Prima Epistola di Santo Paulo alli Tessalonicesi 4

1 Fratelli, da ora inanzi preghiamo voi, per amore di Iesù Cristo, che voi andiate sì come voi foste ammaestrati da noi, (sapete) come vi conviene. andare e piacere a Dio; e così andiate, che maggiormente cresciate.	1 Final y, brothers, we urge you and appeal to you in the Lord Jesus; we instructed you how to live in theway that pleases God, and you are so living; but make more progress stil .
2 Voi sapete quelli comandamenti che io diedi a voi per Iesù Cristo.	2 You are well aware of the instructions we gave you on the authority of the Lord Jesus.
3 Chè per certo questa è la volontà di Dio, la vostra santificazione: che voi v' astegnate dalla fornicazione;	3 God wil s you al to be holy. He wants you to keep away from sexual immorality,
4 che ciascuno sappia possedere il suo vasello in purità e in onore,	4 and each one of you to know how to control his body in a way that is holy and honourable,
5 e non in passione di desiderio (e dilettanza), sì come fanno le genti le quali non conoscono Dio;	5 not giving way to selfish lust like the nations who do not acknowledge God.
6 che niuno non trapassi troppo inanzi, e che niuno inganni il suo fratello in alcuna faccenda; chè il Signore è vendicatore di tutte queste cose, sì come noi dicemmo a voi dinanzi, e testificammo.	6 He wants nobody at al ever to sin by taking advantage of a brother in these matters; the Lord alwayspays back sins of that sort, as we told you before emphatical y.
7 Chè Dio non chiamò noi alle sozzure, ma (chiamò in purità, e) perchè diventassimo santi.	7 God cal ed us to be holy, not to be immoral;
8 Adunque quello, che sì fae in dispetto queste cose, non ne schifa uomo, ma Dio; il quale dètte a noi il suo Spirito Santo.	8 in other words, anyone who rejects this is rejecting not human authority, but God, who gives you hisHoly Spirit.
9 Della carità della fraternità non è bisogno scrivere a voi; chè voi medesimi avete impreso da Dio, come voi vi dovete amare insieme.	9 As for brotherly love, there is no need to write to you about that, since you have yourselves learnt fromGod to love one another,
10 Imperò che voi lo mettete in opera in tutti li fratelli li quali son in Macedonia. Preghiamo voi, fratelli, che voi abbondiate,	10 and in fact this is how you treat al the brothers throughout the whole of Macedonia. However, we dourge you, brothers, to go on making even greater progress
11 e che voi diate opera, che possiate stare in quiete, e che facciate li vostri fatti, e operiate colle vostre mani, come noi vi comandammo; e (pregovi ancora,) che voi andiate onestamente verso coloro che son di fuori, e non desideriate alcuna cosa d'altrui.	11 and to make a point of living quietly, attending to your own business and earning your living, just as wetold you to,
12 Fratelli, noi volemo che voi sappiate di coloro che dormono, chè non vi contristiate, (sì come egli fossero morti), sì come si contristano coloro che non hanno speranza (dell' altro mondo).	12 so that you may earn the respect of outsiders and not be dependent on anyone.
13 Chè per certo, se noi credemo che Iesù fosse morto e ch' egli resuscitasse, così Dio adducerà con Iesù coloro che dormirono in lui.	13 We want you to be quite certain, brothers, about those who have fallen asleep, to make sure that youdo not grieve for them, as others do who have no hope.
14 E questo diciamo a voi nella parola di Dio; chè noi che vivemo, e che siamo rimasi nell' avvemento del Signore, non andaremo inanzi a quelli che dormirono.	14 We believe that Jesus died and rose again, and that in the same way God wil bring with him thosewho have fallen asleep in Jesus.
15 Imperò che il Signore medesimo (verrà) con comandamento, e colla voce dell' arcangelo, e con la tuba di Dio, discenderà de' cieli; e li morti, li quali son in Cristo (passati), resusciteranno in prima.	15 We can tell you this from the Lord's own teaching, that we who are stil alive for the Lord's coming willnot have any advantage over those who have fallen asleep.
16 Poi noi che vivemo, li quali siamo lasciati, insieme saremo pigliati (radunati) con coloro nelle nuvole incontro a Cristo nell' aria; e così sempre saremo (e staremo insieme) col Signore.	16 At the signal given by the voice of the Archangel and the trumpet of God, the Lord himself wil comedown from heaven; those who have died in Christ wil be the first to rise,
17 Adunque consolatevi insieme con queste parole.	17 and only after that shall we who remain alive be taken up in the clouds, together with them, to meetthe Lord in the air. This is the way we shall be with the Lord for ever.
	18 With such thoughts as these, then, you should encourage one another.
