Deuteronômio 22

SAGRADA BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Se vires extraviado o boi ou a ovelha de teu irmão, não te desviaras mas reconduzi-los-ás ao teu irmão.	1 'If you see your brother's ox or one of his sheep straying, you must not disregard it: you must take itback to your brother.
2 Se este habitar longe, ou se não o conheceres, levarás o animal para a tua casa e ele aí ficará até que seja reclamado pelo teu irmão: então lho entregarás.	2 And if he is not close at hand or you do not know who he is, you must take it home with you and keepit by you until your brother comes to look for it; you wil then return it to him.
3 O mesmo farás com o seu jumento, com o seu manto e com qualquer objeto perdido por teu irmão e encontrado por ti. Não te desviarás desse objeto.	3 'You must do the same with his donkey, the same with his cloak, the same with anything that yourbrother loses and that you find; you must not disregard it.
4 Se vires o jumento ou o, boi de teu irmão caídos no caminho, não voltarás os olhos para o lado, mas ajudá-lo-ás a levantá-los.	4 'If you see your brother's donkey or ox fal over on the road, you must not disregard it, but must helpyour brother get it on its feet again.
5 A mulher não se vestirá de homem, nem o homem se vestirá de mulher: aquele que o fizer será abominável diante do Senhor, seu Deus.	5 'A woman must not dress like a man, nor a man like a woman; anyone who does this is detestable toYahweh your God.
6 Se encontrares no caminho, sobre uma árvore ou na terra, o ninho de uma ave, e a mãe posta sobre os filhotes ou sobre os ovos, não a apanharás com os filhotes.	6 'If, when out walking, you come across a bird's nest, in a tree or on the ground, with chicks or eggsand the mother bird sitting on the chicks or the eggs, you must not take the mother as wel as the chicks.
7 Deixarás partir a mãe e só tomarás os filhotes, para que se prolonguem os teus dias felizes.	7 Let the mother go; the young you may take for yourself. Thus wil you have prosperity and long life.
8 Quando construíres uma casa nova, farás uma balaustrada em volta do teto, para que não se derrame sangue sobre a tua casa, se viesse alguém a cair lá de cima.	8 'When you build a new house, you must give your roof a parapet; then your house will not incur blood-vengeance, should anyone fal off the top.
9 Não semearás em tua vinha várias espécies de sementes, para que se não considere tudo consagrado: o grão semeado e o produto da vinha.	9 'You must not sow any other crop in your vineyard, or the whole yield may become forfeit, both thecrop you have sown and the yield of your vines.
10 Não lavrarás com um boi e um jumento atrelados juntos.	10 'You must not plough with ox and donkey together.
11 Não trarás sobre ti uma veste de diferentes tecidos: lã e linho misturados.	11 'You must not wear clothing woven part of wool, part of linen.
12 Porás no manto com que te cobrires borlas nos seus quatro cantos.	12 'You must make tassels for the four corners of the cloak in which you wrap yourself.
13 Se um homem, depois de ter desposado uma mulher e a ter conhecido, vier a odiá-la,	13 'If a man marries a woman, has sexual intercourse with her and then, turning against her,
14 e, imputando-lhe faltas desonrosas, se puser a difamá-la, dizendo: desposei esta mulher e, ao aproximar-me dela, descobri que ela não era virgem,	14 taxes her with misconduct and publicly defames her by saying, "I married this woman and when Ihad sexual intercourse with her I did not find evidence of her virginity,"
15 então o pai e a mãe da donzela tomarão as provas de sua virgindade e as apresentarão aos anciães da cidade, à porta.	15 the girl's father and mother must take the evidence of her virginity and produce it before the elders ofthe town, at the gate.
16 O pai dirá aos anciães: dei minha filha por mulher a este homem, mas porque ele lhe tem aversão,	16 To the elders, the girl's father wil say, "I gave this man my daughter for a wife and he has turnedagainst her,
17 eis que agora lhe imputa faltas desonrosas, pretendendo não ter encontrado nela as marcas da virgindade. Ora, eis aqui as provas da virgindade de minha filha. E estenderão diante dos anciãos da cidade a veste de sua filha.	17 and now he taxes her with misconduct, saying, I have found no evidence of virginity in your daughter.Here is the evidence of my daughter's virginity!"
18 E os anciãos da cidade tomarão aquele homem e fá-lo-ão castigar,	18 They must then display the cloth to the elders of the town.
19 impondo-lhe, além disso, uma multa, de cem siclos de prata, que eles darão ao pai da jovem em reparação da calúnia levantada contra uma virgem de Israel. E ela continuará sua mulher sem que ele jamais possa repudiá-la.	19 The elders of the town in question wil have the man arrested and flogged, and fine him a hundredsilver shekels for publicly defaming a virgin of Israel, and give this money to the girl's father. She wil remain his wife; as long as he lives, he may not divorce her.
20 Se, porém, o fato for verídico e não se tiverem comprovado as marcas de virgindade da jovem,	20 'But if the accusation that the girl cannot show evidence of virginity is substantiated,
21 esta será conduzida ao limiar da casa paterna, e os habitantes de sua cidade a apedrejarão até que morra, porque cometeu uma infâmia em Israel, prostituindo-se na casa de seu pai. Assim, tirarás o mal do meio de ti.	21 she must be taken out, and at the door of her father's house her fellow-citizens must stone her todeath for having committed an infamy in Israel by bringing disgrace on her father's family. You must banish thisevil from among you.
22 Se se encontrar um homem dormindo com uma mulher casada, todos os dois deverão morrer: o homem que dormiu com a mulher, e esta da mesma forma. Assim, tirarás o mal do meio de ti.	22 'If a man is caught having sexual intercourse with another man's wife, both must be put to death: theman who has slept with her and the woman herself. You must banish this evil from Israel.
23 Se uma virgem se tiver casado, e um homem, encontrando-a na cidade, dormir com ela,	23 'If a virgin is engaged to a man, and another man encounters her in the town and has sexualintercourse with her,
24 conduzireis um e outro à porta da cidade e os apedrejareis até que morram: a donzela, porque, estando na cidade, não gritou, e o homem por ter violado a mulher do seu próximo. Assim, tirarás o mal do meio de ti.	24 you will take them both to the gate of the town in question and stone them to death: the girl, for nothaving cal ed for help in the town; the man, for having exploited his fel ow-citizen's wife. You must banish thisevil from among you.
25 Mas se foi no campo que o homem encontrou a jovem e lhe fez violência para dormir com ela, nesse caso só ele deverá morrer,	25 But if the man ran into the betrothed girl in the open country and slept with her, having taken her byforce, her ravisher alone must die;
26 e nada fareis à jovem, que não cometeu uma falta digna de morte, porque é um caso similar ao do homem que se atira sobre o seu próximo e o mata:	26 you must do nothing to the girl, she has not committed a capital offence. The case is like that of aman who attacks and kil s his fel ow:
27 foi no campo que o homem a encontrou; a jovem gritou, mas não havia ninguém que a socorresse.	27 since he came across her in the open country, the betrothed girl may have cal ed out, withoutanyone's coming to her rescue.
28 Se um homem encontrar uma jovem virgem, que não seja casada, e, tomando-a, dormir com ela, e forem apanhados,	28 'If a man meets a young virgin who is not betrothed and seizes her, sleeps with her and is caught inthe act,
29 esse homem dará ao pai da jovem cinqüenta siclos de prata, e ela tornar-se-á sua mulher. Como a deflorou, não poderá repudiá-la em todos os dias de sua vida.	29 her ravisher must give the girl's father fifty silver shekels; since he has exploited her, she must be hiswife and, as long as he lives, he may not divorce her.'
30 Ninguém desposará a mulher de seu pai, nem levantará a cobertura do leito paterno.
