1 Figli di Ruben primogenito di Israele. Ruben fu il primogeni­to; ma la sua primogenitura, avendo egli violato il talamo di suo padre, fu data ai figli di Giu­seppe figlio d'Israele, ed egli non fu considerato come primoge­nito.	1 Sons of Reuben, first-born of Israel. He was indeed the first-born but, when he defiled his father's bed,his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph son of Israel, and he was no longer reckoned as the eldest son.

15 Furon pur loro fratelli i figli di Abdiel figlio di Guni, capi di ca­sa nelle loro famiglie.	15 Ahi son of Abdiel, son of Guni, was the head of their families.
16 Abita­rono in Galaad, in Basan e nei suoi villaggi e in tutti i borghi di Saron, fino ai confini.	16 They inhabited Gilead, Bashan and its dependencies, as wel as al the pasture lands of Sharon ontheir extremities.
17 Tut­ti questi furono annoverati al tempo di Ioatan re di Giuda e al tempo di Geroboamo re d'Israele.	17 In the time of Jotham king of Judah and in the time of Jeroboam king of Israel, al of them wereincluded in the official genealogy.
18 I figli di Ruben, di Gad e della mezza tribù di Manasse erano uomini guerrieri che por­tavano scudo e spada, tiravan l'arco, ed erano addestrati alla guerra. 21 Presero tutto quel­lo che possedevano: cinquanta mila cammelli, ducentocinquanta mila pecore, due mila asini, cento mila anime umane.	21 Of their livestock they carried off fifty thousand camels, two hundred and fifty thousand sheep, twothousand donkeys and a hundred thousand people.
22 Molti feriti morirono, perchè ci fu la guerra del Signore. E abita­rono in loro luogo fino alla transmigrazione.	22 Because the war was of God, the slaughter was great. They continued to live in their territory until theexile.
23 Parimenti i figli della mezza tribù di Manasse possedettero il paese dai confini di Basan sino a Baal-Ermon, Sanir e la mon­tagna di Ermon, essendo molto numerosi.	23 The sons of the half-tribe of Manasseh lived in the territory between Bashan and Baal-Hermon, Senirand Mount Hermon. They were numerous.
24 Principi della casa della loro parentela furono Efer, Iesi, Eliel, Ezriel, Geremia, Odoia, Iediel, uomini fortissimi e po­tenti capi e rinomati nelle loro famiglie.	24 These were the heads of their families: Epher, Ishi, Eliel, Azriel, Jeremiah, Hodaviah, Jahdiel -- stoutfighting men, men of renown, heads of their families.
25 Ma essi abbandonarono il Dio dei loro padri, fornicarono dietro agli dèi dei popoli del pae­se, che Dio aveva distrutti dinan­zi a loro.	25 But since they were unfaithful to the God of their ancestors and prostituted themselves to the gods ofthe peoples of the country whom God had destroyed before them,
26 Per questo il Dio d'I­sraele suscitò l'animo di Fui re degli Assiri e di Telgatfalnasar re di Assur e trasportò Ruben, Gad e la mezza tribù di Manasse, e li condusse a Lahela, a Habor, ad Ara, sul fiume Gozan, fino al pre­sente.	26 the God of Israel roused the hostility of Pul, king of Assyria, that is the wrath of Tiglath-Pileser, king ofAssyria who deported them -- the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh -- taking them off toHalah, Habor, Hara and the river of Gozan. 	33 Meraioth fathered Amariah, Amariah fathered Ahitub,
	34 Ahitub fathered Zadok, Zadok fathered Ahimaaz.
	35 Ahimaaz fathered Azariah, Azariah fathered Johanan.
	36 Johanan fathered Azariah. He it was who officiated as priest in the Temple which Solomon built inJerusalem.
	37 Azariah fathered Amariah, Amariah fathered Ahitub,
	38 Ahitub fathered Zadok, Zadok fathered Shallum,
	39 Shallum fathered Hilkiah, Hilkiah fathered Azariah,
	40 Azariah fathered Seraiah, Seraiah fathered Jehozadak,
	41 and Jehozadak went into exile when, at the hands of Nebuchadnezzar, Yahweh exiled Judah andJerusalem.
