BIBBIA VOLGARE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Adunque noi, che siamo giustificati per la fede, abbiamo pace a Dio per il nostro Signore Iesù Cristo.	1 So then, now that we have been justified by faith, we are at peace with God through our Lord JesusChrist;
2 Per il qual noi avemo via per fede in questa grazia, nella quale noi stiamo, e avemo allegrezza nella speranza della gloria de' figliuoli di Dio.	2 it is through him, by faith, that we have been admitted into God's favour in which we are living, andlook forward exultantly to God's glory.
3 E ancora avemo allegrezza nelle tribulazioni, sapendo che la tribulazione adopera pazienza,	3 Not only that; let us exult, too, in our hardships, understanding that hardship develops perseverance,
4 la pazienza la probazione, e la probazione la speranza.	4 and perseverance develops a tested character, something that gives us hope,
5 Ma la speranza non si vergogna, perchè la carità di Dio è messa ne' nostri cuori per lo Spirito Santo, il quale è dato a noi.	5 and a hope which will not let us down, because the love of God has been poured into our hearts by theHoly Spirit which has been given to us.
6 Perchè fu Cristo per noi morto, essendo noi infermi, e molto peccatori?	6 When we were stil helpless, at the appointed time, Christ died for the godless.
7 Chè a pena vole altri morire per il giusto; e per il buono (non) si ardisce altri morire.	7 You could hardly find anyone ready to die even for someone upright; though it is just possible that, fora real y good person, someone might undertake to die.
8 E in questo magnificò Dio la sua (grande) carità in noi; imperò che essendo noi ancora peccatori,	8 So it is proof of God's own love for us, that Christ died for us while we were stil sinners.
9 Cristo per noi fu morto: adunque ora che siamo giustificati nel suo sangue, molto maggiormente saremo salvati dall' ira per lui.	9 How much more can we be sure, therefore, that, now that we have been justified by his death, we shalbe saved through him from the retribution of God.
10 Chè se noi fummo riconciliati a Dio per la morte del suo Figliuolo, essendo noi inimici, molto maggiormente riconciliati, [saremo salvi] nella vita del suo Figliuolo.	10 For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, how muchmore can we be sure that, being now reconciled, we shal be saved by his life.
11 E però avemo allegrezza in Dio per il nostro Signore Iesù Cristo, per il quale ricevemmo salvazione.	11 What is more, we are filled with exultant trust in God, through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whomwe have already gained our reconciliation.
12 E secondo che per uno uomo il peccato è entrato in questo mondo, e per lo peccato entrò la morte, e così in gli uomini trapassò la morte, e tutti diventarono peccatori, (e così per uno Cristo entrò la giustizia, e per la giustizia entrò la vita per tutti affatto li giusti).	12 Wel then; it was through one man that sin came into the world, and through sin death, and thus deathhas spread through the whole human race because everyone has sinned.
13 E insino alla legge (di Moisè) il peccato stava (nascoso) in questo mondo; e non apprezzava l'uomo il peccato, quando la legge non era.	13 Sin already existed in the world before there was any law, even though sin is not reckoned whenthere is no law.
14 E (imperò) regnò la morte da Adamo insino a Moisè, eziandio sopra coloro che non peccarono, a similitudine del prevaricamento d' Adamo, il quale fu figura di quello (Adamo maggiore) il quale doveva venire, (cioè Cristo).	14 Nonetheless death reigned over al from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sin was not thebreaking of a commandment, as Adam's was. He prefigured the One who was to come . . .
15 Ma non è così il dono (di Cristo) come il peccato (d' Adamo); chè se per il peccato d' uno molti sono morti, molto maggiormente la grazia di Dio e il dono nella grazia d' uno uomo Iesù Cristo abbondò in molti.	15 There is no comparison between the free gift and the offence. If death came to many through theoffence of one man, how much greater an effect the grace of God has had, coming to so many and so plentiful yas a free gift through the one man Jesus Christ!
16 E non come per uno peccato, così per il dono; imperò che il giudicio e la grazia di Iesù Cristo fu perdonamento di molti peccati.	16 Again, there is no comparison between the gift and the offence of one man. One single offencebrought condemnation, but now, after many offences, have come the free gift and so acquittal!
17 E ancora [se] per il peccato di una persona la morte regnò nel mondo, molto maggiormente ricevendo l'abbondanza di grazia, di denamento e di giustizia, regnerà la vita per uno Iesù Cristo.	17 It was by one man's offence that death came to reign over all, but how much greater the reign in lifeof those who receive the ful ness of grace and the gift of saving justice, through the one man, Jesus Christ.
18 Adunque come che per il peccato d' una persona regnò la morte in tutti gli uomini per condannagione, così per la giustizia d'uno regnerà la vita in tutti gli uomini.	18 One man's offence brought condemnation on al humanity; and one man's good act has broughtjustification and life to all humanity.
19 Per inobbedienza [d'uno] siamo diventati tutti peccatori, e così per l' obbedienza d' uno diventiamo molti giusti.	19 Just as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by one man's obedience are manyto be made upright.
20 Ma la legge sottoentrò perchè abbondasse il peccato; e in quello luogo abbondò la grazia, dove abbondò il peccato,	20 When law came on the scene, it was to multiply the offences. But however much sin increased, gracewas always greater;
21 acciò che secondo che il peccato regnò nella morte, così la grazia regni per la giustizia nella vita eterna, per Iesù Cristo nostro Signore.	21 so that as sin's reign brought death, so grace was to rule through saving justice that leads to eternallife through Jesus Christ our Lord.
