1 וַיְהִי כְּכַלּוֹת יֵשׁוּעַ לְדַבֵּר אֵת כָּל־הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה וַיֹּאמֶר אֶל־תַּלְמִידָיו	1 Ye know that after two days the passover takes place, and the Son of man is delivered up to be crucified.
2 אַתֶּם יְדַעְתֶּם כִּי אַחֲרֵי יוֹמַיִם יִהְיֶה הַפָּסַח וּבֶן־הָאָדָם יִמָּסֵר לְהִצָּלֵב	2 Then the chief priests and the elders of the people were gathered together to the palace of the high priest who was called Caiaphas,
3 וַיִּקָּהֲלוּ הַכֹּהֲנִים הַגְּדוֹלִים וְהַסּוֹפְרִים וְזִקְנֵי הָעָם אֶל־חֲצַר הַכֹּהֵן הַגָּדוֹל הַנִּקְרָא קַיָּפָא	3 and took counsel together in order that they might seize Jesus by subtlety and kill him;
4 וַיִּוָּעֲצוּ יַחְדָּו לִתְפֹּשׂ אֶת־יֵשׁוּעַ בְּעָרְמָה וְלַהֲמִיתוֹ	4 but they said, Not in the feast, that there be not a tumult among the people.
5 וַיֹּאמְרוּ אַךְ־לֹא בֶחָג פֶּן־תִּהְיֶה מְהוּמָה בָּעָם	5 a woman, having an alabaster flask of very precious ointment, came to him and poured it out upon his head as he lay at table.
6 וַיְהִי בִּהְיוֹת יֵשׁוּעַ בֵּית־הִינִי בְּבֵית שִׁמְעוֹן הַמְּצֹרָע	6 But the disciples seeing it became indignant, saying, To what end {was} this waste?
7 וַתִּקְרַב אֵלָיו אִשָּׁה וּבְיָדָהּ פַּךְ־שֶׁמֶן יָקָר מְאֹד וַתִּצֹּק עַל־רֹאשׁוֹ בַּהֲסִבּוֹ עַל־הַשֻּׁלְחָן	7 for this might have been sold for much and been given to the poor.
8 וַיִּרְאוּ הַתַּלְמִידִים וַיִּתְרָעֲמוּ לֵאמֹר עַל־מָה הָאִבּוּד הַזֶּה	8 But Jesus knowing {it} said to them, Why do ye trouble the woman? for she has wrought a good work toward me.
9 כִּי הַשֶּׁמֶן הַזֶּה הָיָה רָאוּי לְהִמָּכֵר בִּמְחִיר רָב וּלְתִתּוֹ לָעֲנִיִּים	9 For ye have the poor always with you, but me ye have not always.
10 וַיֵּדַע יֵשׁוּעַ וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם לָמָּה תוֹגוּ אֶת־הָאִשָּׁה הֲלֹא מַעֲשֶׂה טוֹב עָשְׂתָה עִמָּדִי	10 For in pouring out this ointment on my body, she has done it for my burying.
11 כִּי עֲנִיִּים תָּמִיד עִמָּכֶם וְאָנֹכִי אֵינֶנִּי אִתְּכֶם תָּמִיד	11 Verily I say to you, Wheresoever these glad tidings may be preached in the whole world, that also which this {woman} has done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.
12 כִּי אֲשֶׁר שָׁפְכָה אֶת־הַשֶּׁמֶן הַזֶּה עַל־גּוּפִי לַחֲנֹט אוֹתִי עָשְׂתָה זֹּאת	12 and said, What are ye willing to give me, and *I* will deliver him up to you? And they appointed to him thirty pieces of silver.
13 אָמֵן אֹמֵר אֲנִי לָכֶם בַּאֲשֶׁר תִּקָּרֵא הַבְּשׂוֹרָה הַזֹּאת בְּכָל־הָעוֹלָם גַּם אֶת־אֲשֶׁר הִיא עָשְׂתָה יְסֻפַּר לְזִכָּרוֹן לָהּ	13 And from that time he sought a good opportunity that he might deliver him up.
14 וַיֵּלֶךְ אֶחָד מִשְּׁנֵים הֶעָשָׂר הַנִּקְרָא יְהוּדָה אִישׁ־קְרִיּוֹת אֶל־רָאשֵׁי הַכֹּהֲנִים	14 And he said, Go into the city unto such a one, and say to him, The Teacher says, My time is near, I will keep the passover in thy house with my disciples.
15 וַיֹּאמֶר מַה־תִּתְּנוּ לִי וְאֶמְסְרֶנּוּ בְיֶדְכֶם וַיִּשְׁקְלוּ־לוֹ שְׁלשִׁים כָּסֶף	15 And the disciples did as Jesus had directed them, and they prepared the passover.
16 וּמִן־הָעֵת הַהִיא בִּקֵּשׁ תֹּאֲנָה לִמְסֹר אוֹתוֹ	16 And when the evening was come he lay down at table with the twelve.
17 וַיְהִי בָרִאשׁוֹן לְחַג הַמַּצּוֹת וַיִּגְּשׁוּ הַתַּלְמִידִים אֶל־יֵשׁוּעַ לֵאמֹר בְּאֵיזֶה מָקוֹם תַּחְפֹּץ כִּי־נָכִין לְךָ לֶאֱכֹל אֶת־הַפָּסַח	17 And as they were eating he said, Verily I say to you, that one of you shall deliver me up.
18 וַיֹּאמֶר לְכוּ הָעִירָה אֶל־פְּלֹנִי אַלְמֹנִי וַאֲמַרְתֶּם אֵלָיו כֹּה אָמַר הָרַב עִתִּי קְרוֹבָה הִיא וּבְבֵיתְךָ אֶעֱשֶׂה אֶת־הַפֶּסַח עִם־תַּלְמִידָי	18 And being exceedingly grieved they began to say to him, each of them, Is it *I*, Lord?
19 וַיַּעֲשֹוּ הַתַּלְמִידִים כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּם יֵשׁוּעַ וַיָּכִינוּ אֶת־הַפָּסַח	19 But he answering said, He that dips his hand with me in the dish, *he* it is who shall deliver me up.
20 וַיְהִי בָעֶרֶב וַיַּסֵּב עִם־שְׁנֵים הֶעָשָׂר	20 The Son of man goes indeed, according as it is written concerning him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is delivered up; it were good for that man if he had not been born.
21 וּבְאָכְלָם וַיֹּאמַר אָמֵן אֹמֵר אֲנִי לָכֶם כִּי־אֶחָד מִכֶּם יִמְסְרֵנִי	21 And Judas, who delivered him up, answering said, Is it *I*, Rabbi? He says to him, *Thou* hast said.
22 וַיִּתְעַצְּבוּ מְאֹד וַיָּחֵלּוּ אִישׁ אִישׁ לֵאמֹר לוֹ הֶאָנֹכִי הוּא אֲדֹנִי	22 And having taken {the} cup and given thanks, he gave {it} to them, saying, Drink ye all of it.
23 וַיַּעַן וַיֹּאמַר הָאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר טָבַל עִמִּי אֶת־יָדוֹ בַּקְּעָרָה הוּא יִמְסְרֵנִי	23 For this is my blood, that of the {new} covenant, that shed for many for remission of sins.
24 הֵן בֶּן־הָאָדָם הָלוֹךְ יֵלֶךְ־לוֹ כַּכָּתוּב עָלָיו אֲבָל אוֹי לָאִישׁ הַהוּא אֲשֶׁר עַל־יָדוֹ יִמָּסֵר בֶּן־הָאָדָם טוֹב לָאִישׁ הַהוּא אִם־לֹא נוֹלָד	24 But I say to you, that I will not at all drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in the kingdom of my Father.
25 וַיַּעַן יְהוּדָה הַמֹּסֵר אוֹתוֹ וַיֹּאמַר רַבִּי הַאֲנִי הוּא וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו אַתָּה אָמָרְתָּ	25 Depois do canto dos Salmos, dirigiram-se eles para o monte das Oliveiras.
26 וּבְאָכְלָם וַיִּקַּח יֵשׁוּעַ אֶת־הַלֶּחֶם וַיְבָרֶךְ וַיִּבְצַע וַיִּתֵּן לַתַּלְמִידִים וַיֹּאמַר קְחוּ וְאִכְלוּ זֶה הוּא גּוּפִי	26 Disse-lhes então Jesus: Esta noite serei para todos vós uma ocasião de queda; porque está escrito: Ferirei o pastor, e as ovelhas do rebanho serão dispersadas {Zc 13,7}.
27 וַיִּקַּח אֶת־הַכּוֹס וַיְבָרֶךְ וַיִּתֵּן לָהֶם לֵאמֹר שְׁתוּ מִמֶּנָּה כֻּלְּכֶם	27 Mas, depois da minha Ressurreição, eu vos precederei na Galiléia.
28 כִּי זֶה הוּא דָמִי דַּם־הַבְּרִית הַחֲדָשָׁה הַנִּשְׁפָּךְ בְּעַד רַבִּים לִסְלִיחַת חֲטָאִים	28 Pedro interveio: Mesmo que sejas para todos uma ocasião de queda, para mim jamais o serás.
29 וַאֲנִי אֹמֵר לָכֶם כִּי מֵעַתָּה שָׁתֹה לֹא אֶשְׁתֶּה מִתְּנוּבַת הַגֶּפֶן הַזֹּאת עַד הַיּוֹם הַהוּא אֲשֶׁר אֶשְׁתֶּה אֹתָהּ עִמָּכֶם חֲדָשָׁה בְּמַלְכוּת אָבִי	29 Disse-lhe Jesus: Em verdade te digo: nesta noite mesma, antes que o galo cante, três vezes me negarás.
30 וַיְהִי אַחֲרֵי גָמְרָם אֶת־הַהַלֵּל וַיֵּצְאוּ אֶל־הַר הַזֵּיתִים	30 Respondeu-lhe Pedro: Mesmo que seja necessário morrer contigo, jamais te negarei! E todos os outros discípulos diziam-lhe o mesmo.
31 אָז אָמַר אֲלֵיהֶם יֵשׁוּעַ אַתֶּם כֻּלְּכֶם תִּכָּשְׁלוּ בִי בַּלַּיְלָה הַזֶּה כִּי כָתוּב אַכֶּה אֶת־הָרֹעֶה וּתְפוּצֶיןָ הַצֹּאן	31 Retirou-se Jesus com eles para um lugar chamado Getsêmani e disse-lhes: Assentai-vos aqui, enquanto eu vou ali orar.
32 וְאַחֲרֵי קוּמִי אֵלֵךְ לִפְנֵיכֶם הַגָּלִילָה	32 E, tomando consigo Pedro e os dois filhos de Zebedeu, começou a entristecer-se e a angustiar-se.
33 וַיַּעַן פֶּטְרוֹס וַיֹּאמֶר לוֹ גַּם כִּי־יִכָּשְׁלוּ בְךָ כֻּלָּם אֲנִי לְעוֹלָם לֹא אֶכָּשֵׁל	33 Disse-lhes, então: Minha alma está triste até a morte. Ficai aqui e vigiai comigo.
34 וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו יֵשׁוּעַ אָמֵן אֹמֵר אֲנִי לְךָ כִּי בַלַּיְלָה הַזֶּה בְּטֶרֶם יִקְרָא הַתַּרְנְגוֹל תְּכַחֵשׁ בִּי שָׁלשׁ פְּעָמִים	34 Adiantou-se um pouco e, prostrando-se com a face por terra, assim rezou: Meu Pai, se é possível, afasta de mim este cálice! Todavia não se faça o que eu quero, mas sim o que tu queres.
35 וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו פֶּטְרוֹס גַּם כִּי־יִהְיֶה עָלַי לָמוּת אִתְּךָ כַּחֵשׁ לֹא אֲכַחֵשׁ בָּךְ וְכֵן אָמְרוּ גַּם כָּל־הַתַּלְמִידִים	35 Foi ter então com os discípulos e os encontrou dormindo. E disse a Pedro: Então não pudestes vigiar uma hora comigo...
36 אַחֲרֵי־כֵן בָּא אִתָּם יֵשׁוּעַ אֶל־חָצֵר הַנִּקְרָא גַּת־שְׁמָנִים וַיֹּאמֶר אֶל־הַתַּלְמִידִים שְׁבוּ לָכֶם פֹּה עַד־אֲשֶׁר אֵלֵךְ שָׁמָּה וְהִתְפַּלָּלְתִּי	36 Vigiai e orai para que não entreis em tentação. O espírito está pronto, mas a carne é fraca.
37 וַיִּקַּח אִתּוֹ אֶת־פֶּטְרוֹס וְאֶת־שְׁנֵי בְּנֵי זַבְדָּי וַיָּחֶל לְהֵעָצֵב וְלָמוּג	37 Afastou-se pela segunda vez e orou, dizendo: Meu Pai, se não é possível que este cálice passe sem que eu o beba, faça-se a tua vontade!
38 וַיֹּאמֶר לָהֶם נַפְשִׁי מָרָה־לִי עַד־מָוֶת עִמְדוּ פֹה וְשִׁקְדוּ עִמִּי	38 Voltou ainda e os encontrou novamente dormindo, porque seus olhos estavam pesados.
39 וַיֵּלֶךְ מְעַט הָלְאָה וַיִּפֹּל עַל־פָּנָיו וַיִּתְפַּלֵּל לֵאמֹר אָבִי אִם־יוּכַל לִהְיוֹת תַּעֲבָר־נָא מֵעָלַי הַכּוֹס הַזֹּאת אַךְ לֹא כִרְצוֹנִי כִּי אִם־כִּרְצוֹנֶךָ	39 Deixou-os e foi orar pela terceira vez, dizendo as mesmas palavras.
40 וַיָּבֹא אֶל־הַתַּלְמִידִים וַיִּמְצָאֵם יְשֵׁנִים וַיֹּאמֶר אֶל־פֶּטְרוֹס הִנֵּה לֹא־הָיָה בִיכָלְתְּכֶם לִשְׁקֹד עִמִּי שָׁעָה אֶחָת	40 Voltou então para os seus discípulos e disse-lhes: Dormi agora e repousai! Chegou a hora: o Filho do Homem vai ser entregue nas mãos dos pecadores...
41 שִׁקְדוּ וְהִתְפַּלְלוּ פֶּן־תָּבֹאוּ לִידֵי נִסָּיוֹן הֵן הָרוּחַ הִיא חֲפֵצָה וְהַבָּשָׂר הוּא רָפֶה	41 Levantai-vos, vamos! Aquele que me trai está perto daqui.
42 וַיּוֹסֶף לָלֶכֶת־לוֹ שֵׁנִית וַיִּתְפַּלֵּל לֵאמֹר אָבִי אִם־לֹא תוּכַל הַכּוֹס הַזֹּאת לַעֲבֹר מִמֶּנִּי מִבְּלִי שְׁתוֹתִי אֹתָהּ יְהִי כִּרְצוֹנֶךָ	42 Jesus ainda falava, quando veio Judas, um dos Doze, e com ele uma multidão de gente armada de espadas e cacetes, enviada pelos príncipes dos sacerdotes e pelos anciãos do povo.
43 וַיָּבֹא וַיִּמְצָאֵם גַּם בַּפַּעַם הַזֹּאת יְשֵׁנִים כִּי עֵינֵיהֶם הָיוּ כְבֵדוֹת	43 O traidor combinara com eles este sinal: Aquele que eu beijar, é ele. Prendei-o!
44 וַיַּנִּיחֵם וַיּוֹסֶף לָלֶכֶת וַיִּתְפַּלֵּל שְׁלִישִׁית בְּאָמְרוֹ עוֹד־הַפַּעַם כַּדָּבָר הַזֶּה	44 Aproximou-se imediatamente de Jesus e disse: Salve, Mestre. E beijou-o.
45 וַיָּבֹא אֶל־הַתַּלְמִידִים וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם נוּמוּ מֵעַתָּה וְנוּחוּ הִנֵּה הַשָּׁעָה קְרוֹבָה וּבֶן־הָאָדָם נִמְסָר לִידֵי חַטָּאִים	45 Disse-lhe Jesus: É, então, para isso que vens aqui? Em seguida, adiantaram-se eles e lançaram mão em Jesus para prendê-lo.
46 קוּמוּ וְנֵלֵכָה הִנֵּה הוֹלֵךְ וְקָרֵב הַמֹּסֵר אוֹתִי	46 Mas um dos companheiros de Jesus desembainhou a espada e feriu um servo do sumo sacerdote, decepando-lhe a orelha.
47 עוֹדֶנּוּ מְדַבֵּר וְהִנֵּה־בָא יְהוּדָה אֶחָד מִשְּׁנֵים הֶעָשָׂר וְעִמּוֹ הָמוֹן רָב בַּחֲרָבוֹת וּבְמַקְּלוֹת מֵאֵת רָאשֵׁי הַכֹּהֲנִים וְזִקְנֵי הָעָם	47 Jesus, no entanto, lhe disse: Embainha tua espada, porque todos aqueles que usarem da espada, pela espada morrerão.
48 וְהַמֹּסֵר אֹתוֹ נָתַן לָהֶם אוֹת לֵאמֹר הָאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר אֶשָּׁקֵהוּ זֶה הוּא תִּפְשֹוּהוּ	48 Crês tu que não posso invocar meu Pai e ele não me enviaria imediatamente mais de doze legiões de anjos?
49 וּמִיָּד נִגַּשׁ אֶל־יֵשׁוּעַ וַיֹּאמֶר שָׁלוֹם לְךָ רַבִּי וַיְנַשֶּׁק־לוֹ	49 Mas como se cumpririam então as Escrituras, segundo as quais é preciso que seja assim?
50 וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו יֵשׁוּעַ רֵעִי עַל־מֶה בָאתָ וַיִּגְּשׁוּ וַיִּשְׁלְחוּ אֶת־יְדֵיהֶם בְּיֵשׁוּעַ וַיִּתְפְּשֹוּ אֹתוֹ	50 Depois, voltando-se para a turba, falou: Saístes armados de espadas e porretes para prender-me, como se eu fosse um malfeitor. Entretanto, todos os dias estava eu sentado entre vós ensinando no templo e não me prendestes.
51 וְהִנֵּה אֶחָד מִן־הָאֲנָשִׁים אֲשֶׁר עִם־יֵשׁוּעַ שָׁלַח יָדוֹ וַיִּשְׁלֹף חַרְבּוֹ וַיַּךְ אֶת־עֶבֶד הַכֹּהֵן הַגָּדוֹל וַיְקַצֵּץ אֶת־אָזְנוֹ	51 Mas tudo isto aconteceu porque era necessário que se cumprissem os oráculos dos profetas. Então os discípulos o abandonaram e fugiram.
52 וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו יֵשׁוּעַ הָשֵׁב אֶת־חַרְבְּךָ אֶל־תַּעְרָהּ כִּי כָּל־אֹחֲזֵי חֶרֶב בַּחֶרֶב יֹאבֵדוּ	52 Os que haviam prendido Jesus levaram-no à casa do sumo sacerdote Caifás, onde estavam reunidos os escribas e os anciãos do povo.
53 אוֹ הֲיַחְשֹׁב לִבְּךָ כִּי לֹא יָכֹלְתִּי לִשְׁאֹל עַתָּה מֵאֵת אָבִי וְהוּא יְצַוֶּה־לִּי יוֹתֵר מִשְּׁנֵים עָשָׂר לִגְיוֹנוֹת שֶׁל־מַלְאָכִים	53 Pedro seguia-o de longe, até o pátio do sumo sacerdote. Entrou e sentou-se junto aos criados para ver como terminaria aquilo.
54 וְאֵיכָכָה אֵפוֹא יִמָּלְאוּ הַכְּתוּבִים כִּי־כֵן הָיֹה תִהְיֶה	54 Enquanto isso, os príncipes dos sacerdotes e todo o conselho procuravam um falso testemunho contra Jesus, a fim de o levarem à morte.
55 בַּשָּׁעָה הַהִיא אָמַר יֵשׁוּעַ אֶל־הֲמוֹן הָעָם כְּעַל־פָּרִיץ יְצָאתֶם בַּחֲרָבוֹת וּבְמַקְּלוֹת לְתָפְשֵׂנִי וְיוֹם יוֹם הָיִיתִי ישֵׁב וּמְלַמֵּד אֶצְלְכֶם בַּמִּקְדָּשׁ וְלֹא הֶחֱזַקְתֶּם בִּי	55 Mas não o conseguiram, embora se apresentassem muitas falsas testemunhas.
56 וְכָל־זֹאת הָיְתָה לְמַלֹּאת כִּתְבֵי הַנְּבִיאִים אָז עֲזָבוּהוּ הַתַּלְמִידִים כֻּלָּם וַיָּנוּסוּ	56 Por fim, apresentaram-se duas testemunhas, que disseram: Este homem disse: Posso destruir o templo de Deus e reedificá-lo em três dias.
57 וְהָאֲנָשִׁים אֲשֶׁר תָּפְשֹוּ אֶת־יֵשׁוּעַ הוֹלִיכֻהוּ אֶל־קַיָּפָא הַכֹּהֵן הַגָּדוֹל אֲשֶׁר נִקְהֲלוּ־שָׁם הַסּוֹפְרִים וְהַזְּקֵנִים	57 Levantou-se o sumo sacerdote e lhe perguntou: Nada tens a responder ao que essa gente depõe contra ti?
58 וּפֶטְרוֹס הֹלֵךְ אַחֲרָיו מֵרָחוֹק עַד לַחֲצַר הַכֹּהֵן הַגָּדוֹל וַיָּבֹא פְנִימָה וַיֵּשֶׁב לוֹ אֵצֶל הַמְשָׁרְתִים לִרְאוֹת אֶת־אַחֲרִית הַדָּבָר	58 Jesus, no entanto, permanecia calado. Disse-lhe o sumo sacerdote: Por Deus vivo, conjuro-te que nos digas se és o Cristo, o Filho de Deus?
59 וְהַכֹּהֲנִים הַגְּדוֹלִים וְהַסּוֹפְרִים וְכָל־הַסַּנְהֶדְרִין בִּקְשׁוּ עֵדוּת שֶׁקֶר בְּיֵשׁוּעַ לַהֲמִיתוֹ וְלֹא מָצָאוּ	59 Jesus respondeu: Sim. Além disso, eu vos declaro que vereis doravante o Filho do Homem sentar-se à direita do Todo-poderoso, e voltar sobre as nuvens do céu.
60 וְאַף בַּעֲמֹד שָׁם עֵדֵי שֶׁקֶר רַבִּים לֹא מָצָאוּ וּבָאַחֲרוֹנָה נִגְּשׁוּ שְׁנֵי עֵדֵי שָׁקֶר	60 A estas palavras, o sumo sacerdote rasgou suas vestes, exclamando: Que necessidade temos ainda de testemunhas? Acabastes de ouvir a blasfêmia!
61 וַיֹּאמְרוּ זֶה אָמַר יֵשׁ בִּיכָלְתִּי לַהֲרֹס אֶת־הֵיכַל הָאֱלֹהִים וְלָשׁוּב לִבְנוֹתוֹ בִּשְׁלשֶׁת יָמִים	61 Qual o vosso parecer? Eles responderam: Merece a morte!
62 וַיָּקָם הַכֹּהֵן הַגָּדוֹל וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו הַאֵינְךָ מֵשִׁיב דָּבָר עַל־אֲשֶׁר עָנוּ־בְךָ אֵלֶּה	62 Cuspiram-lhe então na face, bateram-lhe com os punhos e deram-lhe tapas,
63 וְיֵשׁוּעַ הֶחֱרִישׁ וַיַּעַן הַכֹּהֵן הַגָּדוֹל וַיֹּאמֶר לוֹ מַשְׁבִּיעֲךָ אֲנִי בֵּאלֹהִים חַיִּים שֶׁתֹּאמַר לָנוּ אִם־אַתָּה הוּא הַמָּשִׁיחַ בֶּן־הָאֱלֹהִים	63 dizendo: Adivinha, ó Cristo: quem te bateu?
64 וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו יֵשׁוּעַ אַתָּה אָמָרְתָּ אֲבָל אֲנִי אֹמֵר לָכֶם כִּי מֵעַתָּה תִּרְאוּ אֶת־בֶּן־הָאָדָם ישֵׁב לִימִין הַגְּבוּרָה וּבָא עִם־עַנְנֵי הַשָּׁמָיִם	64 Enquanto isso, Pedro estava sentado no pátio. Aproximou-se dele uma das servas, dizendo: Também tu estavas com Jesus, o Galileu.
65 וַיִּקְרַע הַכֹּהֵן הַגָּדוֹל אֶת־בְּגָדָיו וַיֹּאמַר הוּא גִדֵּף וּמַה־לָּנוּ עוֹד לְבַקֵּשׁ עֵדִים הִנֵּה עַתָּה שְׁמַעְתֶּם אֶת־גִּדּוּפוֹ	65 Mas ele negou publicamente, nestes termos: Não sei o que dizes.
66 מַה־דַּעְתְּכֶם וַיַּעֲנוּ וַיֹּאמְרוּ אִישׁ־מָוֶת הוּא	66 Dirigia-se ele para a porta, a fim de sair, quando outra criada o viu e disse aos que lá estavam: Este homem também estava com Jesus de Nazaré.
67 וַיָּרֹקּוּ בְּפָנָיו וַיַּכֻּהוּ בְאֶגְרוֹף וַאֲחֵרִים הִכֻּהוּ עַל־הַלֶּחִי	67 Pedro, pela segunda vez, negou com juramento: Eu nem conheço tal homem.
68 וַיֹּאמְרוּ הִנָּבֵא לָנוּ הַמָּשִׁיחַ מִי הוּא הַמַּכֶּה אוֹתָךְ	68 Pouco depois, os que ali estavam aproximaram-se de Pedro e disseram: Sim, tu és daqueles; teu modo de falar te dá a conhecer.
69 וּפֶטְרוֹס יָשַׁב מִחוּץ לַבַּיִת בֶּחָצֵר וַתִּגַּשׁ אֵלָיו שִׁפְחָה לֵאמֹר גַּם־אַתָּה הָיִיתָ עִם־יֵשׁוּעַ הַגְּלִילִי	69 Pedro então começou a fazer imprecações, jurando que nem sequer conhecia tal homem. E, neste momento, cantou o galo.
70 וַיְכַחֵשׁ בִּפְנֵי כֻלָּם לֵאמֹר לֹא יָדַעְתִּי מָה־אַתְּ אֹמָרֶת	70 Pedro recordou-se do que Jesus lhe dissera: Antes que o galo cante, negar-me-ás três vezes. E saindo, chorou amargamente.
71 וַיֵּצֵא אֶל־פֶּתַח הַשַּׁעַר וַתֵּרֶא אוֹתוֹ אַחֶרֶת וַתֹּאמֶר לָאֲנָשִׁים אֲשֶׁר־שָׁם גַּם־זֶה הָיָה עִם־יֵשׁוּעַ הַנָּצְרִי
72 וַיּוֹסֶף לְכַחֵשׁ וַיִּשָּׁבַע לֵאמֹר לֹא יָדַעְתִּי אֶת־הָאִישׁ
73 וְכִמְעַט אַחֲרֵי־כֵן וַיִּגְּשׁוּ הָעֹמְדִים שָׁם וַיֹּאמְרוּ אֶל־פֶּטְרוֹס אֱמֶת כִּי גַם־אַתָּה מֵהֶם כִּי גַם־לְשׁוֹנְךָ מְגַלָּה אוֹתָךְ
74 וַיָּחֶל לְהַחֲרִים אֶת־נַפְשׁוֹ וּלְהִשָּׁבֵעַ לֵאמֹר לֹא יָדַעְתִּי אֶת־הָאִישׁ וּמִיָּד קָרָא הַתַּרְנְגוֹל
75 וַיִּזְכֹּר פֶּטְרוֹס אֶת־דְּבַר יֵשׁוּעַ אֲשֶׁר אָמַר אֵלָיו לֵאמֹר בְּטֶרֶם יִקְרָא הַתַּרְנְגוֹל תְּכַחֵשׁ בִּי שָׁלשׁ פְּעָמִים וַיֵּצֵא הַחוּצָה וַיְמָרֵר בַּבֶּכִי
