1 Ma lo Spirito dice apertamente che negli ultimi tempi alcuni apostateranno dalla fede, per dar retta agli spiriti ingannatori e alle dottrine dei demoni,	1 Now the Spirit explicitly says that in the last times some will turn away from the faith by paying attention to deceitful spirits and demonic instructions
2 ipocritamente mentitori, turpemente macchiati nella coscienza;	2 through the hypocrisy of liars with branded consciences.
3 che vietano le nozze e vogliono l'astensione dai cibi, creati da Dio per essere usati con azioni di grazie dai fedeli e da coloro che hanno conosciuta la verità;	3 They forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.
4 perchè tutto quello che Dio ha creato è buono e nessuna cosa è da rigettare, se presa con azioni di grazie,	4 For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected when received with thanksgiving,
5 essendo santificata dalla parola di Dio e dall'orazione.	5 for it is made holy by the invocation of God in prayer.
6 Se proporrai queste cose ai fratelli, sarai buon ministro di Cristo Gesù nutrito delle parole della fede e della buona dottrina che tu hai ricevuta.	6 If you will give these instructions to the brothers, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished on the words of the faith and of the sound teaching you have followed.
7 Ma rigetta le profane favole da vecchierelle, ed esercitati invece nella pietà;	7 Avoid profane and silly myths. Train yourself for devotion,
8 perchè l'esercizio corporale serve a poco, ma la pietà è utile a tutto, avendo la promessa della vita presente e della futura.	8 for, while physical training is of limited value, devotion is valuable in every respect, since it holds a promise of life both for the present and for the future.
9 Questa è una verità certa e degna d'essere accettata,	9 This saying is trustworthy and deserves full acceptance.
10 ed è per questo che ci affatichiamo e lottiamo, perchè abbiamo riposta la nostra speranza in Dio vivo, che è salvatore di tutti gli uomini, massime dei fedeli.	10 For this we toil and struggle, because we have set our hope on the living God, who is the savior of all, especially of those who believe.
11 Annunzia queste cose e insegnale.	11 Command and teach these things.
12 Nessuno disprezzi la tua giovinezza, ma tu sii il modello dei fedeli nel parlare, nel conversare, nella carità, nella fede, nella castità.	12 Let no one have contempt for your youth, but set an example for those who believe, in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity.
13 Sino a che non vengo, attendi alla lettura, all'esortazione, all'insegnamento.	13 Until I arrive, attend to the reading, exhortation, and teaching.
14 Non trascurare la grazia che è in te, e che ti fu data in virtù d'una profezia, coll'imposizione delle mani degli anziani.	14 Do not neglect the gift you have, which was conferred on you through the prophetic word with the imposition of hands of the presbyterate.
15 Medita queste cose, vivi in esse, affinchè il tuo progresso sia palese a tutti.	15 Be diligent in these matters, be absorbed in them, so that your progress may be evident to everyone.
16 Attendi a te e all'insegnamento e persevera in queste cose, perchè facendo così tu salverai te stesso e quelli che ti ascoltano.	16 Attend to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in both tasks, for by doing so you will save both yourself and those who listen to you.
