Segunda Epístola aos Coríntios 7

1 Depositários de tais promessas, caríssimos, purifiquemo-nos de toda imundície da carne e do espírito, realizando plenamente nossa santificação no temor de Deus.	1 Therefore, having these promises, most beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of the flesh and of the spirit, perfecting sanctification in the fear of God.
2 Acolhei-nos dentro do vosso coração. A ninguém temos ofendido, a ninguém temos arruinado, a ninguém temos enganado.	2 Consider us. We have injured no one; we have corrupted no one; we have defrauded no one.
3 Não vos digo isto por vos condenar, pois já vos declaramos que estais em nosso coração, conosco unidos na morte e unidos na vida.	3 I am not saying this to your condemnation. For we have told you before that you are in our hearts: to die together and to live together.
4 Tenho grande confiança em vós. Grande é o motivo de me gloriar de vós. Estou cheio de consolação, transbordo de gozo em todas as nossas tribulações.	4 Great is my confidence in you. Great is my glorying over you. I have been filled with consolation. I have a superabundant joy throughout all our tribulation.
5 De fato, à nossa chegada em Macedônia, nenhum repouso teve o nosso corpo. Eram aflições de todos os lados, combates por fora, temores por dentro.	5 Then, too, when we had arrived in Macedonia, our flesh had no rest. Instead, we suffered every tribulation: exterior conflicts, interior fears.
6 Deus, porém, que consola os humildes, confortou-nos com a chegada de Tito;	6 But God, who consoles the humble, consoled us by the arrival of Titus,
7 e não somente com a sua chegada, mas também com a consolação que ele recebeu de vós. Ele nos contou o vosso ardor, as vossas lágrimas, a vossa solicitude por mim, de modo que ainda mais me regozijei.	7 and not only by his arrival, but also by the consolation with which he was consoled among you. For he brought to us your desire, your weeping, your zeal for me, so that I rejoiced all the more.
8 Se minha carta vos penalizou, não me arrependo. Se a princípio o senti {porque vejo que, ao menos por um momento, essa carta vos penalizou},	8 For though I made you sorrowful by my epistle, I do not repent. And if I did repent, but only for a time, having realized that the same epistle made you sorrowful,
9 agora me alegro, não porque fostes entristecidos, mas porque esta tristeza vos levou à penitência. Pois fostes entristecidos segundo Deus, de modo que nenhum dano sofrestes de nossa parte.	9 now I am glad: not because you were sorrowful, but because you were sorrowful unto repentance. For you became sorrowful for God, so that you might not suffer any harm from us.
10 De fato, a tristeza segundo Deus produz um arrependimento salutar de que ninguém se arrepende, enquanto a tristeza do mundo produz a morte.	10 For the sorrow that is according to God accomplishes a repentance which is steadfast unto salvation. But the sorrow that is of the world accomplishes death.
11 Vede, pois, que solicitude operou em vós a tristeza segundo Deus! Muito mais: que excusas! Que indignação! Que temor! Que ardor! Que zelo! Que severidade! Mostrastes em tudo que não tínheis culpa neste assunto.	11 So consider this same idea, being sorrowful according to God, and what great solicitude it accomplishes in you: including protection, and indignation, and fear, and desire, and zeal, and vindication. In all things, you have shown yourselves to be uncorrupted by this sorrow.
12 Portanto, se vos escrevi, não o fiz por causa daquele que cometeu a ofensa, nem por causa do ofendido; foi para que se manifestasse a vossa dedicação por mim diante de Deus.	12 And so, though I wrote to you, it was not because of him who caused the injury, nor because of him who suffered from it, but so as to manifest our solicitude, which we have for you before God.
13 Eis o que nos tem consolado. Mas, acima desta consolação, o que nos deixou sobremaneira contentes foi a alegria de Tito, cujo coração tranqüilizastes.	13 Therefore, we have been consoled. But in our consolation, we have rejoiced even more abundantly over the joy of Titus, because his spirit was refreshed by all of you.
14 Se me gloriei de vós em presença dele, não fui envergonhado. Pois, assim como tudo o que vos temos dito foi conforme a verdade, assim também o louvor que de vós fizemos a Tito demonstrou-se verdadeiro.	14 And if I have gloried in anything to him about you, I have not been put to shame. But, just as we have spoken all things to you in truth, so also our glorying before Titus has been the truth.
15 A sua afeição por vós é cada vez maior, quando se lembra da obediência que todos vós lhe testemunhastes, de como o recebestes com respeito e deferência.	15 And his feelings are now more abundant toward you, since he remembers the obedience of you all, and how you received him with fear and trembling.
16 Alegro-me por poder contar convosco em tudo.	16 I rejoice that in all things I have confidence in you.
