1 Or David convocò a Gerusa­lemme tutti i principi d'Israele, i capi delle tribù, i capi delle divisioni al servizio del re, i tribuni, i centurioni, quelli che presiedevano ai beni e ai possessi del re, i suoi figli, i cortigiani, i potenti e i più valorosi dell'esercito.	1 And so David called together all the leaders of Israel, the rulers of the tribes, and those in charge of the companies, who were ministering to the king, and also the tribunes and centurions, and those in charge of the substance and possessions of the king, and his sons, with the eunuchs and the powerful and those most experienced in the army, at Jerusalem.
2 Poi il re, alzatosi e rimanendo in piedi, disse: « Ascoltatemi, fratelli miei, popolo mio: io ebbi intenzione d'edificare una casa nella qua­le riposasse l'arca dell'alleanza del Signore e lo sgabello dei piedi del nostro Dio; e per edificarla avevo fatto tutti i preparativi;	2 And when the king had risen up and was standing, he said: “Listen to me, my brothers and my people. I thought that I would build a house, in which the ark of the covenant of the Lord, the footstool of our God, might rest. And so I prepared everything for its building.
3 ma Dio m'ha detto: Tu non edificherai una casa al nome mio, perchè sei uomo di guerra e hai sparso del sangue.	3 But God said to me: ‘You shall not build a house to my name, because you are a man of war, and have shed blood.’
4 Il Signore Dio d'Israele elesse me di tutta la casa del mio padre, perchè fossi re sopra Israele in perpetuo: egli scelse da Giuda i principi, dalla casa di Giuda quella di mio padre; dai figli di mio padre gli piacque scegliere me come re sopra tutto Israele.	4 Now the Lord God of Israel chose me, out of the entire house of my father, so that I would be king over Israel forever. For from Judah he chose leaders; then from the house of Judah he chose the house of my father; and from the sons of my father, it pleased him to choose me as king over all of Israel.
5 E tra i miei figli (il Signore me ne ha dati molti) ha scelto il mio figlio Salomone, perchè segga sul trono del regno del Signore sopra Israele,	5 Then too, among my sons (for the Lord has given me many sons) he chose Solomon my son, so that he would sit upon the throne of the kingdom of the Lord, over Israel.
6 e mi ha detto: Salomone tuo figlio edificherà la mia casa e i miei atrii, perchè io me l'ho eletto per figlio e gli sarò padre,	6 And he said to me: ‘Solomon your son shall build my house and my courts. For I have chosen him to be to me as a son, and I will be to him as a father.
7 e stabilirò il suo regno in eterno, se persevererà nell'adempimento dei miei precetti e delle mie ordinazioni come oggi.	7 And I will make firm his kingdom, even unto eternity, if he will persevere in doing my precepts and judgments, as also today.’
8 Or dunque dinanzi a tutta l'adunanza d'Israele, e al nostro Dio che ci ascolta, osservate e prendete a cuore tutti i comandamenti del Signore Dio nostro, per possedere l'ottima terra e lasciarla ai vostri figli dopo di voi in sempiterno.	8 Now therefore, before the entire assembly of Israel, in the hearing of our God, keep and seek all the commandments of the Lord our God, so that you may possess the good land, and may bequeath it to your sons after you, even forever.
9 Tu poi, o Salomone mio figlio, riconosci il Dio di tuo padre, servilo con cuore perfetto e con animo volenteroso, perchè il Signore scruta tutti i cuori e penetra tutti i pensieri della mente. Se lo cerchi lo troverai; ma se lo abbandoni egli ti rigetterà in eterno.	9 And as for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve him with a perfect heart and a willing mind. For the Lord searches all hearts, and understands the thoughts of all minds. If you seek him, you will find him. But if you abandon him, he will cast you aside for eternity.
10 Ed ora che il Signore ti ha eletto per edificare la casa del santuario, sii forte e compi l'opera ».	10 Now therefore, since the Lord has chosen you, so that you would build the house of the Sanctuary, be strengthened and accomplish it.”
11 David diè a Salomone suo figlio il disegno del portico, del tempio, dei magazzini, del cenacolo, delle stanze segrete, della casa di propiziazione,	11 Then David gave to his son Solomon a description of the portico, and the temple, and the storerooms, and the upper floor, and the innermost rooms, and the house of propitiation,
12 di tutti gli atrii che egli aveva ideato, delle abitazioni all'intorno per i tesori della casa del Signore e per i tesori delle cose sante;	12 and indeed also of all the courts that he had planned, and the outer rooms on all sides, for the treasuries of the house of the Lord, and for the treasuries of the holy things,
13 la distribuzione dei sacerdoti e dei leviti per tutti gli uffici della casa del Signore e per tutti i vasi consacrati al servizio del tempio del Signore:	13 and for the divisions of the priests and the Levites: concerning all the works of the house of the Lord and all the items in the ministry of the temple of the Lord.
14 d'oro secondo il peso necessario per ciascun vaso del ministero, e un monte d'argento pesato secondo la diversità dei vasi e dei lavori.	14 There was gold by weight for every vessel of the ministry, and also silver by weight for the diversity of vessels and equipment.
15 Per i candelabri d'oro e per le lampade diede l'oro secondo la misura di ciascun candelabro e delle lampade. Così pure per i candelabri d'argento e per le loro lampade diede il peso d'argento secondo la diversità della loro misura.	15 Then too, he distributed gold for the lampstands and their lamps, according to the measure of each of the lampstands with their lamps. Similarly also, he distributed silver by weight for the silver lampstands with their lamps, according to the diversity of their measure.
16 Diede inoltre l'oro per le tavole dei pani di proposizione, secondo la diversità delle tavole, e l'argento per le altre tavole d'argento.	16 Also, he gave gold for the tables of the presence, according to the diversity of the tables; similarly too, he gave silver for the other tables of silver.
17 Cosi pure per i forchettoni, per le coppe, per i turiboli d'oro finissimo. Per i leoncini di oro, secondo la misura, della loro grandezza, assegnò pesato l'oro per l'un e per l'altro leoncino. Così pure per i leoni d'argento mise da parte un altro peso d'argento-	17 Also, he distributed from the purest gold for the small hooks and the bowls and the censors, as well as for the little lions of gold, in accord with the precise measure of the weight, for lion after lion. Similarly too, for the lions of silver, he set aside a different weight of silver.
18 Diede inoltre oro finissimo per l'altare su cui brucia l'incenso e per farne una rappresentazione del carro dei cherubini che spandono le ali e velano l'arca dell'alleanza del Signore. i	18 Then, for the altar on which the incense was burned, he gave the purest gold. And from the same he made the likeness of the chariot of the Cherubim, with extended wings, which is veiling the ark of the covenant of the Lord.
19 Tutte que­ste cose, egli disse, mi sono venute scritte dalla mano del Si­gnore, che mi ha fatto comprendere tutti i lavori di questo disegno ».	19 “All these things,” he said, “came to me written by the hand of the Lord, so that I would understand all the works of the pattern.”
20 Disse ancora David a Salomone suo figlio: « Agisci virilmente e fatti animo, e mettiti all'opera, senza temere, senza sbigottire; perchè il Signore Dio mio sarà con te, e non ti lascerà, non ti abbandonerà fino a tanto che tu non abbia compita tutta l'opera del servizio della casa del Signore.	20 David also said to his son Solomon: “Act manfully, and be strengthened, and carry it out. You should not be afraid, and you should not be dismayed. For the Lord my God will be with you, and he will not send you away, nor will he abandon you, until you have perfected the entire work of the ministry of the house of the Lord.
21 Ecco, le classi dei sacerdoti e dei leviti per tutto il servizio della casa di Dio sono davanti a te, son pronte, e tanto i capi come il popolo sanno eseguire tutti i tuoi comandi ».	21 Behold, the divisions of the priests and the Levites, for every ministry of the house of the Lord, are standing before you. And they have been prepared, and so they know, both the leaders and the people, how to carry out all your precepts.”
