1 E compiti li dì della Pentecoste (cioè la pasca, che li giudei facevano per memoria della legge data loro nel deserto), ed essendo loro tutti insieme nel cenacolo predetto,	1 And when the days of Pentecost were completed, they were all together in the same place.
2 ecco incontanente venire dal cielo uno suono (e uno buffo) come d' uno grande vento, e riempitte tutta la casa là dove egli (erano e) sedevano.	2 And suddenly, there came a sound from heaven, like that of a wind approaching violently, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting.
3 E apparvero a quegli le lingue dispartite a modo di fuoco, e sedettero sopra ciascuno di loro.	3 And there appeared to them separate tongues, as if of fire, which settled upon each one of them.
4 E furono riempiuti di Spirito Santo, e cominciarono a parlare in varie lingue, come il Spirito Santo concedette loro.	4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. And they began to speak in various languages, just as the Holy Spirit bestowed eloquence to them.
5 E (in quello tempo) erano abitanti in Ierusalem Giudei, uomini religiosi (di diverse lingue e) d' ogni generazione ch' è sotto il cielo, (cioè ch' erano nati per diverse contrade).	5 Now there were Jews staying in Jerusalem, pious men from every nation that is under heaven.
6 Onde udendo gli apostoli predicare, raunaronsi di loro grande moltitudine; e maravigliandosi stavano stupefatti, udendoli parlare (in così diverse lingue) sì che ciascuno li intendea nella sua lingua.	6 And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together and was confused in mind, because each one was listening to them speaking in his own language.
7 E così meravigliandosi, dicevano (insieme): or non sono costoro, che parlano, di Galilea?	7 Then all were astonished, and they wondered, saying: “Behold, are not all of these who are speaking Galileans?
8 E come adunque abbiamo udito parlare nella lingua nostra, nella quale ciascuno di noi è nato?	8 And how is it that we have each heard them in our own language, into which we were born?
9 Chè ecco che Parti e Medi ed Elamiti, e quelli che àbitano in Mesopotamia e in Iudea e in Cappadocia e in Ponto e in Asia,	9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites, and those who inhabit Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,
10 e in Frigia e in Panfilia e in Egitto e nelle parti di Libia, la quale è appresso a Cirene, e avventizi Romani,	10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya which are around Cyrene, and new arrivals of the Romans,
11 Giudei e proseliti, e quelli di Creta e di Arabia, gli abbiamo uditi parlare in nostre lingue (molte grandi e) magnifiche cose di Dio.	11 likewise Jews and new converts, Cretans and Arabs: we have heard them speaking in our own languages the mighty deeds of God.”
12 E meravigliandosi così di ciò, disseno alcuni: or che cosa è questa?	12 And they were all astonished, and they wondered, saying to one another: “But what does this mean?”
13 Alcuni altri se ne facevano beffe, e dicevano ch' egli erano (ebbri e) pieni di mosto.	13 But others mockingly said, “These men are full of new wine.”
14 Per le quali parole acceso Santo Piero di grande zelo, levossi (a predicare) e disse con grande voce sappiate tutti voi, uomini di Giudea, li quali abitate in Ierusalem,	14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and he spoke to them: “Men of Judea, and all those who are staying in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and incline your ears to my words.
15 che questi (che prèdicano con le varie lingue) non sono ebrii, come voi dite, imperò che non è ancora più che terza.	15 For these men are not inebriated, as you suppose, for it is the third hour of the day.
16 Ma questo è quel che profetò il profeta Ioel.	16 But this is what was spoken of by the prophet Joel:
17 Il quale disse, che nelli novissimi dì il Signore infunderà del suo Santo Spirito sopra ogni carne (cioè maschi o femine), e profeteranno li vostri figliuoli e le vostre figliuole; e' vostri gioveni vederanno (molte) visioni, e li vostri (antichi e) seniori averanno (molti segni e) sogni.	17 ‘And this shall be: in the last days, says the Lord, I will pour out, from my Spirit, upon all flesh. And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy. And your youths shall see visions, and your elders shall dream dreams.
18 (E poi ancora dice in persona di Dio): per certo in quelli [di] infunderò del mio Spirito sopra li servi miei e sopra l' ancille mie, e profetaranno.	18 And certainly, upon my men and women servants in those days, I will pour out from my Spirit, and they shall prophesy.
19 E mostrerò (segni e) prodigii e di sopra in cielo e di giù in terra, cioè sangue e fuoco e vapore di fumo.	19 And I will bestow wonders in heaven above, and signs on earth below: blood and fire and the vapor of smoke.
20 Il sole convertirassi in tenebre, e la luna in sangue, inanzi che venga il dì del Signore grande e manifesto.	20 The sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, before the great and manifest day of the Lord arrives.
21 Ma ciascuno che invocherà il nome del Signore (Dio), sarà salvo.	21 And this shall be: whoever shall invoke the name of the Lord will be saved.’
22 Udite adunque (tutti) queste mie parole, voi tutti uomini d' Israel: Iesù Nazareno, uomo approvato da Dio in voi, per molte virtù, segni e meraviglie che Dio fece per lui in mezzo di voi, come voi sapete,	22 Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus the Nazarene is a man confirmed by God among you through the miracles and wonders and signs that God accomplished through him in your midst, just as you also know.
23 per definito consiglio, tradito (e preso) per mano delli uomini iniqui, crucifiggeste e uccideste.	23 This man, under the definitive plan and foreknowledge of God, was delivered by the hands of the unjust, afflicted, and put to death.
24 Ma Dio lo suscitò', e liberollo dalli dolori dell' inferno; però che impossibile cosa era che l' inferno il potesse tenere,	24 And he whom God has raised up has broken the sorrows of Hell, for certainly it was impossible for him to be held by it.
25 come si mostra per la profezia di David profeta, per la quale dice così in sua persona: provedeva Dio nel mio conspetto sempre, però che (sempre) egli è a me dal lato ritto, acciò ch' io non mi commuova.	25 For David said about him: ‘I foresaw the Lord always in my sight, for he is at my right hand, so that I may not be moved.
26 Però il cuore mio è dilatato, e la mia lingua s' allegrò; la mia carne si riposerà in speranza.	26 Because of this, my heart has rejoiced, and my tongue has exulted. Moreover, my flesh shall also rest in hope.
27 Però che tu (Dio) non lasserai l'anima mia nell' inferno, e non permetterai che il tuo Santo (figliuolo) veda (nè senta) corruzione.	27 For you will not abandon my soul to Hell, nor will you allow your Holy One to see corruption.
28 E ha' mi fatto conoscere le vie della vita; e riempira'mi di giocondità con la faccia tua.	28 You have made known to me the ways of life. You will completely fill me with happiness by your presence.’
29 Uomini fratelli miei, siami lecito di parlarvi arditamento del patriarca David, cioè che moritte e fu sepellito, e il suo sepolcro è appresso di noi insino al dì d' oggi.	29 Noble brothers, permit me to speak freely to you about the Patriarch David: for he passed away and was buried, and his sepulcher is with us, even to this very day.
30 Conciosia cosa adunque ch' el fusse profeta, e conoscesse (e provedesse) che Dio gli aveva giurato e promesso, ch' egli farebbe sedere sopra la sua sedia del frutto del ventre suo,	30 Therefore, he was a prophet, for he knew that God had sworn an oath to him about the fruit of his loins, about the One who would sit upon his throne.
31 (cioè dico: prevedendo, disse le predette parole, e) predisse della resurrezione di Cristo, in ciò che dice che non fu derelitto nell' inferno, e che la sua carne non vide corruzione.	31 Foreseeing this, he was speaking about the Resurrection of the Christ. For he was neither left behind in Hell, nor did his flesh see corruption.
32 Questo dico di Iesù Cristo, che Dio Padre lo suscitò, e noi tutti (il vedemmo e) siamo testimonii.	32 This Jesus, God raised up again, and of this we are all witnesses.
33 Per la mano diritta di Dio adunque (così resuscitato, e poi) al cielo levato, esso ha mandato il suo Spirito Santo sopra di noi, come voi vedete, secondo ch' egli in prima promesso avea.	33 Therefore, being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the Promise of the Holy Spirit, he poured this out, just as you now see and hear.
34 Onde David profeta il mostrò nel salmo, quando dice: disse il Signore al Signor mio, (cioè: Dio Padre disse a Cristo): siedi alla parte diritta mia,	34 For David did not ascend into heaven. But he himself said: ‘The Lord said to my Lord: Sit at my right hand,
35 insino che io ponerò li tuoi inimici per scabello de' tuoi piedi, (cioè a dire, che per la gloria della sua ascensione gli suoi inimici gli sono umiliati e sottoposti).	35 until I make your enemies your footstool.’
36 Certissimamente adunque conosca tutta la gente d' Israel, che Dio Padre il suo figliuolo Iesù Cristo fece Signore (e re e sacerdote delli suoi fedeli), il quale voi (ingiustamente) crucifiggeste.	36 Therefore, may the entire house of Israel know most certainly that God has made this same Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”
37 Le quali parole coloro udendo, furono compunti di cuore, e dissero a Pietro e agli altri apostoli che faremo, o uomini fratelli nostri?	37 Now when they had heard these things, they were contrite in heart, and they said to Peter and to the other Apostles: “What should we do, noble brothers?”
38 E Pietro rispose loro: fate penitenza, e battezzisi ciascuno di voi nel nome di Iesù Cristo, in remissione de' vostri peccati; e riceverete il dono del Spirito Santo.	38 Yet truly, Peter said to them: “Do penance; and be baptized, each one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of your sins. And you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39 Perciò che a voi e a' vostri figliuoli fu fatta questa promissione, ed eziandio a tutti quantunque strani e a lungi (e per luogo e per amistà), li quali il nostro Signore s' ha degnato di chiamare a sè.	39 For the Promise is for you and for your sons, and for all who are far away: for whomever the Lord our God will have called.”
40 E per queste e per molte altre parole (simili a queste, Pietro) rendette testimonio (di Cristo), e confortava li suoi auditori, dicendo: salvatevi (e guardatevi) da questa prava generazione.	40 And then, with very many other words, he testified and he exhorted them, saying, “Save yourselves from this depraved generation.”
41 Onde molti, ricevendo li suoi sermoni, credettero; e battezzaronsi ben tre milia persone.	41 Therefore, those who accepted his discourse were baptized. And about three thousand souls were added on that day.
42 Ed erano perse eranti nella dottrina degli apostoli, e nella comunione della frazione del pane (cioè del corpo di Cristo), e nelle orazioni.	42 Now they were persevering in the doctrine of the Apostles, and in the communion of the breaking of the bread, and in the prayers.
43 Di che ogni gente venne quasi in uno (stupore e) timore; e molti segni e maraviglie per li apostoli si facevano in Ierusalem.	43 And fear developed in every soul. Also, many miracles and signs were accomplished by the Apostles in Jerusalem. And there was a great awe in everyone.
44 E tutti quegli che credevano, erano insieme, e avevano ogni loro cosa in comune.	44 And then all who believed were together, and they held all things in common.
45 Ma le possessioni vendevano, e dividevano il prezzo, secondo che a ciascuno era di bisogno.	45 They were selling their possessions and belongings, and dividing them to all, just as any of them had need.
46 E ogni dì si congregavano insieme al tempio a orare con grande unità e perseveranza, e (poi andavano dando e) distribuendo il pane per le case (delli fedeli, ed egli) prendevano quello era dato con allegrezza e simplicità di cuore,	46 Also, they continued, daily, to be of one accord in the temple and to break bread among the houses; and they took their meals with exultation and simplicity of heart,
47 lodando Dio e avendo la grazia di tutta la gente. E il Signore moltiplicava continuamente (in virtù e in grazia) quegli che si facevano salvi.	47 praising God greatly, and holding favor with all the people. And every day, the Lord increased those who were being saved among them.
