BIBBIA VOLGARE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 In fine, salmo di David.	1 [For the choirmaster For Jeduthun Psalm Of David] I said, 'I wil watch how I behave so that I do notsin by my tongue. I will keep a muzzle on my mouth as long as any sinner is near.'
2 Aspettando aspettai il Signore, e a me ha atteso.	2 I stayed dumb, silent, speechless, but the sinner's prosperity redoubled my torment.
3 Egli ha esaudito le mie preghiere; e hammi tratto del lago della miseria, e del luto della feccia. E ordinò i miei piedi sopra la pietra; e raddrizzò li miei andamenti.	3 My heart had been smouldering within me, but at the thought of this it flared up and the words camebursting out,
4 E puose nella mia bocca il nuovo canto, verso al nostro Iddio. Molti vederanno, e temeranno; e spereranno nel Signore.	4 'Yahweh, let me know my fate, how much longer I have to live. Show me just how frail I am.
5 Beato l'uomo, del qual il nome del Signore è sua speranza; e non riguarderà nelle vanità, nè nelle pazzie false.	5 'Look, you have given me but a hand's breadth or two of life, the length of my life is as nothing to you.Every human being that stands on earth is a mere puff of wind,
6 Tu, Signore Dio mio, hai fatto molte tue maraviglie; e nelli tuoi pensieri non è cui ti assimiglia. Ho raccontato e parlato; sono moltiplicati sopra il numero.	6 every human being that walks only a shadow; a mere puff of wind is the wealth stored away -- noknowing who wil profit from it.'
7 Non hai voluto il sacrificio e l'offerta; ma hai fatto perfette le mie orecchie. Non domandasti il sacrificio per il peccato.	7 So now, Lord, what am I to hope for? My hope is in you.
8 Allora dissi: ecco che vengo. Nel capo del libro scritto è di me,	8 Save me from al my sins, do not make me the butt of fools.
9 ch' io farei la tua volontà; Iddio mio, ho voluto; e la tua legge è in mezzo del mio cuore.	9 I keep silence, I speak no more since you yourself have been at work.
10 Nella grande Chiesa annunziai la tua giustizia; ecco non vieterò le labbra mie; Signore, tu l' hai saputo.	10 Take your scourge away from me. I am worn out by the blows you deal me.
11 Nel mio cuore non ho ascoso la tua giustizia; ho detto la tua verità e tua salute. Non ho occultato la tua misericordia e verità dal molto consiglio.	11 You correct human beings by punishing sin, like a moth you eat away all their desires -- a humanbeing is a mere puff of wind.
12 Ma tu, Signore, non allungare da me le tue miserazioni; la tua misericordia e verità sempre mi ricevettero.	12 Yahweh, hear my prayer, listen to my cry for help, do not remain deaf to my weeping. For I am astranger in your house, a nomad like al my ancestors.
13 Per che i mali senza numero mi circondorono; mi presero le mie iniquità, e non ho possuto acciò che vedessi. Le sono moltiplicate sopra gli capelli del mio capo; e il mio cuore mi ha abbandonato.	13 Turn away your gaze that I may breathe freely before I depart and am no more!
14 Piaccia a te, Signore, che mi liberi; Signore, guarda di aiutarmi.
15 Confondansi e vergogninsi insieme quelli che cercano di levare l'anima mia. Siano tornati a drieto, e vergogninsi coloro che vogliono a me male.
16 Portino prestamente la sua confusione quelli che dicono: allegratevi, allegratevi.
17 Rallegrinsi sopra te tutti che ti chiedono; e quelli che amano la tua salute sempre dicano: sia magnificato il Signore.
18 Ma io son povero e mendico; il Signore ha cura di me. Tu sei mio aiutore e defensore; tu sei il mio Iddio; priegoti, non tardare.
