1 Em dia de sábado, Jesus atravessava umas plantações; seus discípulos iam colhendo espigas {de trigo}, as debulhavam na mão e comiam.	1 Now it happened that, on the second first Sabbath, as he passed through the grain field, his disciples were separating the ears of grain and eating them, by rubbing them in their hands.
2 Alguns dos fariseus lhes diziam: Por que fazeis o que não é permitido no sábado?	2 Then certain Pharisees said to them, “Why are you doing what is not lawful on the Sabbaths?”
3 Jesus respondeu: Acaso não tendes lido o que fez Davi, quando teve fome, ele e os seus companheiros;	3 And responding to them, Jesus said: “Have you not read this, what David did when he was hungry, and those who were with him?
4 como entrou na casa de Deus e tomou os pães da proposição e deles comeu e deu de comer aos seus companheiros, se bem que só aos sacerdotes era permitido comê-los?	4 How he entered into the house of God, and took the bread of the Presence, and ate it, and gave it to those who were with him, though it is not lawful for anyone to eat it, except the priests alone?”
5 E ajuntou: O Filho do Homem é senhor também do sábado.	5 And he said to them, “For the Son of man is Lord, even of the Sabbath.”
6 Em outro dia de sábado, Jesus entrou na sinagoga e ensinava. Achava-se ali um homem que tinha a mão direita seca.	6 And it happened that, on another Sabbath, he entered into the synagogue, and he taught. And there was a man there, and his right hand was withered.
7 Ora, os escribas e os fariseus observavam Jesus para ver se ele curaria no dia de sábado. Eles teriam então pretexto para acusá-lo.	7 And the scribes and Pharisees observed whether he would heal on the Sabbath, so that they might thereby find an accusation against him.
8 Mas Jesus conhecia os pensamentos deles e disse ao homem que tinha a mão seca: Levanta-te e põe-te em pé, aqui no meio. Ele se levantou e ficou em pé.	8 Yet truly, he knew their thoughts, and so he said to the man who had the withered hand, “Rise up and stand in the middle.” And rising up, he stood still.
9 Disse-lhes Jesus: Pergunto-vos se no sábado é permitido fazer o bem ou o mal; salvar a vida, ou deixá-la perecer.	9 Then Jesus said to them: “I ask you if it is lawful on the Sabbaths to do good, or to do evil? To give health to a life, or to destroy it?”
10 E relanceando os olhos sobre todos, disse ao homem: Estende tua mão. Ele a estendeu, e foi-lhe restabelecida a mão.	10 And looking around at everyone, he said to the man, “Extend your hand.” And he extended it. And his hand was restored.
11 Mas eles encheram-se de furor e indagavam uns aos outros o que fariam a Jesus.	11 Then they were filled with madness, and they discussed with one another, what, in particular, they might do about Jesus.
12 Naqueles dias, Jesus retirou-se a uma montanha para rezar, e passou aí toda a noite orando a Deus.	12 And it happened that, in those days, he went out to a mountain to pray. And he was in the prayer of God throughout the night.
13 Ao amanhecer, chamou os seus discípulos e escolheu doze dentre eles que chamou de apóstolos:	13 And when daylight had arrived, he called his disciples. And he chose twelve out of them (whom he also named Apostles):
14 Simão, a quem deu o sobrenome de Pedro; André, seu irmão; Tiago, João, Filipe, Bartolomeu,	14 Simon, whom he surnamed Peter, and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew,
15 Mateus, Tomé, Tiago, filho de Alfeu; Simão, chamado Zelador;	15 Matthew and Thomas, James of Alphaeus, and Simon who is called the Zealot,
16 Judas, irmão de Tiago; e Judas Iscariotes, aquele que foi o traidor.	16 and Jude of James, and Judas Iscariot, who was a traitor.
17 Descendo com eles, parou numa planície. Aí se achava um grande número de seus discípulos e uma grande multidão de pessoas vindas da Judéia, de Jerusalém, da região marítima, de Tiro e Sidônia, que tinham vindo para ouvi-lo e ser curadas das suas enfermidades.	17 And descending with them, he stood in a level place with a multitude of his disciples, and a copious multitude of people from all of Judea and Jerusalem and the seacoast, and Tyre and Sidon,
18 E os que eram atormentados dos espíritos imundos ficavam livres.	18 who had come so that they might listen to him and be healed of their diseases. And those who were troubled by unclean spirits were cured.
19 Todo o povo procurava tocá-lo, pois saía dele uma força que os curava a todos.	19 And the entire crowd was trying to touch him, because power went out from him and healed all.
20 Então ele ergueu os olhos para os seus discípulos e disse: Bem-aventurados vós que sois pobres, porque vosso é o Reino de Deus!	20 And lifting up his eyes to his disciples, he said: “Blessed are you poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.
21 Bem-aventurados vós que agora tendes fome, porque sereis fartos! Bem-aventurados vós que agora chorais, porque vos alegrareis!	21 Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you shall be satisfied. Blessed are you who are weeping now, for you shall laugh.
22 Bem-aventurados sereis quando os homens vos odiarem, vos expulsarem, vos ultrajarem, e quando repelirem o vosso nome como infame por causa do Filho do Homem!	22 Blessed shall you be when men will have hated you, and when they will have separated you and reproached you, and thrown out your name as if evil, because of the Son of man.
23 Alegrai-vos naquele dia e exultai, porque grande é o vosso galardão no céu. Era assim que os pais deles tratavam os profetas.	23 Be glad in that day and exult. For behold, your reward is great in heaven. For these same things their fathers did to the prophets.
24 Mas ai de vós, ricos, porque tendes a vossa consolação!	24 Yet truly, woe to you who are wealthy, for you have your consolation.
25 Ai de vós, que estais fartos, porque vireis a ter fome! Ai de vós, que agora rides, porque gemereis e chorareis!	25 Woe to you who are satisfied, for you will be hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep.
26 Ai de vós, quando vos louvarem os homens, porque assim faziam os pais deles aos falsos profetas!	26 Woe to you when men will have blessed you. For these same things their fathers did to the false prophets.
27 Digo-vos a vós que me ouvis: amai os vossos inimigos, fazei bem aos que vos odeiam,	27 But I say to you who are listening: Love your enemies. Do good to those who hate you.
28 abençoai os que vos maldizem e orai pelos que vos injuriam.	28 Bless those who curse you, and pray for those who slander you.
29 Ao que te ferir numa face, oferece-lhe também a outra. E ao que te tirar a capa, não impeças de levar também a túnica.	29 And to him who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also. And from him who takes away your coat, do not withhold even your tunic.
30 Dá a todo o que te pedir; e ao que tomar o que é teu, não lho reclames.	30 But distribute to all who ask of you. And do not ask again of him who takes away what is yours.
31 O que quereis que os homens vos façam, fazei-o também a eles.	31 And exactly as you would want people to treat you, treat them also the same.
32 Se amais os que vos amam, que recompensa mereceis? Também os pecadores amam aqueles que os amam.	32 And if you love those who love you, what credit is due to you? For even sinners love those who love them.
33 E se fazeis bem aos que vos fazem bem, que recompensa mereceis? Pois o mesmo fazem também os pecadores.	33 And if you will do good to those who do good to you, what credit is due to you? Indeed, even sinners behave this way.
34 Se emprestais àqueles de quem esperais receber, que recompensa mereceis? Também os pecadores emprestam aos pecadores, para receberem outro tanto.	34 And if you will loan to those from whom you hope to receive, what credit is due to you? For even sinners lend to sinners, in order to receive the same in return.
35 Pelo contrário, amai os vossos inimigos, fazei bem e emprestai, sem daí esperar nada. E grande será a vossa recompensa e sereis filhos do Altíssimo, porque ele é bom para com os ingratos e maus.	35 So truly, love your enemies. Do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return. And then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he himself is kind to the ungrateful and to the wicked.
36 Sede misericordiosos, como também vosso Pai é misericordioso.	36 Therefore, be merciful, just as your Father is also merciful.
37 Não julgueis, e não sereis julgados; não condeneis, e não sereis condenados; perdoai, e sereis perdoados;	37 Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
38 dai, e dar-se-vos-á. Colocar-vos-ão no regaço medida boa, cheia, recalcada e transbordante, porque, com a mesma medida com que medirdes, sereis medidos vós também.	38 Give, and it will be given to you: a good measure, pressed down and shaken together and overflowing, they will place upon your lap. Certainly, the same measure that you use to measure out, will be used to measure back to you again.”
39 Propôs-lhes também esta comparação: Pode acaso um cego guiar outro cego? Não cairão ambos na cova?	39 Now he told them another comparison: “How can the blind lead the blind? Would they not both fall into a pit?
40 O discípulo não é superior ao mestre; mas todo discípulo perfeito será como o seu mestre.	40 The disciple is not above his teacher. But each one will be perfected, if he is like his teacher.
41 Por que vês tu o argueiro no olho de teu irmão e não reparas na trave que está no teu olho?	41 And why do you see the straw that is in your brother’s eye, while the log that is in your own eye, you do not consider?
42 Ou como podes dizer a teu irmão: Deixa-me, irmão, tirar de teu olho o argueiro, quando tu não vês a trave no teu olho? Hipócrita, tira primeiro a trave do teu olho e depois enxergarás para tirar o argueiro do olho de teu irmão.	42 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, allow me to remove the straw from your eye,’ while you yourself do not see the log in your own eye? Hypocrite, first remove the log from your own eye, and then will you see clearly, so that you may lead out the straw from your brother’s eye.
43 Uma árvore boa não dá frutos maus, uma árvore má não dá bom fruto.	43 For there is no good tree which produces bad fruit, nor does an evil tree produce good fruit.
44 Porquanto cada árvore se conhece pelo seu fruto. Não se colhem figos dos espinheiros, nem se apanham uvas dos abrolhos.	44 For each and every tree is known by its fruit. For they do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather the grape from the bramble bush.
45 O homem bom tira coisas boas do bom tesouro do seu coração, e o homem mau tira coisas más do seu mau tesouro, porque a boca fala daquilo de que o coração está cheio.	45 A good man, from the good storehouse of his heart, offers what is good. And an evil man, from the evil storehouse, offers what is evil. For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.
46 Por que me chamais: Senhor, Senhor... e não fazeis o que digo?	46 But why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I say?
47 Todo aquele que vem a mim ouve as minhas palavras e as pratica, eu vos mostrarei a quem é semelhante.	47 Anyone who comes to me, and listens to my words, and does them: I will reveal to you what he is like.
48 É semelhante ao homem que, edificando uma casa, cavou bem fundo e pôs os alicerces sobre a rocha. As águas transbordaram, precipitaram-se as torrentes contra aquela casa e não a puderam abalar, porque ela estava bem construída.	48 He is like a man building a house, who has dug deep and has laid the foundation upon the rock. Then, when the floodwaters came, the river was rushing against that house, and it was not able to move it. For it was founded upon the rock.
49 Mas aquele que as ouve e não as observa é semelhante ao homem que construiu a sua casa sobre a terra movediça, sem alicerces. A torrente investiu contra ela, e ela logo ruiu; e grande foi a ruína daquela casa.	49 But whoever hears and does not do: he is like a man building his house upon the soil, without a foundation. The river rushed against it, and it soon fell down, and the ruin of that house was great.”
