Ieremia 44

BIBBIA VOLGARE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 La parola, che fu detta a Ieremia e a tutti li giudei che abitavano nella terra d' Egitto, abitanti in Magdalo e in Tafnis e in Memfis e in terra Fatures, dicendo:	1 The word that came to Jeremiah for al the Judaeans living in Egypt, those, that is, living in Migdol,Tahpanhes, Noph and the territory of Pathros.
2 Questo dice lo Signore Iddio delli esèrciti, Iddio d' Israel: voi avete veduto tutto lo male ch' io ho addotto sopra Ierusalem, e sopra tutte le terre di Giuda; ecco, che son oggi deserte, e non è chi v' abiti,	2 'Yahweh Sabaoth, God of Israel, says this, "You have seen al the disaster I have brought onJerusalem and all the towns of Judah; today they lie in ruins and uninhabited.
3 per la malizia ch' egli feciono acciò ch' egli mi provocassono li iddi stranii i quali egli non conosceano, egli e li vostri padri e voi.	3 This was because of the wicked deeds they committed to provoke my anger, by going and offeringincense and serving other gods whom neither they, nor you, nor your ancestors knew anything about,
4 E mandai a voi tutti i miei servi profeti, levandosi di notte, e mandando e dicendo: non vogliate fare parola d'abominazione così fatta	4 although I urgently and untiringly sent you al my servants the prophets to say: You must not do thisloathsome thing, which I hate.
5 E non udirono, e non inchinarono le loro orecchie, per che si convertissono da' loro mali, e non sacrificassono alli iddii istranii.	5 But they would not listen or pay attention, and turn from their wickedness and stop offering incense toother gods.
6 E soperchiò la mia indignazione; e lo mio furore è acceso nelle città di Giuda e nelle piazze di Ierusalem; e sono rivolte in solitudine e in guasto	6 And so my furious anger overflowed, burning down the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem,which were reduced to ruins and wasteland, as they stil are today.
7 E ora questo dice lo Signore (Iddio) delli esèrciti, Iddio d' Israel: per che voi avete fatto questo grande male contro alle vostre anime, acciò che muoiano di voi uomini e femine, piccolo e lattante, del mezzo di Giuda, e non vi sia lasciato alcuna cosa d'avanzo;	7 And now, Yahweh, God Sabaoth, God of Israel, says this: Why bring complete disaster on yourselvesby cutting yourselves off from Judah -- your men, women, children and babes in arms -- so as to leaveyourselves no remnant,
8 provocandomi nell' opere delle vostre mani, sacrificando alli Iddii strani nella terra d' Egitto, nella quale voi siete entrati per abitare ivi; e siate dispersi, e in maledizione siate e in vergogna a tutte le genti della terra?	8 by provoking my wrath by your actions, offering incense to other gods in Egypt where you have cometo settle, as though bent on your own destruction and on becoming a curse and a laughing-stock for all thenations of the earth?
9 Ora avete voi dimenticato li (vostri) mali dei vostri padri e delli re de' Giudei e delle sue mogli, e i vostri mali e delle vostre donne, i quali mali feciono nella terra di Giuda e nelle parti di Ierusalem?	9 Have you forgotten the wicked deeds of your ancestors, of the kings of Judah and of your princes, yourown wicked deeds and those of your wives, committed in the country of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?
10 Non sono mondati insino a questo dì, e non temerono, e non andarono nella legge di Dio, e nelli miei comandamenti, i quali io diedi inanzi a voi e inanzi a' vostri padri.	10 To this day they have felt neither contrition nor fear; they have not observed my Law or my statutes,which I prescribed for you, as for your ancestors.
11 Però questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti, Iddio d'Israel: ecco io porrò la mia faccia in voi in male, e disperderò tutto Giuda.	11 So, Yahweh Sabaoth, God of Israel, says this: Look, I have determined on disaster and shal destroyJudah completely.
12 E piglierò lo rimanente di Giuda, i quali posono le loro faccie nella terra d' Egitto per entrarvi e per abitare ivi; e consumerannosi tutti nella terra di Egitto; cadranno in coltello e in fame; si consumeranno dal minimo per fino al massimo; in coltello e in fame sì moriranno: e saranno in maraviglia e in sacramento e in maledizione e in vituperio.	12 I shal take the remnant of Judah who were determined to come to Egypt and settle there, and inEgypt they wil perish; they wil fal to the sword or perish of famine, from least to greatest; by sword and faminethey will die and be an object of execration and horror, a curse, a laughing-stock.
13 E visiterò [sopra] li abitatori della terra d'Egitto, sì come io visitai sopra Ierusalem, in coltello, in fame e in pestilenza.	13 I shal punish those who live in Egypt just as I punished Jerusalem: by sword, famine and plague.
14 E non sarà chi ne scampi, e sia lo residuo del resto de' giudei, li quali vanno acciò che peregrinino nella terra d'Egitto; e ritorneranno nella terra di Giuda, alla quale egli levano le mani, acciò che ritornino e àbitino ivi; non ritorneranno ivi se non quelli che saranno fuggiti.	14 Of the remnant of Judah which has come to settle in Egypt, not a single one wil escape or survive toreturn to the country of Judah where they long to return and live. For none of them wil return, except a fewrefugees." '
15 E rispuosono tutti li uomini a Ieremia, sapiendo che le loro mogli sacrificavano alli iddii stranii, e tutte le femine delle quali grande moltitudine stava, e tutto il populo delli abitanti della terra d'Egitto in (quella terra che si chiama) Fatures, dicendo:	15 At this, all the men who knew that their wives offered incense to other gods, and al the women whowere standing there, a great crowd (and al the people living in Egypt, in Pathros), answered Jeremiah asfol ows,
16 Lo sermone che tu hai parlato a noi nel nome del nostro Signore Iddio, noi non udiremo da te.	16 'We have no intention of listening to the word you have just spoken to us in Yahweh's name,
17 Ma faremo ogni parola che uscirà della nostra bocca, acciò che noi sacrifichiamo a Dio del cielo, e sacrifichiamo a lui sacrificio, come facemmo noi e li nostri padri e li nostri re e li nostri prìncipi nelle terre di Giuda e nelle piazze di Ierusalem; e siamo saturati di pane, e sarà bene a noi, e non vederemo male.	17 but intend to go on doing al we have vowed to do: offering incense to the Queen of Heaven andpouring libations in her honour, as we used to do, we and our ancestors, our kings and our chief men, in thetowns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem: we had food in plenty then, we lived well, we suffered no disasters.
18 Di quello tempo che noi cessam mo di sacrificare alla regina del cielo, e sacrificare a lei, allora a noi fue bisogno di tutte le cose, e fummo consumati (di pestilenza e) di coltello e di fame.	18 But since we gave up offering incense to the Queen of Heaven and pouring libations in her honour,we have been destitute and have perished either by sword or by famine.
19 E se nci sacrifichiamo alla regina del cielo, e li sacrifichiamo sacrifici, or faremo noi a lei sanza forza le focaccie, ad amare lei? or tali sacrificii si vogliono fare?	19 Besides, when we offer incense to the Queen of Heaven and pour libations in her honour, do youthink we make cakes for her with her features on them, and pour libations to her, without our husbands'knowledge?'
20 E disse Ieremia incontro al populo, e incontro alli uomini e alle femine e a tutto lo chiericato, li quali aveano riposto per questa parola, dicendo:	20 To al the people, men and women, all those who had made this answer, Jeremiah retorted,
21 Or lo sacrificio, che sacrificaste nelle città di Giuda e nelle piazze di Ierusalem e voi e li vostri padri e li vostri re e li vostri principi e lo populo della terra, di quelli se n'è ricordato lo Signore, e ascese sopra lo cor suo?	21 'The incense you offered in the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem, you, your ancestors,your kings, your chief men and the people at large -- was this not what Yahweh kept remembering, and found sorepellent
22 E non potea Iddio più portare, per la malizia de' vostri istudii, e per le abominazioni le quali voi faceste; e fatta è la vostra terra (e venuta) in desolazione e in stupore e in maledizione, per ciò che non ci è abitatore, come in questo dì.	22 that Yahweh could not endure your misdeeds and your loathsome practices any longer, with the resultthat your country has become the uninhabited ruin, the object of horror and cursing it is today?
23 Però che avete sacrificati alli idoli, e avete peccato allo Signore, e non avete udito la voce sua, e non siete andati per li suoi comandamenti e per la sua legge e nelli suoi testimonii; e per questo vi sono venuti tutti questi mali, sì come è in questo giorno.	23 Because you offered incense, because you sinned against Yahweh, refusing to listen to the voice ofYahweh, or to observe his Law, his statutes and his decrees -- that is why the present disaster has overtakenyou.'
24 E disse Ieremia a tutto il populo e a tutte le femine: udite la parola di Dio, tutto Giuda, i quali siete nella terra d'Egitto.	24 Further, Jeremiah said to al the people, and particularly to al the women, 'Listen to the word ofYahweh, al you Judaeans in Egypt,
25 Questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti, Iddio d' Israel, dicente: voi e le vostre donne avete parlato colla vostra bocca, e sietevi empiuti colle vostre mani, dicendo: facciamo li nostri voti, i quali noi aviamo votati, cioè che noi sacrifichiamo alla regina del cielo sacrificii; voi compieste li vostri voti, e commetteste per opera.	25 Yahweh Sabaoth, God of Israel, says this, "You and your wives, what your mouths promised, yourhands have indeed performed! You said: We shall punctiliously fulfil the vows we have made and offer incenseto the Queen of Heaven and pour libations in her honour. Very wel , keep your vows, perform them punctiliously!
26 Però udite la parola di Dio, tutto Giuda, i quali siete nella terra d' Egitto: ecco, io giurai nel nome mio grande, dice Iddio, per che non si chiamerà più lo nome mio dalla bocca d'ogni uomo giudeo, dicendo: vive lo Signore Iddio, in ogni terra di Egitto.	26 But listen to the word of Yahweh, al you Judaeans living in Egypt: I swear by my great name, Yahwehsays, that my name wil no longer be uttered by any man of Judah throughout Egypt; no one wil say: As LordYahweh lives.
27 Ecco, io vegghierò sopra loro in male, e non in bene; e saranno consumati tutti li uomini di Giuda, (e quelli) che sono nella terra di Egitto, di coltello e di fame, infino a tanto che si consumino.	27 No, I am going to keep my eye on them for disaster, not for prosperity, and al the Judaeans in Egyptwil perish either by the sword or by famine until they are wiped out.
28 E quelli che aranno fuggito lo coltello, ritorneranno dalla terra di Egitto nella terra di Giuda, e saranno (molto) pochi uomini; e sapranno tutto lo rimanente di Giuda delli entrati nella terra di Egitto, acciò ch' egli àbitino ivi, la quale parola sarà più compiuta, tra la mia e la loro.	28 Yet, though few in number, those who escape the sword wil return to the country of Judah fromEgypt. Then the entire remnant of Judah which has come and settled in Egypt wil know whose word comes true,mine or theirs.
29 E questo vi sarà lo segno, dice Iddio; visiterò sopra voi nello luogo vostro, acciò sappiate veramente che le mie parole saranno compiute sopra voi in male.	29 "And here is the sign for you, Yahweh declares, that I shal punish you in this place: so that you wilknow that the words with which I threaten you will come true:
30 Questo dice Iddio: ecco io darò Faraone Efree, re d'Egitto, nelle mani de' suoi inimici, e nella mano di quelli che addomandano l' anima sua, come io diedi Sedecia, re di Giuda, in mano di Nabucodonosor, re di Babilonia, il quale era suo inimico, il quale cercava l'anima sua.	30 Yahweh says this: Look, I shal hand Pharaoh Hophra, king of Egypt, over to his enemies and to thosedetermined to kil him, just as I handed Zedekiah king of Judah over to his enemy Nebuchadnezzar king ofBabylon, who was determined to kil him." '
