BIBBIA VOLGARE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Andarono le figlie di Salfaad, figliuolo di Efer, figliuolo di Galaad, figliuolo di Machir, figliuolo di Manasse, che fu figliuolo di Iosef; delle quali questi sono i nomi: Maala Noa ed Egla e Melca e Tersa.	1 There then came forward the daughters of Zelophehad son of Hepher, son of Gilead, son of Machir,son of Manasseh; he belonged to the clans of Manasseh son of Joseph. His daughters' names were Mahlah,Noah, Hoglah, Milcah and Tirzah.
2 E istettero in presenza di Moisè e di Elea zaro sacerdote e di tutti i principi del popolo, dinanzi alla porta del tabernacolo del patto, e dissero:	2 They appeared before Moses, the priest Eleazar, the leaders and the whole community, at theentrance to the Tent of Meeting, and said,
3 Il padre nostro sì è morto nel deserto, e non fue in quello consiglio il quale fece Core contro Iddio, ma morio per suo peccato e di sua morte. Costui non ebbe figliuoli maschi. Per quale cagione si è tolto il nome suo della sua famiglia? Però benchè non avesse figliuoli maschii, dateci le possessioni fra i cognati del padre nostro (e a lui succediamo per eredità).	3 'Our father died in the desert. He was not a member of the party who banded together againstYahweh, Korah's party; it was for his own sin that he died without sons.
4 Riferì Moisè la causa di queste donne allo giudicio del Signore.	4 Why should our father's name be lost to his clan? Since he had no son, give us some property likeour father's kinsmen.'
5 Lo quale disse a lui:	5 Moses took their case before Yahweh,
6 La dimanda delle figliuole di Salfaad è giusta; dà a loro possessione fra li cognati del padre suo, e a lui succedano in eredità.	6 and Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,
7 Ai figliuoli d'Israel parla queste parole:	7 'Zelophehad's daughters are right in what they say. You will indeed give them a property to be theirheritage among their father's kinsmen; see that their father's heritage is passed on to them.
8 L'uomo che morrà senza figliuolo, alla sua figliuola rimarrà la sua eredità.	8 Then speak to the Israelites and say, "If a man dies without sons, his heritage wil pass to hisdaughter.
9 E se figliuola non avesse, date la eredità ai suoi fratelli.	9 If he has no daughter, the heritage will go to his brothers.
10 E se fratelli non avesse, datela a' fratelli del padre suo.	10 If he has no brothers, his heritage wil go to his father's brothers.
11 E se sanza tutti questi la rimane, datela ai più prossimi parenti. E questa sarà la sua legge santa, perpetuale ai figliuoli d'Israel, secondo che Iddio comandò a Moisè.	11 If his father has no brothers, his heritage wil go to the member of his clan who is most nearlyrelated; it wil become his property. This will be a legal rule for the Israelites, as Yahweh has ordered Moses." '
12 E disse Iddio a Moisè: sali sopra questo monte Abarim, e ragguarda la terra ch' io debbo dare ai figliuoli d'Israel.	12 Yahweh said to Moses, 'Climb this mountain of the Abarim range, and look at the country which Ihave given to the Israelites.
13 E quando tu l'avrai veduta, anderai tu, come andò Aaron tuo fratello, al popolo tuo.	13 After you have seen it, you will be gathered to your people, as Aaron your brother was.
14 Perciò che tu mi offendesti nello deserto di Sin in contraddizione della moltitudine, nè volestimi santificare in presenza loro sopra l'acqua. E queste sono l'acque della contraddizione in Cades dello deserto di Sin.	14 For you both rebel ed in the desert of Zin when the community disputed with me and when I orderedyou to assert my holiness before their eyes by means of the water.' (These were the Waters of Meribah ofKadesh, in the desert of Zin.)
15 E Moisè rispuose:	15 Moses then said to Yahweh,
16 Proveggia Iddio lo spirito d'ogni carne, e uno uomo che sia sopra questa moltitudine,	16 'May it please Yahweh, God of the spirits that give life to al living creatures, to appoint a leader forthis community,
17 e che possa entrare e uscire [innanzi] a loro, e menargli e conservargli; e non sia il popolo di Dio come pecore, le quali non hanno pastore.	17 to be at their head in all their undertakings, a man who wil lead them out and bring them in, so thatYahweh's community wil not be like sheep without a shepherd.'
18 E Iddio dissegli: togli Iosuè figliuolo di Nun, uomo nel quale si è lo spirito di Dio; e poni la tua mano sopra di lui.	18 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Take Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom the spirit dwel s, and lay yourhand on him.
19 Ed egli starà in presenza di Eleazaro sacerdote, e di tutta la moltitudine.	19 Bring him before the priest Eleazar and the whole community and give him your orders in theirpresence,
20 E daraigli i comandamenti in presenza d'ogni persona, e parte della gloria tua, acciò che l'oda ogni sinagoga del popolo d'Israel.	20 conferring some of your own authority on him, so that the whole community of Israelites wil obeyhim.
21 E se per lui sarà di fare alcuna cosa, Eleazaro sacerdote orerà a Dio. Alla sua parola entrerà e uscirà, e anco lui, e tutto il popolo d'Israel con lui, e l'altra moltitudine.	21 He wil present himself to the priest Eleazar who wil consult Yahweh on his behalf by means of therite of the urim; at his command, they wil go out and, at his command, they will come in, he and all the Israeliteswith him, the whole community.'
22 E fece Moisè secondo che Iddio gli comandò. Chiamato che ebbe (Moisè) Iosuè, in presenza di Eleazaro sacerdote e di tutto il popolo,	22 Moses did as Yahweh had ordered. He took Joshua, brought him before the priest Eleazar and thewhole community,
23 puosegli la mano in capo, e disse tutte quelle cose che Iddio gli avea comandato.	23 laid his hands on him and gave him his orders, as Yahweh had directed through Moses.
