: voi errate, non sapendo le Scritture, nè etiam la virtù di Dio.
30 For in the resurrection, they shall neither marry, nor be given in marriage. Instead, they shall be like the Angels of God in heaven.	30 Onde nella resurrezione non mariteranno nè saranno maritate; ma sono a modo delli angioli di Dio in cielo.
31 But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken by God, saying to you:	31 Non avete leggiuto, della resurrezione dei morti essere detto da Dio:
32 ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?’ He is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”	32 Io son Dio di Abraam, Dio di Isaac, e Dio di Iacob? Egli non è Dio de' morti, ma de' 'viventi.
33 And when the crowds heard this, they wondered at his doctrine.	33 E udendo le turbe, maravigliavansi nella sua dottrina.
34 But the Pharisees, hearing that he had caused the Sadducees to be silent, came together as one.	34 Ma udendo li Farisei che Iesù (non) avea posto silenzio alli Sadducei, radunoronsi insieme.
35 And one of them, a doctor of the law, questioned him, to test him:	35 E uno de' loro dottori della legge, volendolo tentare, domandogli e disse:
36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?”	36 Maestro, qual è nella legge il maggior comandamento?
37 Jesus said to him: “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God from all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your mind.’	37 E Iesù li disse: ama il tuo Signore Iddio con tutto il tuo cuore e con tutta l'anima tua.
38 This is the greatest and first commandment.	38 E questo è il grande e maggiore comandamento, ed è il primo comandamento.
39 But the second is similar to it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’	39 E il secondo è simile a questo: ama il prossimo tuo sì come te medesimo.
40 On these two commandments the entire law depends, and also the prophets.”	40 E in questi duo comandamenti dipende tutta la legge e li profeti.
41 Then, when the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus questioned them,	41 E in questo radunoronsi li Farisei, e Iesù domandogli,
42 saying: “What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is he?” They said to him, “David’s.”	42 e disse: di cui vi pare che Cristo sia figliuolo? Ed egli (risposero e) dissero: di David.
43 He said to them: “Then how can David, in the Spirit, call him Lord, saying:	43 Dissegli Iesù: come adunque David chiamò in spirito lo Signore, e dice:
44 ‘The Lord said to my Lord: Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool?’	44 Disse il Signore al Signore mio: siedi dal lato diritto mio, insino a tanto ch' io ponga li tuoi inimici per scabello de' tuoi piedi?
45 So then, if David calls him Lord, how can he be his son?”	45 Se adunque David chiamò lui Signore, com'è egli suo figliuolo?
46 And no one was able to respond to him a word. And neither did anyone dare, from that day forward, to question him.	46 E niuno non gli sapeva rispondere parola; e d'allora innanzi niuno fu ardito addomandarli di nulla.
