1 Questi vennero a David in Siceleg, quando egli fuggia Saul figliuolo di Cis, i quali erano fortissimi e robustissimi combattitori,	1 These are the men who rallied to David at Ziklag while he was stil being kept away from Saul son ofKish; they were among the champions, the warriors.
2 tendenti l'arco, e gittavano sassi con le fionde con amendue le mani, e gittavano le saette; de' fratelli di Saul [di] Beniamin,	2 They were equipped with bows and could sling stones or shoot arrows from the bow with either righthand or left. Of Saul's fellow-tribesmen from Benjamin:
3 principe Aiezer e Ioas, figliuoli di Samaa, Gabaatiti, e Iaziel, e Fallet, figliuoli di Azmot, e Baraca e Ieu Anatotiti;	3 Ahiezer the leader, and Joash, sons of Hassemar of Gibeah, Jeziel and Peleth, sons of Azmaveth,Berachah and Jehu of Anathoth,
4 e Samaia Gabaonite fortissimo tra' trenta e sopra li trenta, Ieremia e Ieeziel e Ioanan e Iezabad Gaderotiti;	4 Ishmaiah of Gibeon, one of the champions in the Thirty and commander of the Thirty,
5 ed Eluzai e Ierimut, Baalia e Samaria e Safatia Arufiti;	5 Jeremiah, Jahaziel, Johanan and Jozabed of Gederoth,
6 Elcana e Iesia e Azareel e Ioezer e Iesbaam di Careim;	6 Eluzai, Jerimoth, Bealiah, Shemariah, Shephatiah of Hariph,

9 Ezer principe, Obdia secondo, Eliab terzo,	9 From the Gadites, some good, capable fighting men defected and came to David at the stronghold inthe desert -- al skil ed with shield and spear, fierce as lions and nimble as mountain gazel es.
10 Masmana quarto, Ieremia quinto,	10 Ezer was the leader, Obadiah second, Eliab third,
11 Eti sesto, Eliel settimo,	11 Mishmannah fourth, Jeremiah fifth,

15 Questi sono quelli che passarono il Giordano il primo mese, quando era usato di trapassare di sopra alle ripe sue; e fuggirono tutti quelli che abitavano nelle valli dalla parte d'oriente e dalla parte d' occidente.	15 These Gadites were the leaders of the troops, the least of them a match for a hundred men and thegreatest a match for a thousand.
16 E vennero anche di Beniamin e di Giuda adiutorio dove dimorava David.	16 These were the men who once crossed the Jordan in the first month, when it had overflowed itsbanks and had driven out al the lowlanders to east and west.
17 E David uscìo loro incontro, e disse loro: venite voi a me pacifici per aiutarmi? il mio cuore sia unito con esso voi; ma se voi mi insidiate per gli nemici miei, conciosia cosa ch' io non abbia per le mie mani iniquità, veggia lo Iddio de' nostri padri, e giùdichilo.	17 Some of the Benjaminites and Judahites also joined David at the stronghold.
18 E lo spirito vestìo Amasai principe trai trenta, e disse: o David, noi siamo tuoi, e con esso teco, figliuolo d' Isai; pace, pace sia con teco e con tutti gli tuoi adiutori; però che il tuo Iddio aiuta te. Onde David gli ricevette, e ordinò prìncipi delle turbe.	18 When David came forward to meet them, he responded to them by saying, 'If you have come to mewith peaceful intent to help me, you will find me a good friend. But if it is to betray me to my enemies, seeing thatI have done nothing wrong, may the God of our ancestors take note and condemn you.'
19 E anche di Manasse rifuggirono a David, quando venia coi Filistei per combattere contro a Saul; e non combatteo con loro; però che fatto consiglio, i principi de' Filistei lo rimandarono dicendo: con pericolo del nostro capo si ritornerà al suo signore Saul.	19 Then the Spirit invested Amasai the leader of the Thirty: 'We are your men, David; with you, son ofJesse! Peace be with you, peace be with you; peace be with those who help you! For your God has helped you!'And David accepted them, including them among his more senior officers.

21 Questi diedero aiuto a David contro a' ladroncelli; ed erano tutti uomini fortissimi, e furono fatti principi nello esercito.	21 He was on his way to Ziklag when these Manassehites deserted to him: Adnah, Jozabad, Jediael,Michael, Jozabad, Elihu, Zil ethai, chiefs of thousands in Manasseh.
22 E ogni di venivano a David in suo aiuto, tanto che fue fatto grande numero, quasi esercito di Dio.	22 They helped David and his band, since they were al men of standing and became officers in thearmy.
23 E questo è il numero de' principi dello esercito, che vennero a David, essendo egli in Ebron, per transmutare a lui il regno di Saul, secondo la parola di Dio.	23 Indeed reinforcements reached David day after day, so that his camp grew into a camp of prodigioussize.
24 I figliuoli di Giuda, portanti scudo e lancia, ed espediti a battaglia, semilia ottocento;	24 These are the numbers of ful y armed men who joined David at Hebron to transfer Saul's kingdom tohim in accordance with the order of Yahweh:
25 de' figliuoli di Simeon, fortissimi a combattere, settemilia cento;	25 Judahites carrying shield and spear: six thousand eight hundred ful y armed warriors;
26 de' figliuoli di Levi quattromilia secento;	26 Simeonites; seven thousand one hundred champions valiant in war;
27 e Ioiada principe della stirpe d' Aaron, e con esso tremilia settecento;	27 Levites: four thousand six hundred,
28 e Sadoc, giovane di buona qualità, e della casa del suo padre, principi XXII.	28 in addition to Jehoiada, in command of the Aaronites, with three thousand seven hundred of these,
29 e de' figliuoli di Beniamin fratelli di Saul, tre milia; e grande parte di loro seguitava ancora la casa di Saul;	29 Zadok, a young and valiant champion, and twenty-two commanders of his family;
30 e de' figliuoll di Efraim ventimilia ottocento, uomini fortissimi e nominati nelle cognazioni loro;	30 Benjaminites: three thousand kinsmen of Saul, most of them hitherto in the service of the House ofSaul;
31 e della mezza (parte della) tribù di Manasse XVIII milia, ciascuno per nome, vennero a David per farlo re;	31 Ephraimites: twenty thousand eight hundred valiant champions, men famous in their families;
32 de' figliuoli d' Issacar uomini savi, i quali conoscevano tutti i tempi a comandare quello che Israel dovesse fare, principi ducento; e tutta l'altra tribù seguitava il consiglio loro.	32 of the half-tribe of Manasseh: eighteen thousand men assigned by name to go and proclaim Davidking;
33 E di Zabulon, uomini i quali uscivano a battaglia, e istavano in ischiera armati d'arme a combattere, cinquantamilia ne vennero in aiuto (a David), non con doppio cuore;	33 Issacharites, sound judges of the times when Israel should take action, and the way to do it: twohundred chiefs and al their kinsmen under their command;
34 di Neftali mille principi; e con esso loro uomini dotti nelli scudi e asta, XXXVII milia;	34 Zebulunites: fifty thousand men fit for service, marshalled for battle, with warlike weapons of everykind, staunch-hearted auxiliaries;
35 di Dan uomini apparecchiati a combattere XXVIII milia secento;	35 Naphtalites: a thousand commanders, and with them thirty-seven thousand men armed with shieldand spear;

38 Tutti questi uomini combattitori ed espediti a battaglia con perfetto cuore vennero in Ebron per fare David re sopra tutto Israel; e tutti gli altri d' Israel erano di una volontà, che David si fesse re (sopra Israel).	38 from Transjordan: a hundred and twenty thousand men of Reuben, Gad and the half-tribe ofManasseh, with warlike weapons of every kind.
39 E istettero ivi con esso David a mangiare tre die; però che i loro fratelli aveano apparecchiato loro.	39 Al these warriors in battle array came to David at Hebron with the firm determination of makingDavid king of al Israel; and the rest of Israel, too, was of one mind in wanting to make David king.
40 E quelli che erano presso [loro], insino ad Issacar e Zabulon e Neftali, portavano il pane in su gli asini, in su i camelli, in su i muli; e con buoi a mangiare, farina, fichi secchi, uve passe, vino, olio, buoi, montoni in abbondanza; però che allegrezza era in Israel.	40 For three days they stayed there with David, eating and drinking, their fellow-tribesmen having madepreparations for them;
	41 their neighbours too, from as far away as Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, came bringing food ondonkeys, camels, mules and oxen-supplies of flour, fig cakes, bunches of raisins, wine, oil, quantities of oxenand sheep -- for there was joy in Israel.
