Jeremias 35

SAGRADA BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Eis a palavra que foi dirigida pelo Senhor a Jeremias, no tempo de Joaquim, filho de Josias, rei de Judá.	1 The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh in the days of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah,
2 Vai procurar a família dos recabitas para falar com eles. Em seguida conduzi-los-ás a uma das salas do templo, onde lhes oferecerás vinho para beber.	2 'Go to the clan of the Rechabites and speak to them; bring them into one of the rooms of the Temple ofYahweh and offer them wine to drink.'
3 Fui, então, à procura de Jezonias, filho de Habsanias, seus irmãos e filhos, e toda a família dos recabitas,	3 So I took Jaazaniah son of Jeremiah, son of Habazziniah, with his brothers and al his sons, the wholeRechabite clan,
4 e os conduzi ao templo, à sala dos filhos de Hanã, filho de Jegdelias, homem de Deus, perto da sala dos chefes, acima da de Maasias, filho de Selum, guarda do vestíbulo.	4 and brought them to the Temple of Yahweh into the room of Ben-Johanan son of Igdaliah, a man ofGod, which was next to that of the chief men, above the room of Maaseiah son of Shal um, guardian of thethreshold.
5 Coloquei diante deles um vaso cheio de vinho e taças, e lhes disse: Bebei este vinho!	5 I then set pitchers ful of wine, and some cups, before the members of the Rechabite clan and said,'Drink some wine.'
6 Responderam eles, porém: Não bebemos vinho, pois que Jonadab, filho de Recab, e nosso avô, assim nos prescreveu: jamais bebereis vinho, vós e vossos filhos.	6 But they replied, 'We do not drink wine, because our ancestor Jonadab son of Rechab gave us thisorder, "You must not drink wine, neither you nor your sons for ever;
7 Não construireis casa, não semeareis, não plantareis nem possuireis vinhas, mas habitareis sempre em tendas, a fim de que, por muito tempo, possais viver em uma terra onde permanecereis como estrangeiros. -	7 nor must you build houses, sow seed, plant vineyards or own them, but must live in tents all your lives,so that you may live long on the soil to which you are alien."
8 Observamos a ordem de Jonadab, filho de Recab, nosso avô, em todos os pontos: abstemo-nos de vinho em todos os nossos dias, nós, nossas mulheres, nossos filhos e filhas;	8 We have punctiliously obeyed the orders of our ancestor, Jonadab son of Rechab, never drinking wineourselves, nor our wives, our sons or our daughters,
9 não construímos casa para habitar nelas, não possuímos vinhas, nem campos de sementeiras,	9 not building houses to live in, owning neither vineyard nor field nor seed,
10 vivendo debaixo de tendas. Assim em tudo temos obedecido ao que nosso avô Jonadab nos prescreveu.	10 living in tents. We have obeyed the orders of our ancestor Jonadab, respecting them in everyparticular.
11 Quando, porém, Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia, invadiu a terra, uns aos outros dissemos: vinde e entremos em Jerusalém a fim de escapar do exército dos caldeus e dos arameus. Eis a razão por que nos encontramos em Jerusalém.	11 However, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon invaded this country, we decided, "We must getaway! We will go to Jerusalem to escape the armies of the Chaldaeans and Aramaeans." So that is why we areliving in Jerusalem.'
12 Foi, então, dirigida assim a Jeremias a palavra do Senhor:	12 Then the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah as follows,
13 Eis o que diz o Senhor dos exércitos, Deus de Israel: vai e dize ao povo de Judá e aos habitantes de Jerusalém: não aceitareis a minha admoestação e não obedecereis à minha palavra? - oráculo do Senhor. -	13 'Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, says this, "Go and say to the people of Judah and the inhabitantsof Jerusalem: Wil you never learn the lesson and listen to my words, Yahweh demands?
14 São observadas as ordens de Jonadab, filho de Recab, que proibiu a seus filhos beberem vinho. Abstiveram-se de beber, a fim de se conformarem com a ordem de seu pai. E a mim, que não cesso de vos falar, não me escutais.	14 The words of Jonadab son of Rechab, ordering his sons to drink no wine, have been observed;obedient to their ancestor's command, they drink none even today . But to me, who spoke to you so urgently, sountiringly, you have not listened.
15 Sem descanso, enviei-vos desde o princípio os profetas, meus servos, para dizer-vos: desviai-vos do mau caminho e reformai a vossa vida. Não andeis a correr atrás de deuses estranhos para lhes render culto. Ficareis, então, na terra que vos dei, a vós e a vossos pais. Não destes, porém, ouvidos, nem obedecestes.	15 I have urgently and untiringly sent you al my servants the prophets to say: Turn back, each one ofyou, from your evil behaviour and amend your actions, do not fol ow other gods to serve them, and you wil go onliving on the soil I gave to you and your ancestors. But you have not paid attention or listened to me.
16 Os filhos de Jonadab, filho de Recab, respeitam as prescrições de seus pais, mas esse povo não me escuta!	16 Thus the sons of Jonadab son of Rechab have kept the command their ancestor gave them, but thispeople has not listened to me.
17 Eis por que, assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos, Deus de Israel, vou lançar sobre Judá e os habitantes de Jerusalém os flagelos de que os ameacei, porquanto lhes falei e não me escutaram, e quando os chamei não me responderam.	17 And so, Yahweh, God Sabaoth, God of Israel, says this: Look, on Judah and the citizens of JerusalemI am going to bring al the disaster which I have decreed for them, because I spoke to them and they would notlisten, cal ed to them and they would not answer." '
18 A seguir, disse Jeremias à família dos recabitas: Eis o que diz o Senhor dos exércitos, Deus de Israel: já que obedecestes à ordem do vosso pai Jonadab, e observastes tudo o que vos prescreveu,	18 Then Jeremiah said to the Rechabite clan, 'Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, says this, "Becauseyou have obeyed the orders of your ancestor Jonadab and observed al his rules and done everything heordered you to do,
19 promete-vos o Senhor dos exércitos, Deus de Israel, que a Jonadab, filho de Recab, não faltarão descendentes que se hão de conservar na minha presença.	19 therefore, Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, says this: Jonadab son of Rechab wil never lack amale descendant to stand before me for ever." '
