Lettera agli Ebrei 3

1 Voi dunque, o santi fratelli, partecipi della vocazione celeste, fissate lo sguardo nell'Apostolo, nel gran sacerdote della nostra fede, in Gesù,	1 Therefore, holy brothers, sharers in the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession: Jesus.
2 il quale è fedele a colui che l'ha costituito, come anche Mose fu fedele in tutta la casa di lui.	2 He is faithful to the One who made him, just as Moses also was, with his entire house.
3 Egli dunque è stato reputato degno di tanta maggior gloria in confronto di Mosè, quanto chi l'ha costituito ha maggior gloria della casa.	3 For this Jesus was considered worthy of greater glory than Moses, so much so that the house which he has built holds a greater honor than the former one.
4 Certo ogni casa è fatta da qualcuno; ma chi ha creato tutte le cose è Dio.	4 For every house is built by someone, but God is the One who has created all things.
5 Or Mosè fu bensì « fedele in tutta la casa di lui », come servitore, per render testimonianza alle cose che dovevano essere poi annunziate;	5 And certainly Moses was faithful, with his entire house, like any servant, as a testimony to those things that would soon be said.
6 ma Cristo è come un figliolo in casa sua; e la casa siamo noi, se incrollabile riteniamo sino alla fine la fiducia e la gloria della speranza.	6 Yet truly, Christ is like a Son in his own house. We are that house, if we firmly retain the faithfulness and the glory of hope, even unto the end.
7 Perciò, come dice lo Spirito Santo: Oggi se udirete la sua voce,	7 Because of this, it is just as the Holy Spirit says: “If today you hear his voice,
8 non vogliate indurare i vostri cuori, come nella contesa, il giorno della tentazione nel deserto.	8 harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, the very day of temptation, in the desert,
9 Dove i vostri padri mi tentarono, fecero di me prova e videro le mie opere	9 where your fathers tested me, even though they had seen and examined my works for forty years.
10 per quarantanni: perciò mi irritai con questa generazione, e dissi: sempre son traviati nel loro cuore. Essi però non han conosciute le mie vie	10 For this reason, I was enraged against this generation, and I said: They always wander astray in heart. For they have not known my ways.
11 ed ho giurato nel mio sdegno: Non entreranno nel mio riposo.	11 So it is as I swore in my wrath: They shall not enter into my rest!”
12 Badate o fratelli, che in qualcuno di voi non abbia a trovarsi un cuore cattivo e capace d'incredulità, e di farvi allontanare da Dio vivo;	12 Be cautious, brothers, lest perhaps there may be, in any of you, an evil heart of unbelief, turning aside from the living God.
13 ma esortatevi a vicenda ogni giorno, fino a che si possa dire: « oggi », affinchè nessuno di voi resti indurato per la seduzione della colpa,	13 Instead, exhort one another every day, while it is still called ‘today,’ so that none of you may become hardened through the falseness of sin.
14 perchè siamo partecipi di Cristo alla condizione di ritenere sino alla fine salda la fede che avemmo sin da principio.	14 For we have been made participants in Christ. This is only so, if we firmly retain the beginning of his substance, even unto the end.
15 Se è detto: « Oggi, se udirete la sua voce, non vogliate indurare i vostri cuori come nella contesa ».	15 For it has been said: “If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts, in the same manner as in the former provocation.”
16 Certo, quelli che, dopo avere udito, prevaricarono, furono alcuni, ma non tutti coloro che sotto la scorta di Mosè uscirono dall'Egitto.	16 For some of those listening did provoke him. But not all of these had set forth from Egypt through Moses.
17 E con chi s'irritò per quarantanni, se non con quelli che avevano peccato e i cadaveri dei quali giacquero nel deserto?	17 So against whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not those who had sinned, whose dead bodies lay prostrate in the desert?
18 E a chi giurò di non farli entrare nel suo riposo, se non a coloro che furono miscredenti?	18 But to whom did he swear that they would not enter into his rest, except to those who were incredulous?
19 Vediamo infatti che non vi poterono entrare proprio a motivo della loro miscredenza.	19 And so, we perceive that they were not able to enter because of unbelief.
