BIBBIA VOLGARE	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Non ti allegrare nelli figliuoli rei, s' egli multiplicheranno; non ti dilettare sopra loro, se il timore di Dio non è con loro.	1 Rejoice not in ungodly children, if they be multiplied: neither be delighted in them, if the fear of God be not with them.
2 Non credere nella vita loro, e non guardare nelle loro fatiche.	2 Trust not to their life, and respect not their labours.
3 Migliore è uno che tema Iddio, che mille rei figliuoli.	3 For better is one that feareth God, than a thousand ungodly children.
4 Più utile è morire sanza figliuoli, che lasciarli rei e malvagi.	4 And it is better to die without children, than to leave ungodly children.
5 La patria fia abitata da uno savio; e fia abbandonata da tre cattivi.	5 By one that is wise a country shall be inhabited, the tribe of the ungodly shall become desolate.
6 Molte altre cose vidde l'occhio mio, e più fatti di questi udie l'orecchio mio.	6 Many such things hath my eyes seen, and greater things than these my ear hath heard.
7 Il fuoco arderae nella sinagoga delli peccanti, e l'ira arderae nella gente incredibile.	7 In the congregation of sinners a fire shall be kindled, and in an unbelieving nation wrath shall dame out.
8 Li antichi giganti non adorarono per li peccati loro, i quali furono distrutti confidandosi nella loro forza.	8 The ancient giants did not obtain pardon for their sine, who were destroyed trusting to their own strength:
9 E Dio non perdonò loro per che fussono in altrui terra; ma percosseli e maledisseli per la superbia del loro parlare.	9 And he spared not the place where Lot sojourned, but abhorred them for the pride of their word.
10 Non ebbe misericordia di loro, uccidendo tutta quella gente che si esaltava nelli loro peccati.	10 He had not pity on them, destroying the whole nation that extolled themselves in their sine.
11 E sì come di secento milia pedoni, ch' essi radunarono nella durizia del cuore suo; e se uno solo ne fosse issuto superbo, maraviglia sarebbe stato s'elli fosse scampato (sanza essere punito).	11 So did he with the six hundred thousand footmen, who were gathered together in the hardness of their heart: and if one had been stiffnecked, it is a wonder if he had escaped unpunished:
12 Misericordia ed ira è con lui; potente è la biastemma e spandente l'ira.	12 For mercy and wrath are with him. He is mighty to forgive, and to pour out indignation:
13 Secondo la misericordia sua, così fia lo castigamento; l' uomo è giudicato secondo le opere sue.	13 According as his mercy is, so his correction judgeth a man according to his works.
14 Lo peccatore non scamperà nella rapina, eziandio se la sofferenza indugerae coloro che fanno misericordia.	14 The sinner shall not escape in his rapines, and the patience of him that sheweth mercy shall not be put off.
15 Ogni misericordia farà luogo [a ciascuno] secondo li meriti delle opere sue, e secondo lo intendimento della peregrinazione sua.	15 All mercy shall make a place for every man according to the merit of his works, and according to the wisdom of his sojournment.
16 Non dire: io mi nasconderoe da Dio, e chi Idi cielo si ricorderae di me?	16 Say not: I shall be hidden from God. and who shall remember me from on high?
17 Io non sarò conosciuto nel grande popolo; o che è l'anima mia in tante innumerabili creature?	17 In such a multitude I shall not be known: for what is my soul in such an immense creation?
18 Ecco il cielo [e i cieli] delli cieli, il mare e tutta la terra, e quelle cose che sono in essa si commoveranno nel conspetto suo.	18 Behold the heaven, and the heavens of heavens, the deep, and all the earth, and the things that are in them, shall be moved in his sight,
19 Li monti e insiememente li colli e le fondamenta della terra, quando Iddio li guaterae, per la paura si dibatteranno.	19 The mountains also, and the hills, end the foundations of the earth: when God shall look upon them, they shall be shaken with trembling.
20 E in tutte queste cose è cuore sanza sentimento; e ogni cuore è inteso da colui.	20 And in all these things the heart is senseless: and every heart is understood by him:
21 Or chi intende le vie di Dio? Chi intende la tempesta, la quale non vede l'occhio dell' uomo?	21 And his ways who shall understand, and the storm, which no eye of man see?
22 Molte sue opere sono ascose a noi; ma chi annunzierà le opere della sua giustizia? Or chi lo sosterrà? Da lungi è il testamento d' alquanti; e la domanda delli uomini è in finire.	22 For many of his works are hidden: hut the works of his justice who shall declare? or who shall endure? for the testament is far from some, and the examination of all is in the end.
23 Colui che diminuisce nel suo cuore pensa cose vane; e l'uomo sciocco ed errante pensa le cose stolte.	23 He that wanteth understanding thinketh vain things: and the foolish, and erring man, thinketh foolish things.
24 Odimi, figliuolo, e appara la disciplina del senno; e nel cuore tuo attendi le mie parole.	24 Hearken to me, my son, and learn the discipline of understanding, and attend to my words in thy heart.
25 E parlerotti con ammaestramento e dirittura, e cercaroe di narrarti sapienza; e alle parole mie attendi col cuore tuo, e dicoti in dirittura li spiriti della virtude, che Iddio pose nelle opere sue dal cominciamento, e nella veritade dico la scienza sua.	25 And I will shew forth good doctrine in equity, and will seek to declare wisdom: and attend to my words in thy heart, whilst with equity of spirit I tell thee the virtues that God hath put upon his works from the beginning, and I shew forth in truth his knowledge.
26 E nel giudicio di Dio furono le opere sue dal principio; dalla formazione degli uomini distinse la loro parte, e li cominciamenti disse nelle genti sue.	26 The works of God are done in judgment from the beginning, and from the making of them he distinguished their parts, and their beginnings in their generations.
27 Adornò in eterno le opere di coloro; nè ebbono fame, nè lavorarono, e non cessarono delle opere sue.	27 He beautified their works for ever, they have neither hungered, nor laboured, and they have not ceased from their works.
28 Ciascuno non angoscerae il prossimo suo infino nel secolo.	28 Nor shall any of them straiten his neighbour at any time.
29 Non essere incredibile alla parola sua.	29 Be not thou incredulous to his word.
30 Dopo queste cose Iddio guardoe in terra, ed empiella de' suoi beni.	30 After this God looked upon the earth, and filled it with his goods.
31 Ogni anima vitale denunzioe inanzi la faccia di colui, e ancora il ritornamento medesimo di coloro.	31 The soul of every living thing hath shewn forth before the face thereof, and into it they return again.
